How do you know what a donkey miscarriage tastes like and how to differentiated from horse or a mule... I suspect you may have been eating A$$ instead... easy mistaka-to-maka I guess. ???????? Your comment is also biologically and mathematically flawed.... human pregnancy is measured trimesters’... The gestation period of a donkey is 11-14 months ego, there is no ‘simple’ spit into three befitting of ‘trimester’.... Geeeezzzz... some folk just can’t get it right !! ???????? If the Op doesn’t want his Pizza tasting like an equine miscarriage... a good option would be to source ‘frozen pizza base'.... some of which may be ok, and then add better quality toppings himself...

Rule on running engine while refueling

Anyone remember the Lambo driver who slapped the petrol attendant for spilling fuel on his car ? So... whats going to happen when an unhinged tool with a superiority complex is told what to do by someone in who Thailands pseudo-caste system who is considered way below them ??? -
Rule on running engine while refueling

In perfectly still conditions fumes would sink... with some breeze, movement etc... its possible that the (4x) heaver than air fumes don’t pool immediately (they’re still extremely light). The reality it is still extremely difficult to ignite petrol fumes which require and ideal oxygen-fumes ratio (mix). Thus: while the risk is extremely minimal at best we have all read of disasters and tragedies whereby the ‘perfect storm’ occurred in an otherwise low-risk environment. -
Rule on running engine while refueling

Very true.... a faulty battery. Would that risk be present if the car was running or not? or if the phone was in use or not? Additionally, isn’t a spark or faulty battery more likely to generate an ingnition source when a car is started ?.... I suspect phone use itself could be the trigger for a faulty battery to ‘over-heat’. But... we are edging towards the highly improbable.... IS leaving the car running and using the phone realistically any risk at all ????... I doubt it... but have no objection to turning off the car and not using my phone at the petrol station anyway. -

You're citing source from a regional tabloid which itself uses speculation and suggestion as proof that ‘using’ Mobile Phones can ignite petrol when the article itself mentions other sources.... But you ignore the above and choose this golden droplet as confirmation bias instead... .... its more likely that someone causes a spark when wearing nylon under-crackers !!! -

There are reports of Lithium Ion batteries in phones igniting.... either in peoples pockets or while being charged etc... This is why we can’t carry power-banks etc in our checked baggage etc... So, rather than the idea that any ’signal’ could cause ignition (which is ridiculous IMO), there is a very tiny risk that the phone itself could be an ignition source... It would of-course require the perfect storm of sufficient density of fumes and a litho-ion battery to overheat and ignite at the ‘perfect’ time to cause an incident. -
11 Bodies from Van Crash Sent for Identification
richard_smith237 replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan
It was the medians fault for jumping out in front of the van ??? Of course, it may not have been the drivers fault... he could have had a blowout on the perfectly road legal tyre of his well maintained vehicle.... But... perhaps unfairly, I’ll speculate with the more realistic and perhaps commonly used excuse of lap-nai..... -

Really ??.... people can usually see a line for this stuff.... Are you that ‘odd’ that you can’t see where this line is and cross it with such a crass attempt at humour ??? -
I never implied otherwise... Sheesh indeed !!!... You are providing an example of the BiB being lazy and suggesting it may be SOP for them not to bother to deal with proceedings at the scene of an accident ? More often than not, the BiB attend the scene of an accident... I’d agree with the implication that this does not occur all the time, but ‘most of the time’ the BiB turn up... If there are injuries or serious damage, I’d even argue they turn up all the time. In this event (involving the guy from Manchester) - I find it difficult to believe the police didn’t turn up. Are you [NanLeaw] suggesting that the Police would not turn-up and deal with the carnage and proceedings in this accident when someone was seriously hurt ????

So why is it pretty much universal that we turn of our vehicles and do not use our phones when refusing our cars the counties many of us come from ? Obviously the rule was from times when there was greater risk of the vehicle being a potential ignition source, these days it would just be those poorly maintained vehicles which are a potential source. Turning off the car limits the risk.... Mobile phones.. I too am extremely skeptical about this one... -
When I had a ‘real motorcycle’ I always rode with casual motorcycle boots, with lace covers, to avoid the ’snagging’ issue.... (when going out for a proper ride would fully kit up - mesh jacket & Pants etc). Now I have just a scooter, I still never go out without trainers, gloves, open face helmet if going locally. If hitting a main road (i.e. Petchaburi Rd / Rama IV etc in BKK) road am going to be doing any speed I’ll also put on my Rev’it MC jacket with back protector and full face helmet... No gloves and no sandals is a no goer for me... even a slow slip on gravel etc can really stuff up feet and hands...

