Medicine / herb to relieve anger, stress
Kenny202 replied to Kenny202's topic in Health and Medicine
I wouldn't be so certain about root causes. I am quietly hopeful our lass will calm down with the anti depressants but have been down this road before unsuccessfully. Many of these people grow up amidst violence and abuse and it all becomes normal and very ingrained into them. And the village culture of raising your voice to appear hard / don't mess with me. Not to mention the probable emotional scars they have from childhood / abandonment / abuse. Someone mentioned before how they are hardwired to respect any government / teacher / authority types here, even prostrating before cement statues, giving money to free loaders they don't even know in the hope of some magical redemption or boon credits.....yet continually "bite the hand that feeds them" and possibly the only person that ever truly cared for them. Even their families often use and abuse them, make problems in their life when they have an opportunity to improve themselves. And the loyalty they have to these people is unwavering. Must be Stockholm syndrome or something. I heard someone refer to it as "crabs in a bucket" syndrome. One crab gets near the top and just about out and the others pull it back in. I been here 10 years and still don't have a handle on any of it -
Anyone have any experience with Redmi phones?
Kenny202 replied to Kenny202's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
They say the Google Pixel is crazy awesome, can't take a bad photo with them but they are expensive here, well over 10k and starting to get into Iphone money. Looks like they are a lot cheaper in the US / Europe. For the other poster looking at the Redmi 12, I did some test shots on my new Redmi Note 11 this morning. I have also read negative reports....which is odd as the Note 10 apparently had legendary camera results, and this has the same Samsung 108mp camera / hardware. Obviously different internal processing. I take predominantly indoor photos under natural light, probably the most difficult of all photos. Anyway, took a few pics of an item with a color I have found difficult to capture....usually turns out wrong color, dark etc on My Oppo Reno anyway. Took the snaps and viewed them in the phone and thought these suck! Transferred them to my computer and wow! Really nice fine detail. Images are a very realistic color.....Nice contrast.....good base to do any post processing....little tweak to contrast and exposure if needed. Often when I would post process the Oppo photos would get cartoonish very quickly. So it is making me think maybe it is the way the phone screen displays the photos more than the photos / camera themselves? The screen does seem very contrasty / darker than my Oppo, even with screen brightness turned up. The Oppo camera has lots of bells and whistles to adjust photos quickly on the fly, but in hindsight looked ok on the screen but not so good on computer / websites. Assuming the in bult camera app of the phone was no good, would it make any difference getting a different camera app? Or is the magic done inside the phone processor itself? -

I ended up getting the Redme Note pro 11 today, 4G version. It appears with many of the more expensive 5G models which are more expensive and you would think an upgrade have many features / performance downgraded to accommodate the 5G. I have only had it for a day. Its a nice enough phone and well specced but so far don't see a lot of difference to my 4yo Oppo Reno 2, which has the same Rom / Ram. Bit underwhelmed with the camera so far but early days...and this is the reason I bought it. The Pro 10 was supposed to have a cherry of a camera....and the pro 11 has the same actual camera but apparently processing system different and the processing performance of the 11 no where near the 10. As far as someone mentioning Playstore not available anymore on Redmi's, came loaded with Playstore and the other Chinese app store thing. No problems with Playstore at all and this phone under 6 months old. I don't know why there is so much hoo ha about Huawei and spy apps. Just about every app I loaded onto day was asking for access to this and send data etc to them. it is quite scary actually you really pay attention when giving app permissions....they are getting more creative and making them look like they are helping you "improve your experience" by sucking up all of your personal information. As far as I can tell the likes of Facebook, Google and co are all spyware app's. -

The upshot of yesterday Sheryl was they put her on 50mg Zoloft and she has gone off the pill. I wish they would have also given her something can be taken as needed but they didn't, maybe there isn't anything like that available. The pharmacy also gave her some evening primrose oil and she is going back to the hospital in a month. Time will tell. Appreciate your help so much. You are truly an angel. At least we have some hope. Feel free to close the post if you wish, seems to have gotten way off subject -

