Second hand car import / lift of ban
The sensible option would be to sell your car in your home country and buy a car here. Look at one2car.com which will give you plenty of prices & options. As for the rest, I see our resident hair-splitting pedant is already destroying the thread.

Am I the only one using (Indian) 'cook in sauces'?
A number of years back I was working in India, I had the secretary plan a nice trip for a couple of days.. By the time I finished the project I was 'India'd out'... exhausted by the relentless attention, my instructions changed from "please arrange a great trip for a couple of days" to "get me on the next flight out of here" !!!.... When asked what was the best part of the work trip, I replied "hearing, Cabin crew, doors to automatic" !!!!! I returned a about a year later, refreshed and with the Wife (then GF), we hired a driver for 5 days, travelled around Delhi and Agra and had an amazing trip with incredible food.... but we had one rule, only eat in 'higher end' restaurants and 100% no street food or drinks.... .... I joked that we are perhaps the only visitors to Delhi who didn't get 'Delhi-Belly'... that single rule "Never eat anything on the street" prevented a ruined trip. That said... I find Indian food outside of India to be better. Other countries take cuisine from other countries and adapt and bastardise the dish towards local tastes.... usually its the British making it more bland, or Thai restaurants in the UK putting something like peas in a Green Curry etc... Conversely, with Indian food, I'd argue the British made it better and the 'British style Indian curries' are excellent... If you know what a Balti is, then you've probably eaten in a UK curry balti house. If you know what a Phaal is, then you've probably witnessed a mate crying into the spiciest curry he's ever eaten because of course you were never stupid enough to take the bet from your mates after 6 pints on a night out and order a Phaal yourself !!!!

Father Releases Dashcam Video of Tragic Hit-and-Run Involving Daughter, Questions Justice
Forgetting about the age for a second. The girl entered a junction that wasn't clear, which indicates she didn't look. The girl appeared to enter the junction before her light changed to green (based on the timing between the light turning red for the car and impact - ±1.6 seconds). Is she 100% free from mistakes ? Of course, the driver of the car is also 100% at fault, but the girl is not 100% fault free, she also made mistakes that lead to the accident.

I'm looking at the video (the picture I posted is from the video). Are you telling me you are incapable of looking at that photo and noting that the car is about 5m or so from the junction ???? It's an indication she possibly jumped the lights because the time difference between the lights turning red and the impact is about 1.6 seconds... Lights in Thailand usually take about 3 seconds for one junction to turn red before the other turns green. You are wrong... there is an overlapping 'all red time' on every traffic light I've seen in Thailand (and anywhere else). The timer you are referring to is the countdown timer for 'your' light. If you are not aware of the (approximate) 3 seconds, you either do not drive, or have not paid attention. Regardless of lights, if you cross any junction without any regard for the possibility of other traffic you are at fault for putting yourself at risk. It shows the light turning red when the car is about 5m before the junction and Amber well before that. Not poor on my part - Poor on her part. With the timing of the lights it would appear she jumped the lights. Its also clear she didn't look. Her actions make her complicit in the incident. Her parents allowing an underage girl to ride a motorcycle are also complicit. That is not to diminish fault of the car driver. No she didn't look. IF she did look she would have seen the oncoming car. Thats pretty obvious. If she were older and had more experience she may have been more 'traffic aware'. The we are watching a different video... I'm not 'looking to victim blame'... however, there is clear fault on her part. Again, not to diminish any fault of the driver, but the young girl (and her parents) are not 100% clear of any fault in this incident. You have contradicted yourself. IF she 'should have waited' and didn't, she made a mistake - ergo there is some fault on her part.

Wild west drama unfolds at Samui Airport: Minibus driver shoots Grab driver in fiery clash
Correct, it was early on. Thats good to know - although its still concerning that they Taxi guys have the 'Airport and ferry terminals locked out, also at some tourist spots. So, I'm assuming that if a GrabCar takes a passenger to the Airport, ferry terminal or tourist spot there is going to be a confrontation between local taxi's and the Grab driver ??? Which means the Mafia are still in control.

