  1. As everyone else has said, it really depends on your needs and buying power. Having said that I don't really see the point in spending huge amounts of money on imported luxury European cars such as Merc's and BMW's when for considerably less you are able to get a very similar spec car which also benefits from far cheaper maintainance costs, such as a Camry or an Accord. But again it's up to the individual, some people may value the "brand" of the car highly enough to warrant it's purchase.

  2. I am open to correction on this, but I think the nearest is Singapore.

Big correction mate, I know of about 4 in Thailand personally and I don't even skate!

Just remembered the name of that one on Sukhumvit, it's the Imperial Mall, I think they also have an Imperial Mall in Ladprao with an ice rink (which is smaller I think).

There also used to be one in World Trade centre but it closed a few years back...

  3. This really does my head in. They are worst in places that sell expensive electrical items such as LCD TV's etc (probably due to higher commisions). I have started to wear my i-pod when shopping in places such as this and pretend I don't know they are there! It helps.

  4. I strongly object to this ostentatious flaunting of wealth on a public forum, it's bragging no less - spending 100 baht on a bagel and a cup of coffee indeed, have you no shame!

HAHAHA! Calm down mate. I thought it sounded quite resonable! Au Bon Pain perhaps Mr Bendix? You should try their cheese bagel with bacon and egg, I have it virtually every day, it's delicious!! With coffee and delivery charge: 150Baht. Not too bad...

  5. The Rang Mahal at the Rembrandt used to be my favorite high end Indian in BKK but I now reckon the relatively new Indus in Suk Soi 26 is better... Location and ambience are nicer too...

I haven't been to the Rembrandt, but I agree about Indus, by far the best Indian food that I have had in Bangkok.

And last but not least, Coyote on Phrom Pong. You should try their nachos with chicken and also fajitas with prawns. Best Mexican food that I've ever tasted

Not sure about this one. IMO the food in Coyote is pretty average, not a bad atmosphere tho, especially on a Thursday (Ladies night :o )

  6. In BKK most people would probably say MBK. On the 6th floor there are a number of small shops together which sell them. Prices vary from around 1,800 up to 2,500 (roughly) depending on how new the game is and what software developer designed it (EA games seem to be cheaper for some reason).

No you cannot buy copied games for the PS3 as no-one has managed to "crack" it yet...

  7. Yes I compared farm animals to wild exotic animals. Why do you see a difference in who can be killed for food

Wow. Farmed animals are managed, the animals are bred and reared. Their numbers are controlled. Wild animals are a finite resource. Indiscriminately killing these creatures a various stages in their reproductive life will affect their ability to reproduce as a species. Therefore unregulated killing can desimate their numbers.

Wild animals have their place within a highly complex ecosystem, even a slight disruption to this system can have huge consequences for many species. Farmed animals live on a farm.

  8. I have studied Chinese Herbal Pharmacology for about twenty years now. Just like modern day antihypertensive medicines are made snake venom.

Botox from frog secretions, hormone replacement drugs etc., etc.

Many medicines are made from animal substances.

The use medicines derived from the bones, glands etc of animals especially endangered ones is a real tragedy

Is there any PROOF that these traditional medicines have any health benifits whatsoever (other than placebo)?

  9. On another note, I've never understood why people keep going back to Bella Napoli.

Maybe you are ordering the wrong dish. IMO Bella Napoli one of the best value for money restaurants in Bangkok, the "Priest Pizza" is amazing and it costs less than a large pizza from Pizza company. Limoncello has pizzas of similar quality only 30% more expensive.

  10. I think MK is the worst restaurant in Thailand. It's incredibly bland and way overpriced. You can go to one of those 99 baht suki buffet joints and get superior food in a better atmosphere and at a better price. Some of them even have swimming pools filled with prawns, that you catch yourself and grill on your hot pot. Way better than MK.

MK is one of my favourate restaurants in Thailand. The hotpot is full of veg so really healthy and the duck and red pork is delicous. Just goes to show that this thread is all about personal taste.

PS What is the point in everyone slagging off McDonalds, Burger King, KFC etc. Everyone knows what they taste like! Every branch tastes pretty much the same the world over. These restaurants do the job of offering a quick fix of trashy food, that is what they do.

  11. Definately "Krap pom". Direct translation is "yes sir" but in reality it is used as a variation on the basic "krap", if slightly more polite.

As for "krap bop", I have never heard this variation....

  12. pizza is one of the most unhealthy kinds of food known to man, the bread/cheese combination is naughty. i would strongly recommend thai food as a healthier option

    Thanks Matt

    The cheese was simply awful.

I agree 100% The cheese is stodgy and mushy also there is not enough of it. I like pizzas where there is plenty of cheese and it goes "stringy" with more elasticity when you pull a slice off.

It's a real shame because they have some lovely topping combos and the value for money and size are great. Sort out the cheese!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I’m afraid this situation is just normal

Not in my experience. I have had True Broadband in BKK for about 2 years now. The last few days have been by far the worst in that whole period (excluding the time when an earthquake severed the international lines a few months ago). Pretty much unusable.
