  1. My bestfriend and I went to the Witches Tavern! We danced for like an hour, but couldn't find a spot to sit-on so we shoot to Landmark! We found seats there, but the place was loads tamer!

    I still had fun though........................

    hehehhehhehehee

    I enjoyed wearing horns!!!

Yeah, it was pretty busy, you had to get there very early to get seats. I went as Superman, did you see the girl dressed as a mummy?! Great costume... :o

  2. The info screen that comes up when you try to watch MTV and VH1 says something about "In response to what the UBC subscribers wish to view... "

I wonder who they asked exactly. I can't imagine that the majority of UBC subscribers would want rid of the 2 best music channels.

    UBC customer service... :D:o

  3. Tonight, I'm gonna H U N T for a Halloween Party!

    I've bought my mask! hehehheheeeheee

    Witch's Tavern :D:o

haha! It was quite good there last year actually!

Might be headin there myself later...

    :D

Pretty busy last night, but not as good as last year IMO...

  4. Ive been there a few times, and almost every time I go there some shit kicks off (usually involving pissed up hi-so Thai kids)

IMO the place has got a bad vibe and everyone seems too concerned with being "seen" than having actual fun.

And its over priced. There are heaps of better venues than Zantika.

I'm not gonna go back in a hurry.

    Rant over.

    :o

  5. IMO Thai girls tend to display the general cultural traits of Thailand, whereas Chinese girls IMHO seem to be more "chinesey" in their cultural makeup.

On a similar topic, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how long a peice of string is? (just roughly is fine)

    Thanks

    :o

  6. I like the man ouside the brothel in 'from dusk till dawn' trying to encourage punters inside by explaining exactly what he has got. Decency prevents me from quoting it here!

    :o

Seconded!! Dusk till Dawn has got so many cool lines in it.

The girl hostage asks Richie (who has kidnapped her family and taking them to Mexico...)

    "Whats in Mexico?"

to which Richie (Tarantino) calmly replies

    "Mexicans"

    Before facing the vampires...

Seth Gecko: So what are you, Jacob? A faithless preacher? Or a mean mother######ing servant of God?

And one of the last lines in the film...

Carlos: What? Were they psychos, or...?

Seth Gecko: They look like psychos? Is that what they looked like? They were vampires. Psychos do not explode when sunlight hits 'em. I don't give a ###### how crazy they are!

    Classic.

  7. Yeah, most of the expat bars (and probably alot of the Thai catered ones too) will have some Halloween party.

No trick or treating tho to the best of my knowledge.

Last year I went to the Witches Tavern (very apt name) on Thong Lor, which was very good. Might be going back again this year.

If your into the backpacker scene, Ko San road is always buzzing on Halloween.

  8. Good point Kmart,

I recently went to Bangkok Hospital with flu symptoms (regular not bird!)

The doctor tried to give me:

Paracetamol (at about 10 times the cost of 7/11)

    Vitamin C tablets

Muscle relaxants (due to aching joints and muscles)

Actifed type drug (again, far more expensive than from 7/11 or anywhere else)

    Strepcils (you guessed it....very overpriced)

sleeping tablets (because I was tired and wasn't sleeping very well)

    and anti-biotics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the end I took the anti-biotics, then went to 7/11 and bought some of the other stuff. Must have saved over 2000 baht

  9. Thanks SBK,

So I tried it last night (before I paid backflip :o ) and I really enjoyed it.

It was more tiring than I thought it would be!! Even so, after the class I came out feeling really good. Still I'm gonna try one more of the classes before I commit to paying (they have loads of different classes with various styles of yoga etc)

Holding some of those positions for more than a few seconds... Ouch!

  10. Hi all,

Although I have never tried yoga before, I am gonna give it a crack at "Yoga Planet" because I am currently a basic member of California Wow on Suk 23.

I went to ask the price of joining the yoga section last night and was originaly told that I would have to pay about 2,000 baht joining fee followed by 2,000 per month. Obviously that is <deleted>, so I said I wouldn't pay anymore than 7,000 per year with no joining fee (She said she would have to check with her boss blah blah blah)

So anyway I'm gonna have my first taste of yoga tonight, and if I like it maybe I'll join....

So what I wanna know is...

What are your thoughts on yoga? is it an effective way to lose weight and tone up or is regular resistance training more effective?

Does anyone have any experience with Planet Yoga in Cali wow? How does it compare to other yoga classes?

How much has anyone else payed to join just the yoga section? (please don't hijack this thread into yet another "slag off" for California fittness' sales practices - thanks)

    Many thanks