I suspect much of the reputation stems from the areas of high tourist footfall, where foreigners are targeted and the Police become over-confident and greedy, making up silly excuses or enforcing innocuous regulations.... that combined with the fact that the they [the BiB] know they can make money by stopping most tourists etc because they don’t have licenses etc... Conversely, riding and driving around Bangkok I’m of no more interest to the BiB than any other vehicle. Then there are the stories generally from provinces where a foreigner gets blamed for an accident which is not his fault (other vehicle going the wrong way or something similar).... In these examples I suspect the Police were being lazy, looking for the path of least resistance and assuming the foreigner has more money so he can pay etc... also there is usually no push-back from the foreigner in such circumstances, they just accept the unfair treatment then write about it on here etc

Maybe YOU don't think you are. You argue that he ‘could’ being ruining the ‘farang’ imagine when being passed by car’s at 130+ kmh ?
-
In sandals ???....... You should donate your balls to the Katana-kaji of Japan , they’ll make the strongest Katana known to mankind !!!
-
Its not safer at all if you are doing 80kmh and all other traffic is passing you at 120kmh....
-
But all are not... and thats the issue... Good luck trying to re-educate the whole of Thailand while sticking to the rules and placing yourself at greater risk.... Agreed... Good luck with that though.
-
Why not? Rationally, I mean. Exactly... when I was involved in an incident... I found the police to be impartial, in the end !! *In the end because initially they believed the other guy and blamed me... until I pushed back, showed photos and showed how the other guy was lying etc (this was pre-dashcam era)... they ultimately sided we me, but in agreement with the insurance guy called it 50/50 as the other party has no insurance (they just wanted the path of least resistance and didn’t really care). I often suspect that in many of the cases where the ‘farang’ is blamed, it comes down to communication, or lack thereof.
-
I did not know that... I always thought that unless the accident is a minor tap where parties agree and move on quickly, that if a ‘serious’ accidnet occurs on a public road the police always come out, especially when someone is hurt or there is contested damage. Vehicles are also not moved until blame can be assigned (by the police officer - which usually causes an awful traffic Jam). This has been my experience (when involved in an accident), also when witnessing an accident (I only had to wait about 5 mins to give the BiB my Dash-cam footage (of a motorcyclists getting hit by a hit n run). Perhaps in the countryside waits are longer or the BiB coming to the scene is less common than it is in Bangkok where a police officer is never more than 5 mins away. In this incident someone was seriously hurt, I find it difficult to believe that a Police Officer did not turn up.

Offshore salary to Thailand.
richard_smith237 replied to Alphim's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Does that also depend on the amount of time one spends in Country ? (i.e. is there a 180 day rule for tax residency etc ?) -
100% agreed.... its exactly the same BS as every previous year. While Thailand has many wonderful facets (I have to add that comment so some butthurt Thai apologist won’t accuse me of being a Thai-basher !!)... one of the most frustrating things about living in Thailand is the utter apathy with which extremely serious issues are dealt with (seasonal pollution / burnings / Pedestrian safety / Road Safety / Water Safety (especially for children).... There is an often overwhelming absence of ‘<deleted><ks given’ about many facets of life here in Thailand... That makes Thailand both a thoroughly enjoyable place to live, but also brings with it the numerous negatives we witness here. Both an enigma and utterly tragic at the same time.

IMO... just like many (most) other rules... they know exactly, they just don’t care because no-one else does. Thailand is very ‘conformist’ in that everyone only follows the rules everyone else follows, they also only break the rules everyone else breaks !!!... There are signs all over every Petrol / Gas station.... they also put a small sign on the bonnet / hood of your car which tells you to... turn off your car, no smoking, no phone use.... So, I’m not so sure many here in Thailand ‘don’t know the rule’... I suspect that its more common that they just don’t care. But.. as you pointed out... one day a disaster will happen, there will be media outrage and everyone will blame everyone else for not turning off their car. Just as everyone was outspoken, there was media outrage about people not stopping at pedestrian crossings (Dr killed), but everyone is blaming everyone else. -
Same here... If the material is soft enough to be comfortable, its also vulnerable enough to fall apart over time.. (same thing on my Bose and its starting to happen on my Sony WH-1000XM3’s). You can get replacement ear pads for most headphones. https://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?q=Earpads+for+Marshal+headphones+&_keyori=ss&from=input&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.search.go.21557313CItHZ7

That's all I've ever worn (weather permitting), whether TH or USA. Besides helmet of course. On a ‘real motorcycle’ travelling at highways speeds ?? (120 kmh / often 120kmh+ consistent riding). (Yes, I know the law is less, but its safer riding at the same speed as the traffic around you). I’m not talking about pottering around town on a ’step through scooter’, spreading the pins feeling the wind blow yer khakies and cooling yer fuffuss !!!
