  1. That's a pretty narrow-minded take. There are countless women from every nation who are more than qualified as long-term partners or marriage material. If you're passing judgment like that, it's either because you lack the ability to recognise it—or your own bias disqualifies you from being in the conversation altogether.
  2. If this is a serious comment, then... at cnx101... who's dropped an AN 'most overused comment' bomb... up there with, 'if you don't like it then go home'... comment. But... If cnx101 dropped this comment out of satirical humour targeted at all the halfwitted idiots who make such predictably, boring and moronic comments - then fair enough... I agree !
  3. Agree... There's a suitable and appropriate tipping point... Hold on too long and Micheal Douglas (in Falling down) rears his ugly head... But... letting frustrations out is fair enough IMO... Even in Thailand, where it is considered a loss of face to lose ones anger - I think its perfectly reasonable to do so in a tactful way.
  4. doesn't mean she's not right, or that her opinion isn't as relevant as yours. only a fool would deny that the vast majority of foreign men partaking in the sex industry in thailand are a pretty lame bunch. i don;t want to be too judgemental, but just look at them, listen to them, for example, parroting the atrocious pidgin english their younger, paid for, partners spout. Yes it does [mean she's not right]... She's spouting a load of attention seeking, virtue signalling moral diatribe and proving herself an outrageous hypocrite. I very much doubt the opinion she portrays is her own at all... She's peddling opinion of older men here with local girls, yet the moral high ground from which she distorts the rhetoric is flee ridden by her own hypocrisy...
  5. I completely agree with this... Given the events that frequently transpire there seems to be a lot of 'imbedded anger and frustration' that is usually held back by the social constraints of face.... but once that veneer has cracked the flood-gates can open and many can go from Zero to a fiery 100% in the blinking of an eye. I've had similar discussions on this with my Wife about brining up my Son. The Wife loves to play the 'soft doting mother'... our son is very well behaved, but at times we have to put our foot down... as he develops he shows sings of frustration and anger... my wife tries to calm him... while I'll try and nudge him that little bit further - the point I try to explain to my wife is that these emotions he's feeling are natural, he has to get used to them and learn how to deal with them... they're a part of growing up, she can't be there as a calming influence all the time, he has to learn that himself. If he reaches a 18 years old without having ever felt these emotions of anger, frustration etc then we have failed - its our job to ensure our children are equipped to handle the world. One thing I know - my son won't drive through a *bus-stop of people because someone made him angry !!!... he wont throw a flowerpot at next door because their dog is barking... *Kanpitak Pachimsawat - 20 year old male (son of former Miss Thailand) rammed his car into the passengers at bus-stop after a conflict with the bus driver.
  6. 100% concur - thanks for the info @n8sail When considering the Y-Valve system - I wonder if the 'back-up' was already in use and the primary never changed out... after all... the engine is was working (initially). -------- I remember when I first came out here with work. There was something broken on one of the piece of equipment but it was working, it was just working imperfectly. We had a backup so I switched to that.... and went about fixing the primary... ... the response from local colleagues "never fvck with something that isn't fvcked"... Their behavior was to only fix something that was 100% faulty, it 'just got by' then it was working !!!... until it isn't... in which case, there's a backup, I lost count of the amount of times we'd switch to the back-up to find out that was also broken !!!
  7. Good info... But - if this were the case, it would happen to all ships in rough weather. So, is it a maintenance issue then ? Fuel filter not changed out ?? Filter clogged up very quickly... Too quickly ? Indeed - a very strange comment.
  8. As per other comments, cutting of the head my cause the snake to 'constrict' further. Apparently spraying / squirting alcohol or vinegar into their mouth causes them to 'let go'. But, I agree, then catch it and kill it so it doesn't get the chance to kill the poor lady (or others) again. ... and for the animal lovers... I just don't care, human life supersedes animal life in 'such specific circumstances' (thought I'd agree there are also circumstance where an animals life supersedes the human life, such a poaching etc).
  9. He could have tried throwing his flower pot at the dog to shut it up !!!!
  10. These idiots should simply travel to the Gaza themselves first... ... See if they even survive it without getting beheaded before brainwashing other likeminded liberal idiots that this is in anyway something other than one of the most idiotic ideas on the planet... "Gays for Palestine" - Hamas wold have them assassinated in a second... The extent of delusion is absolutely astonishing in these people.
  11. Yes, by posting this comment I'm doing exactly the same thing and giving the subject oxygen... ... but really, why is this video even getting oxygen ?... she's just silly a d!ck head, thats notable in the first couple of seconds - swipe on. ... & She'll be heading to the Gambia in a few years....
  12. Indeed.. I'm sure the whole neighbourhood will be thankful for that... However, will the woman be charged with attempted murder ?... this leaves no one in the house looking after the dog, and no one will know what to do with the dog which will end up roaming the area. Some caring soul will start feeding it and it will continue barking all night... ... Problem not solved until someone 'solves' is (usually poisoned meat).
  13. Would you propose that he asked the woman who shot him if he could borrow her gun to shoot her dog ????
  14. True but what if she did have some sort of accident in the process of having some infantile fun. Whether the injury occurred on the conveyor or getting on or off it. I am sure she would expect the airline to compensate her . The Whatifery crowd are out.. .. Its just a baggage carousel hardly like crossing a pond of crocks. much safer than using the escalator and travelators out here !!! She was just having some fun with friends - neitizens and handful of gumpy oldies will turn so much stuff into a 'negative'... No one else around, no one hurt, no one could have been hurt... There's nothing to see here.... Some of you lot are better off directing your 'neitzen outrage' at the lad who crashed the tuktuk....
