Man Dies After Attack by Mixed-Breed Stray Dogs in Ubon Ratchathani
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Where are the 'alpha males' who suggest the stray dogs are harmless if you stare them down and show them you are 'boss' ??? These hardmen usually pop up in every thread about soi dogs etc... I'm sure they'll be along soon....- 91 replies

100% agree. My Son has a MetaQuest VR headset... he's not allowed to use it in the week. But he uses it for a few hours at the weekend... There are some great games on it that are very acitve, it's almost like exercising indoors with all the movement. But, the one thing that does concern me is the potentail damage to near sight - but that is offset with the enjoyment he gets out of the the VR headset and the fact that use is not daily.

I think the advantage of these payment methods is that they are 'free'... i.e. not like a credit card were the money is devalued with each use. i.e. Pay 1000 Baht - and 3% is bank charges... that 1000 baht is now worth 970 baht and so on.. After approximately 23 cycles the value of that cash is halved, or rather the banks have made 50%

Quite an over egged reaction. I find paying by QR code much quicker than getting cash out of my wallet and waiting for change. Some people are slow to use the App... I have the App open and standing by ready to pay as soon as the QR code pops up. Even better would be RFID payment such as Apple Pay or Google Wallet - a simple tap of a button on the phone and hold the phone over the 'point of sale' machine (or whatever its a called) and the transaction takes a second. But to counter your comment above - consider the following steps: Fingerprint/password to unlock the device. >> Take walled out of Pocket Fingerprint/password to access an area of hidden apps. >> Take bank note out of wallet Fingerprint/password to access banking app. >> handover bank note Fingerprint/password to access the banking part of the banking app. >> await change We can add as many written steps as we wish to suit our agenda when presenting our opinion in such discussions. Face scan - superseding the fingerprint makes things quicker too. Personally - I find PromptPay much faster than paying with cash and always have. This I agree with 100% - we should never lose the option to pay with cash. This is the 'only' strong argument I have read of that counters the efficency of using digital payment methods. We've been using credit / bank cards for 'tap and go' for years now, using our phones is no different. BUT... I don't want to lose cash - cash must always be an available option and I don't want to shop at places that are cashless.

Elderly Australian Caught Stealing Vitamin C in Chonburi

True, neither is it Iran or Palestine, they won’t chop off his hands !!! 🥸 -
Or they would have hit the pedestrian. If the pedestrian ran across the road he'd have beat the bike !!!... loads of whatifery.. But... the fact remains the bike was gunning it down the road without any consideration for the safety of others. For some reason some people think Thailand is different and it shouldn't have pedestrian crossings as its lures pedestrians into a false sense of security... How about the Police and legal systems doing a proper job and luring drivers / riders into a genuine sense of road safety and consideration ??? (rhetorical)... All of that said - the guy crossing the road had very little regard for his own safety - as others have pointed out, even when crossing, have yer hid in a swivel... It astonishes me that people will cross a road on a crossing or otherwise without taking far greater caution.

I’ve often wondered how many motorcyclists are ‘saved’ each day by the avoiding actions of motorists. Its seems a daily occurrence when driving that I have a avoid a motorcyclist either by emergency braking or swerving. - they pull out from a side soi without looking, I have to brake to avoid hitting them. - on the narrow spud they pass oncoming traffic heading straight towards me, I have to brake to allow them space to ‘nip in front of the car they are overtaking’ , or I have to swerve to give them space & avoid clipping them.

Did this amulet come fixed the car and clunk-clicked into fitting next to the seat ? 100% avoidable crash - driver was either looking at his phone or fell asleep. RIP to the deceased, but thats surely a 100% avoidable death, the deceased clearly not wearing a seatbelt. This is clearly the 'status' of the Thai mentality towards safety - a completely avoidable death occurs and there is not one mention of 'seatbelts'...

I'm one of those idiots... I came out here for work... made lots of friends, ended up staying... Worked in the the UK for a couple of years, but the all year round humidity and heat here is better than half a year horrible miserable wet and dingy cold and damp in the UK. The issue I have here is with the humidity... In the Summer months in the UK its great to be outside... BBQ's, working in the garden, working on a car or motorcycle etc... ... Here in Thailand I change the battery on my Motorcycle and I'm drenched wet through in sweat and exhausted after 20 mins !!!... ... Here in Thailand, I stand outside for a BBQ and want to be in AC, so consequenctly I hardly BBQ... ... Here in Thailand the workmen are so rubbish I renovated the shelves in the Bathroom myself, paintstripping them, sanding them down, keying them, base layer, over coats... It was exhausting work which in the UK I wouldn't have battered an eye at. The humidity here is just draining, yes, I chose to live here, but that does not mean all aspects of Thailand are wonderful - there are plenty of pro's and a number of cons... the humidity is something I get fed up of.

