The USD is in its death throws regarding its place as the global reserve currency.
Returning to the gold standard will be the last stand for the Dollar.
Once significant amounts of USD have been offloaded for gold it will start a domino topple as other countries scramble to swap USD for gold before it becomes almost valueless.
Then the whole US economy will collapse.
Many already know the Federal Reserve is lying about what gold they have left. It is a lot less then they say and China has up to 5 times the amount they say.

Of course the PM will lie.

In your dreams.
It has been on a downward spiral all this year and they still claim growth despite all the negative indicators.
Next year will be no different.
Thailand is going into serious recession.

Obviously they have an official rat counter.
How do they get them to stand still?... And do they paint an X on each rat's back to show it has already been counted??
Makes me laugh, they kill rats, it is not a problem.... Then they leave manky, festering and mangy dogs to lounge about and biting folks at will.

As far as I can see from the river system in the North East (Nissan) the water drains back towards the Mekong and drank down that river system.
It is good news that the Govt will spend 100 Million Baht on the waterways in this area but really its the North that needs more control of water.
The North or Chiang Mia way is where a lot of water comes from that drains down through the Bangkok area.
One of the biggest dams in the northeast is down to only 25% of capacity of usable water and is dropping by the day.
Probably the largest tract of agricultural land in the country.
They will see no rain probably till the next rainy season and that has been tipped to be a drought same as this year or worse thanks to el nino.
Typical of the Thai government... wait till it is too late before fixing it, and throwing money at a problem that will mostly be stolen. Fixing irrigation is not going to solve anything if there is no water around to run through it.
Also how much are they willing to flood fields with when everyone needs the water for much more important uses?
They love to throw public money at a problem because it facilitates massive corruption. They need money flowing for their own benefits.

Chuwit Kamolwisit is the darling of the Thai people. He is widely respected.
Just ask a Thai person. Show them his picture if you cannot pronounce his name. The Thai person will express their admiration. If they don't, they are lying because they are scared of the military or they are unrepresentative.
I just asked my Thai wife and she doesn't like him at all.
I asked her father, he doesn't like him either.
I asked the two builders working on my house and they don't like him either.
Sorry Briggsy...... Completely wrong.

Oh no.... everyone should be shitting bricks... The N Koreans are going to conduct a test as punishment.
We should be very nervous.
A bit like me slagging off the way my neighbour treats his car who then responds by threatening to cut his hedge.
Politics going beyond childishness.

this is not about chasing away foreign businesses but protecting Thai ones.
What a load of old bol****s
Any Thai involvement with a firm that has a 49% foreign ownership is completely inert 99% of the time.
It is technically the foreigners business. The Thai side is a begrudged aspect to be able to register here at all.
So nothing to protect as far as Thais go.
More like facilitating the ability for the Thai side to take full control and end up stealing the business away from the foreigner.
This is going to bite them in the ass big time.
I thank my lucky stars that I am 100% trading under the radar. No tax, No regulation, Squirrel all the cash I can out of the country so that one day I can sell up and get out of this crap hole and start up my dream business somewhere a lot less ridiculous.

Have you noticed that ALL the terrorism in those named countries are from Muslims?
I am not saying all Muslims are terrorists, but it is funny how all terrorists are Muslims.

Thais blame it on Ebola and global economy. No Thais at fault. No Thais responsible. The hubris of these Thais is astonishing and the Thai press just keeps on keeping on. Never a question asked, never a challenge to some pompous bureaucrat making pontifications like this.
Yes, every reasonable person knows it is Thais fault car sales are down overseas where these foreign car manufacturers located in Thailand export their vehicles
The difference with most Thais vs many posters here is if they see a story like this and chuckle and move on without trying to attribute it to some grand theory other than a stupid or miscommunicated comment.
No they don't.
The average thread on pantip.com puts on about 300 replies an hour and the ramblings are even more insane and uneduacated as yours.
They hate farangs a lot as well..... They especially laugh at Thai apologists.

Thank you for that I stand corrected and a bit more educated. Again Thank you to lazy to look up.
No, this is ThaiVisa. You are supposed to argue with me. You can't be nice. That is not the way things are done here. You should insult me.

We have had 4% 5%, 6% forecast for the remainder of 2014 since the coup and that figure is down to between 0.6 and 1% from two different sources.
What they are doing is trying to hoodwink foreign investor into putting money into this drain.
The reality is going to be recession and i am seeing signs of it, the biggest sign is when people start lying about economic growth..... That is the biggest alarm of the lot... They say Japanese trade is on the up... It is actually on the way down.
It's a bit desperate when a ministry has to resort to blaming the fact that car manufacturing is moving from Thailand to Indonesia as being an effect of Ebola.
Thailand.... you couldn't make it up.

the farlangs in particular Brits and Americans have looted so much from so many places.
What about the Romans, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Thais, Mongols, Alexander the Great, Greeks, Prussians, Persians, Germans, Dutch, Belgians, Arabs, Russians, etc etc etc.????
Going back 10,000 years man has been stealing his way across the world and there is barely a country that exists to the day that didn't steal their way into that land at some point in history.
Man..... You are baring your ignorance to the entire forum. I take it you were colonized by a superior race?
The biggest culprits were not the Americans and Brits. It was the Romans followed by Genghis Khan...... get your history right pal.