Based on the camera and performance alone I am tempted to buy it, and see some on Lazada at this price range but claiming 5G, 8 / 128gb etc. Not sure if they are original phones or been messed with or just copies. -

I have seen a Note 11 pro near home for a crazy price, phone is near new. The reviews on the 10 pro are legendary and the 11 has the same camera / sensor......but it would appear the processor in the two cameras superior on the 10 pro, as hard as that is to believe. Watched a few side by side comparisons of photo results and the 10 clearly superior -
After a phone with a really high performing camera. I would buy an Iphone but my days of spending 10K + on a phone are long gone. I keep coming up with Redmi as by far the best camera performance by a mile in a low price range. Anyone know anything about the quality of their products? As far as I know Xiaomi very good company.

What do you think about a contraception pill called Yaz Sheryl? It pops up everywhere as a great birth control pill, and actually can help in the case of PMDD. Of course it could all be fake news put out by the manufacturers lol -

Wow, yes will make sure she stops taking the pill at least to see if things get better. Hubby will have to grin and bare it. Thanks again so much for your trouble Sheryl. Hopefully on the road to a solution -

Agree with everything you say Sheryl, just looking for something to avoid these events in the short term. She is actually at the doctors now. I have seen the look on her face when she has these fits and her eyes look like they are pleading for help nearly like her eyes are doing the opposite to her actions.....like a person completely lost control. Not insensitive to the amount of anguish she is experiencing, it is apparent. But there are the realities of life and others are experiencing anguish as well including small children. The doctor actually just called me and asked me to describe the symptoms. She is giving her some short term / take as required calming meds and get her started on SSRI's. I suggested PMDD and she went ohhhhh yes, so not sure if she was just agreeing with me, had already made the diagnosis or hadn't occurred to her. Anyway she was helpful and kind so a good start. She is going to organize some anger management training as well. Thanks for all your help as always Sheryl. Definitely will be monitoring when the issue appears and at what time in her cycle. Do you think she should stay on the pill or maybe give it a break and see if any improvement? -

I am pretty sure it isn't depression anxiety. I had that for a couple of years myself in my 40's for a couple of years and do have some experience of it. There are no feelings of hopelessness etc, not that I know about anyway. it is mostly unreasonable and random bouts of anger and aggression. She is on the way to the hospital at them moment. We are keeping our fingers crossed there is some result / solution, hopefully a PMDD issue can be sorted somehow. If it is just normal pent up Thai childhood / anger / self control issues there is only going to be one conclusion which won't be great for anyone ???? -

One other thing, a question for Sheryl, I read that birth control pills can either help or exacerbate the problem. I believe she is on the pill. Would it be worthwhile going off the pill for a while to see if there is any improvement? I also read the main drug that would be recommended would be an SSRI common antidepressant. Her symptoms from what I know aren't so much like a depressed person....re prolonged sadness, thoughts of self harm, hopelessness etc....though these could be present without her actually admitting it...though it outwardly doesn't appear to be the case. Another symptom of PMDD I read is a lack of focus, wanting to sleep all the time which is definitely her during these phases. Her main obvious issues when these periods occur are resentful feelings for little reason that build up to an anger outburst that seems uncontrollable with little thought for consequences, or people around her....even to the point of her own children being scared witnessing all this and her unconcerned about it or anyone else. It is almost like she looks for a reason to will herself into this state to a huge outburst of energy. I have read Bi polar / PBD people actually sometimes go off their meds as they crave this sort of release. Almost what it appears to be with her. Even after these outburst and in her moments of calm she seems to genuinely believe they weren't her fault and her extreme actions were justified, almost as if, if the minute little thing that triggered her off never happened she would not have acted this way.....therefore not her fault or problem. And it seems to be a real lack of remorse or recognition there is a problem rather than a face saving cover up. Thankfully it has never been physical violence directed at a person, more verbal....screaming etc, kicking objects, slamming doors etc, but this in itself could lead to a dangerous conclusion where someone around her is triggered into a violent reaction. By the way, I have no medical knowledge nor am I trying to be an armchair doctor. It is just that I know doctors can only go off the information they are provided without actually witnessing these sort of these things first hand....And I also know (Thais without generalizing I hope) can be either very vague or on the other hand agree with everything the doctor says whether it is true or not....A product of subservience to anyone they perceive at a higher station than them. Just trying to be forearmed and make sure the doctor has all the information... -