Similar to weddings... the cost of our Wedding (not insubstantial) was covered by the cost of the 'envelope monies' donated by the guests on arrival at the weddings.... I imagine and hope the same can be said of the In-Laws when they pass as their funerals could be fairly big affairs... So, offsetting any cost with donates is obviously be welcomed.

Its not about just avoiding the scam - its about avoiding the irritant of being called by a scammer in the first place. Sometimes these scammers call at 8am when I want a lie-in... or they call at 7pm when I've having dinner etc - they're irritants, so anything to block their call in the first place is a good thing. I tried to block their pre-fix... usually +697 - but that really doesn't work. The other option is to keep my phone on silent, then I miss the calls I do want to answer. Ignore the calls I don't recognise is also not an option, as I get work related calls from unknown numbers. These scammers are a real pain in the backside - so anything to filter out known or reported scammer numbers is a good thing. ------- I've just downloaded the app and see how it works, but note I had already used it in the past (but don't remember) obviously it didn't work very well and recall that it filtered numbers and made the answering process glitchy so I deleted the app.... I see how it works again this time.

I’m thinking more of the grunts that would be endangered by having to rescue them. Why rescue them? So, do you mean... 'Why rescue them?'... it was their own choice to go there so they are accountable for the consequences.... Or... 'Why rescue them?'... what could happen where they require a rescue ?

Dog's Loud Barking Drives Neighbour to Shoot Man Next Door
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"So many retarded people hiding amongst us" ... I quite agree, some in plain sight !!! ... Little clue for you: The woman shot the man !! -
No... I don't see or think there is any irony. I just see a tiktoker with an extremely questionable moral compass trying to drum up attention by passing moral judgement based on a borrowed rhetoric. That said, I do agree with you that there are 'some' men who trash females of other ethnicities while dating Thai females - their comments are often misogynistic, flawed and bitter. ... did you mean foreign men married to Thai females ? Anyone with a brain can pick out the losers, just as anyone with a sense can observe the multitude of genuine relationships. I think the 'litmus test' is if you go back to your home country, would you as a couple 'stand out'... i.e. would you look out of place amongst the rest of the crowd ? I can spot Thai's in the crowds in other countries... I can see them with non-Thai guys and think... Yup... ex ho !!! Or I can see them with non-Thai guys and think... nothing... just a normal relationship. There is a full spectrum of types of course, as there is a full spectrum of reasons for being here and meeting the females and what 'type' of female that is. One thing is for sure - this silly girl [porno Ray] has never dipped deep enough into Thailand to see the normal guys married to Lawyers, secretaries, artists, business owners etc...... yet she's an expert... I agree with the comments about her toxicity - I just don't agree she is an example of or speaks for all foreign females here - just as some of the misogynistic forum members here don't speak for the others.

Dog's Loud Barking Drives Neighbour to Shoot Man Next Door
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
If I didn't mean it I wouldn't have written it. OK... Just checking because people write outrageously unintelligent things all the time... Just wanted to be sure I didn't misunderstand you... ... So in your opinion, it doesn't matter what a dog does, just so long as it doesn't bite !!... Got it !!!.. It can bark all night, sh!t all over your law, chase your kids around..... its all ok, if the dog 'doesn't bite'... ... Or are you starting to realise the flaw in your comment ???... [The dog was just being a dog. He didn't even bite anyone.] ....Because, there are dogs in my Moobaan that don't bark all night - and they are still 'just being dogs'... the difference is they have responsible owners who train them. So... while it was just being a dog is an accurate comment, its completely avoids the whole conversation that this wasn't 'just' being a dog.... ....... It was being an 'untrained, annoying, disturbingly loud, barking all night dog'.... ... and thats why a problem occurred. -

Thats ok then, let it bark all day and night disturbing the whole neighbourhood... Annoying everyone only matters if a kid gets their face bitten off as well.... Is that really your position ?
