Kherson: Ukraine stepping up counter offensive to retake city - sources Kyiv Post Ukraine's campaign to retake the occupied Kherson region is "gathering pace," Western military sources say. A key bridge into the city of Kherson was forced to shut after being damaged by long-range Ukrainian rockets originally supplied by the US. It means thousands of Russian troops are now in danger of being cut off from the rest of the occupied territory. Strategically located west of the Dnipro River, the city was the first in the war to fall to Moscow's forces. Read more: https://aseannow.com/forum/158-world-news/ -

500-plus drones, extra HIMARS headed to Ukraine in latest U.S. package The White House will provide 580 Phoenix Ghost drones and five high-mobility artillery rocket systems to Ukraine as part of the latest security package to help in the fight against Russia, officials confirmed Friday. White House national security council spokesman John Kirby also acknowledged that U.S. officials have begun discussions on potential aircraft acquisition for Ukrainian pilots as part of long-term partnering with America. But he said that work is not likely to produce any short-term changes for Ukraine’s air forces. “[The White House] is making some preliminary explorations in the feasibility of potentially providing fighter aircraft to the Ukranianas, but it’s not going to be something that they’re going to be able to execute immediately,” he said. Ukraine war: Zelensky accuses Russia of 'barbarism' over Odesa attack Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of "barbarism" after a missile attack on the port of Odesa. A landmark deal to resume Ukraine's grain exports - signed hours before the strike - now hangs in the balance. Moscow has not commented on the attack and Kyiv has said preparations are still underway to resume the grain exports despite the apparent breach. But on Saturday President Zelensky said it illustrates how Moscow cannot be trusted to stick to the deal. See more: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62278010 -

Ukraine war: Explosions rock Ukrainian port hours after grain deal Explosions have rocked a key Ukrainian port just a day after Kyiv and Moscow reached a landmark deal to allow the resumption of grain exports. Two missiles hit the city of Odesa in the early hours of Saturday morning, Ukraine's military said. Under the terms of Friday's deal, Russia agreed not to target ports while grain shipments are in transit. EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell said the attack showed Russia's "total disregard" for international law. See More: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-62276392