Maybe they should send the blue diamond back.
Why?.......They own it.
Building empires and looting has been going on since the dawn of mankind.
Every race at one time or another have been involved in some form of occupancy, whether it be tribal or national colonization.
Thailand itself stole most of its lands and temples and riches from the Khmer.
Why don't Thailand give that stuff back?
Germany have tried to dominate Europe on two past occasions and now actually have their empire.... the EU.
I suggest people stop throwing stones at the Brits. That is just borne out of one thing in my opinion..... Jealousy.

Look.......
This is just more bluster and blow and rumour-mongering to make Thailand look successful (to themselves).
Now the truth and the cold blow of reality.
No astute businessman from the west is going to consider Thailand with its bubble economy on a knife edge, and in recession.
Thailand's economy could go down the crapper at any time on several fronts. Thailand is probably among the worst places on earth to do investment at the moment.
Astute businessmen invest in stable places..... Thailand is no longer even safe to walk the streets at the moment, the country is under martial law and the place is increasingly being revealed as being ruled by a tyrannical dictatorship.
I built my business up here, and I have hardly invested a baht in it..... I pull as much money out of the country as I can and sit it in a safe place.
I am one farang that is not putting money into this place... I am removing theirs

Great news.
Keep dropping and dropping until Thailand realises we are not second class humans compared with Thais... we are in fact essential for the survival of this country.
I hope they lose all their tourism.... serves them right.
Possible serial killer on Koh Tao and they are covering it up.
If you think farangs are essential for survival of Thailand you are sadly mistaken. Tourism officially counts as around 6% of the economy, and farangs are probably a very small part of that %.
However, it is no excuse to treat farangs so badly.
I didn't say farangs.... I was on about tourism (tourists)
Big diffrence.
Tourists bring 2.2 trillion into the Thai economy from outside the country.
Annual government spending is 2.2 to 2.5 trillion per annum.
They are already creaking at the seams with a 700 Bn baht loss on the rice scam and having to issue bonds to plug the hole.
So tourists are responsible for providing this country with around the same amount the government needs to run the country..... remove that outside income and Thailand is in the crapper.
But don't take my word for it.. Tourism is also responsible for over 3 million jobs.
Nice to see you are optimistic.... what will thyey do?.... grow and export 2.2 trillion of extra rice and rubber a year?
Edit.
Not to mention when it goes away, it usually never comes back, so that amounts to 2.2 trillion every single year, less in the economy.
It will end up with the same boom and bust as Spain which now needs an EU bailout seven times bigger than Greece... Spain was booming back in the 80s and 90s.... I was there regular in those decades, it was thriving with tourists.... I last went there in 2006 and it is a total ghost town.

I hope they lose all their tourism.... serves them right.
Yes, let the 10 mio or so Thais that work in the tourist industry suffer, because some BiB f*****ed up the Koh Tao investigation.
With that attitude I hope your cheese business will go down the drain and your suppliers will cheat you as much as they can. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/776941-ripoffs-go-right-to-the-top/
Personally.... I don't give a damn about what you think.
People are being murdered here in Thailand and all we get is a wall of silence from all these so called sufferers.
If the people who are really suffering gang up on the minority who are covering these crimes up want to continue.... Then they deserve it.
At the end of the day.... if all these people cared so much about those who line their pockets (tourists), they will stand up for what is right. To protect these people and at least preserve their income.
The fact that they just take it on the chin is enough in my opinion to say they do not deserve it.
As far as my cheese making business is..... I am making loads of money and it is expanding by the month to the point I will have a full on factory within 2 years...... and why?????..... Because the Thais have been ripping people off on the price of cheese from the word go.
I can undercut the Thais by 30% and am still making loads of money and it is getting bigger by the month Currently at 450,000 a month profit on cream cheese alone,,, If I go national supplying Makro, Big C and Tesco, we are talking 30 million a year.......... so dream on pal.
Haha...95% chance this is BS because anyone who does business in Thailand knows this is not AT ALL how things work there. If a foreigner is successful taking away business from locals that NEVER goes unnoticed or unanswered. Haha....better educate yourself better before trying to bs people.
Man.... you know nowt about business in Thailand.
The majority of cream cheese in this country is Kraft chemically enhanced product.
There aint nobody doing it because it is alien to them.
Hahahahahaha.
Laugh as much as you like, but cream cheese is huge here at the moment with creanm cheese frosted cakes etc.... My customers are bakers.
No Thai can come close to my quality and price.
How to beat a Thai in Thailand..... beat them on quality and price.... they can't touch you.
YOU KNOW NOTHING PAL.
EDIT: By the way... I have been going 2 years now and not a single person has started up against me. Says a lot really... If i was making pizzas, I would be copied within weeks... NO... i am making cheese. Most Thais wouldn't even know what cheese tastes like
I ill continue to rise and no Thai will have a clue how to stop me.

Thai editorial: Repatriating Uighurs could come back to haunt us
in Thailand News

Claiming they don't believe the Chinese would treat them with violence is totally absurd. The Chinese will massacre the lot of them.... men, women and children alike and the Thai authorities know this 100%.
But they will bend to the word of the Chinese like they always do.... They are merely priming the situation for when they need to answer serious questions from the west on the issue, so they can claim their usual childish ignorance.
But on the other hand.... WHEN (not if) the Chinese wipe these people out, it will be done behind closed doors. The world will never be able to confirm it.