Exercise, medication, diet etc of course would all be immensely helpful, and possibly a large part of the problem but for this to occur requires the person to commit, participate and recognize (admit?) they have a problem themselves. A bit like an alcoholic or drug addict that isn't at the stage of wanting to help themselves. It is impossible. That mixed with closed minded Thai cultural stuff that makes it impossible to show or explore any inward feelings.... better to put on a hard face than deal with problems means we are a long way off from the self help stage. -

I understand Benzo's Opiods etc are addictive Sheryl. What about as a one off thing when one of these attacks" occur? Obviously not a thing taken every day. Definitely does seem to be a thing where you can tell this person is going to have an episode just by the look on their face. And then there is a stewing period of a few hours where she seems to work herself up to an explosion. It really is a Jekyll and Hyde thing. And the justification for such behavior is always the slightest every day little thing. It is often impossible to ignore also as the person becomes provocative. Latest episode about 1 week from menstruation.....big explosion then angry and resentful for a few more days..... then the sweetest person you could ever meet about a day into actual menstruation so I am hoping you are on the right track. I just hope the doctor takes it seriously. Apart from us tracking when the issue is happening, I assume they can test for this sort of thing and have some sort of treatment? Was reading Xanax and Tramadol available over the counter here. I understand both very strong and addictive drugs but what if used as a one off sedative when the monster comes, maybe as a mood changer until all this can be sorted out medically? The situation is really that bad something more immediate is required whist sorting out what the actual issue is and finding a long term solution. We are hoping the doctor will give her something today. The problem is once this person explodes, it is like they even know they have "done it again" so may as well go to town. -

That is exactly how I answered them but it doesn't say if you are correct or not. In the movie they clearly state alcohol is the biggest cause of accidents in Thailand, but in the multiple choice question it doesn't even give you that option. Tailgating seemed the most logical answer out of the 4 choices provided -

I totally agree and spent my own period of time here with a very unstable and violent women here. She had a horrid past / upbringing and clearly a very broken person. She was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and by all accounts the doctor told me the only way to treat it was with heavy tranq's and intensive psyche therapy for 2 to 3 years..... but he said there was a very low success rate. Dangerous was exactly how I would describe it. This woman was physical and it was only a matter of time before I snapped or there was an accident. Was the very reason in the end why I removed myself away from her. Her life continues to be a train wreck to this day -

I didn't know that Sheryl but I will make sure we are taking note of when the incidents occur. I would say in 2 - 3 week cycles. She doesn't appear to suffer from any PMT symptoms like some do.....pain, cramps etc. I really don't think anti depressants would help her. I have had a bit to do with depression and anti depressants and she doesn't really fit that mold. Depressed people tend to be negative and sullen and get worse...spiral down. Not so much Dr Jekyll today and Mr Hyde tomorrow. This person doesn't sit around moping etc. Although loves attention and pity. Sounds like Bi polar sort of thing on the surface but from what I have read about that doesn't seem to fit. If anything like that maybe BPD. But I think you are right...either hormonal imbalance or PMT or both. It's totally irrational and mass over reactions to every day little blips at random times. She is going to the hospital tomorrow to start the ball rolling but you know these things take time (tests etc) so was hoping maybe there was something she could take immediately should she get these feelings, if not for anything but to calm her down and hopefully have a reset. Would something like Valium help in the meantime if the doctor will prescribe it. Even if it zonks her out, better than the alternative. The good thing is she is open to trying to do something about it....today at least anyway. Just hoping she will follow it through. The person is generally a good, decent person and its such a shame to see her destroying her life and happiness as well as those around her if it is something that can be treated. -