  15. pmsl...hang on i will just check where i am again If using pmsl... and roflolpmsl etc... then you are clearly still in junior school aren't you juvenile pleb ? !!!...
  16. Seriously - whats the world coming too when people are asking for Police Intervention for people having a little harmless fun... She was just pratting about.. nothing more to see here than someone having a laugh at no-one else's expense.
  17. The need to find a way to discourage motorists from trying to mow-down pedestrians and cyclists first... So long as cyclists and runners (and pedestrians) share the same space as the cars, there will always be a greater element of danger for as long as the cultural and underlying inner-consciousness of Thai drivers believes cyclists and pedestrians are 'just a nuisance in their way'... IMO - Thailand is far better off developing the infrastructure is already has... Run cycling and jogging paths along the many many canals in the area. Fore example - there is a path that runs along the Saen-Saep Canal, but those paths do not link up with other canals... So its not possible to cycle from the Saen-Saep Canal to other areas such a Phrakhanong (which also has a canal system which has no footpath or cycling infrastructure)... which means risking ourselves on the roads with pshyco-drivers.
  18. Are you looking for a medal or a free joint ?.... at this point in time its not clear which !!...
  19. +1... Perhaps you can return to this thread with confirmation once you have placed your application for the renewed Passport at the US Embassy Bangkok and confirm first hand that all they did was 'stamp your existing passport' and allow you walk out with it. (Thats surely going to be of use to the next US person who renews their Passport).
  20. This did happen to me at two hotels in Hua Hun... Nearly all hotels I go to take the Pink ID... But, two in Hua Hun were insistent on seeing Passport. I'm not sure what they would have done had I not had my Passport with me (tucked away in my bag) - I doubt they'd turn away customers, Instead I think they'd just register my Wife as the guest and 'ignore the fact that I was there' so they don't have to bother filing a TM30 thingy... Anyway - IMO, it always pays wherever possible to ensure the Passport is at hand. The Op has clearly made the right decision to double check all of this.
  21. Your expectation is that of a perfectly normal relationship. It raises a red flag if she’s just deciding to go, without even wanting you to go with her. Just making the decision to go, without even discussing it with you raises a bigger red flag. I’m sure the experience of any other couple in a ‘healthy’ relationship such issues are discussed in detail. Given the ‘red flags’ just let her go, she’s an adult & can make her own decisions- but ensure is isn’t going there to cheat on you, because if she is, she could be bringing back STD’s etc (apologies for the brutality of that point, but it must be addressed given the behavior you mentioned).
  22. You are probably eligible for various entry / visa types... It doesn't matter which you use, so long as they are legal and you meet the requirements. No issues with a Visa Exempt entry whatsoever - its up to you what you arrive on. If in the rare chance Thai Immigration were to ask you why you don't get a marriage Visa (Non-Imm O) it wont be because they 'need to know' it will only be because they are being nosey... ... the simple answer to that is 'because there is on need, you're only here for 3 weeks'. You will of course want to ensure you meet the return flight and cash requirements, i.e. - Carry a return ticket (with the return within the length of stay limits) - Carry 20,000 cash (or currency equivalent) In short, this one is an absolute no brainer if planning to stay for 3 weeks. You are a tourist, Visa Exempt Entry is designed exactly for this purpose.
  23. What is the issue with her going to Thailand for a couple of weeks ? Do you trust her ?
  24. Completely wrong as I have said more than a few times My preferred agent Travel Trolley bends over backwards to assist me if I have the slightest issue As for getting help when I booked direct from Eva Etihad or as recently as last March China Eastern the less said the better, Never ever book direct if only for the reason 98% of the time it will be more expensive anyway Twice this current year alone TT contacted me within 45 minutes by Email answering my queries Book with agent and you also have a two pronged attack by getting hold of both agent and the airline And no another utter internet myth that if you book with an agent the airline wont deal with you...utter utter bollacks This just shows how our mileage varies and one persons 'utter bollacks' is anothers true story.... I rarely find flights cheaper through consolidators or online agents than I do when booking directly through the airline... when its cheaper through the agent, there is always some catch, like a longer layover, less baggage etc... when the produce is identical the price saving with the consolidator (or agent) compared to direct is minimal. And as for the final comment above - dealing with the Airlines can easier as they have to follow regulations - though I've had problems with airlines too, dealing with agents has proven troublesome. - When I paid about £2000 for a ticket through an agent (which did offer a decent cost saving than the airline), the flight was later cancelled - I filed for a refund and the Agent said to deal with the airline, airline said to deal with the agent. Agent offered a refund but only 70% of the cost as they had their fees to cover. End of conversation, I contacted ABTA... The response from the travel agent was that they were waiting for a refund from the airline... It took 5 months, but I did get my full refund. IMO - as soon as there is a problem and money is owed - Neither the Airline or Travel agents are particularly helpful at giving you back what is rightfully yours or resolving the situation to your satisfaction. The best I've had is Emirates, who paid compensation for delays of over a day (2x £520) and they paid up within a month... Turkish were awkward and I had to go through ADR, it took them months to pay the €600 months after initially rejecting the claim (bumped off a flight and delayed 24 hrs - stuck in IST).
  25. No, that was not my point, that was your point. OK... So your point is the passengers know who the driver is because of the digital transaction. The fact is the taxi company is stating they know the car, but not the driver. My comment is... "its the usual story... no one can be bothered to make the effort to do something about a mentally deranged driver picking up passengers in a taxi registered to a different driver'. -------- By day you find yourself starting arguments with your own shadow and by night with your reflection ?