Last time I did the movie thing the actual TV or Video was broken but still had to sit in the room for an hour and half lol. Only in Thailand. It was one of there third party driving school agents during Covid so I think they have to log you on and off the DLT system so I guess they need to make sure you are their for at least the length of the video. There were 10 other people in the room, I couldn't believe the ludicrousy of it all. No one complained or said anything, just complied and sat and looked at their phones in a hot room for an hour. I did the online test this time....After a few minutes I was laughing told the missus I would just leave it running in the background and do something else but they have actually put a bit of thought into it 5555. If you open another screen over the top of the video it automatically pauses. Then I thought I will go and sit on the sofa watch TV and leave the computer video going...uh uh.....trick question pops up every now and then to make sure you are paying attention lol. Mind you a few of the "correct" answers to the question's were the direct opposite to what were stated in the movie. In the end sat there and watched it and there were a few things I was reminded that I should be more aware of when driving so not a waste of time. I couldn't help but thinking though I wish more Thais would watch the movie lol. Well done Thailand! ???? -

Yeah all of those sort of thoughts are nice and of course exercise is one of the best cures for depression, anxiety etc but this is a Thai person with no other interests in life except a phone, Facebook and a very poor diet. I think in this case a more direct / immediate solution is required first. Have met many like that with seemingly very little regard for their health or future. nearly like it is a chore to live -

I am actually in Khon Kaen. Wife rang today said can go straight to IO with a copy of your online test and get the residents letter. Always perplexed me, I did my 90 day (address) report the other day. I can't see why that can't be used as it will always be under 3 months old. You can use a residents letter for up to 6 months. Not that anything is usually logical in Thailand -

Kenny202 replied to Kenny202's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Wife rang DLT today and they told her its the same procedure to renew, not requiring any other tests etc for up to one year after your expiry date. But of course the license itself will have expired and I assume driving illegally. Not that it seems to matter here. I remember someone in the village bought a new car, had it insured etc and to this day they still do not have a drivers license. My wife at the time checked with our insurance company and they said if you have insured for anyone driving even unlicensed drivers are insured. At the time I believe the fine for driving without a license was 200 baht -
Wife's sister having quite a few issues with anger. She lived with us for a time and have seen it first hand. Can be nice as pie for 2 days- 2 weeks and next minute the slightest thing will trigger her into a rage....usually after stewing for several hours and making herself worse to the point where she let's go and enter rampaging bull. Anyway got to the point where it is going to destroy her marriage. She's too young (34yo) to be be change of life and doesn't seem to be menstrual related. Like I said seen it myself and by the look on her face she has no control over what she is doing. She has finally admitted herself she needs help and is going to see a doctor for blood tests etc. I would prescribe a small whiskey myself but she doesn't drink or smoke weed nor will she. I am no expert but have had a bit to do with depression and it doesn't seem to be like that. I did know a girl once was diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder which is different to Bi polar or depression....worse than both really and much of that about anger and selfishness. Seems to be more of a physical thing than psychological.......though who knows what some of these people go through growing up in villages, could be some past trauma there or something. A nurse walked past her about 6 months ago visiting someone in hospital and told her that her eyes looked like she needs to go and check her liver. She didn't of course but I have noticed myself her eyes not nice and clear. Is there anything available over the counter that hopefully wont turn her into a zombie or make you sleep, but something that can be taken as needed and work quickly for a calming effect / mood changer? She went to a pharmacy this morning and all they could suggest is Evening primrose oil, which I think is more for menstrual / hormonal symptoms (Correct me if I am wrong?) and in any case I think some of these herb things need a month or two to kick in. I am pretty sure she doesn't have that long before her life is going to fall apart. So she is going to a doctor tomorrow start the ball rolling. I imagine the usual tests etc and come back next week and possibly a month before there is anything starting to happen or become apparent. Will follow the doctors advice of course but in the meantime anything available over the counter that has a calming effect / possible mood changer? Appreciate any advice you have of you are around Sheryl