Unless she also went through on red and jumped the light. The time difference between the light turning red for the car and impact is about 1.6 seconds. How long do traffic lights allow for one light to turn red before the other turns green ?... I'd say its set at 3 seconds nationwide. So it's possible the lights were set up very poorly, OR, the girl jumped the lights. People who pull out into roads and get hit by a car have not looked. Thus, either she looked and her view was blocked so she couldn't see the approaching car, or she didn't look. The other driver was about 5m from the intersection when the light changed to red (see below - light still on Amber). She was riding under age - Parents fault. It would appear that she jumped the light (or timing was faulty). She pulled out into a junction with an on-coming, which implies she didn't look. The evidence shows that the young girl was 'also' at fault for her part in the accident. Thats not to remove any fault from there driver who ran a red light.

Wild west drama unfolds at Samui Airport: Minibus driver shoots Grab driver in fiery clash
There is... but when visiting there just over a year ago it was impossible to get a Grab. I tried to get a GrabBike - 0% ... No choice but to flag down a Win-rider. I tried to get a GrabTaxi - 0% ... Nothing available at all. I tried to get a GrabVan - 100% available at heavily inflated rates. Thus: In my experience - Grab only works for Vans and the rates are as high as the Mafia pricing.

Wild west drama unfolds at Samui Airport: Minibus driver shoots Grab driver in fiery clash
I read the other thread (now closed) with the headline... [A bit of a fracas at the airport today.] In the opening post [by Tropicalevo] there was no mention of location, but as soon as I read his description of events I immediately guessed Phuket or Samui... Other comments [Nick Carter icp - Things like this happen the World over , just incase you are about to go into *All Thai men are blah blah blah * mode] No... not really, things like this do not happen the World over... they happen in area's of lawlessness where the sense of entitlement of the taxi and van mafia is further enabled by the police who fail in their duty of care to the protect the public to apply any enforcement whatsoever. Welcome to Thailand tourists.... how many families will never return after witnessing this ? How many potential tourists does such news deter ?

Given the timing between the light changing to red (for the car) and the impact, I don't see how the girl went through on green... there was not enough time for her light to change to green (usually its about 3 seconds)... So.... - She either jumped the lights, or, - The timing of the lights was faulty, in which case authorities are also to blame.

Agreed. Though, I don't know why some fool gave you the 'laugh' emoji - your point is extremely valid. Additionally: Motorcyclists ride around, taking illegal chances, without helmets etc... why should the drivers of other vehicles be responsible for someone who is illegally on the road ???? Of course, the drivers / riders of other vehicles making illegal manoeuvres such as running red lights should also be heavily penalised.

Amazing iPhone 15
Absolutely agree... Its often difficult to have discussions about Apple / Android on forum such as this as people always start dropping the 'Apple Fan Boy' or 'Apple Hater' accusations when in reality people just use what they are familiar with. I remember making a switch to HTC, I didn't like it so switched to the Samsung S5 (their premium phone at the time - so thats how far back it was) - I was less than impressed and lasted about 8 months before switching back to Apple. I found the iPhoneX to be a huge upgrade (I'd stepped up from iPhone 7), I next purchased an iPhone 12 mini thinking I'd like the smaller size, I didn't... I went to a 12 Pro Max... I didnt like that size either. I settled on the iPhone 13 (standard) which I've used for about 22 months - its been great and I've no reason to change it. Price is obviously what most people are shouting about and I too find Apple products expensive... thus, I was looking at a switch but the other decent standard phones are also expensive - Xiaomi 13 Pro and thats 39,990 Baht so no cheaper than the Apple. - Oppo Find X5 Pro - 35,900 baht, Thus: Is the switch from Apple worth it at all ?? Those comparing their 3 year old 8000 baht Oppo with a new iPhone and suggesting that the iPhones are too expensive are not making a balance comparison. Compare a 8000 baht Oppo Phone with the iPhone X (even though the iPhone x is a number of years old) and the comparison may be more realistic. IMO - its better to buy a iPhone thats a year or two old and get better value. Ultimately - people are going to prefer to stay with what they know... there's nothing wrong with that. The fools who start levying accusation at others are complete tools - its like arguing over which car is more suitable for us, or which laptop or desk top etc...

Shoei fitment
In that case fair enough.... Although be very careful of the 'shop' as there are fakes around. I can confirm Paddok sells the genuine product, I've purchased 3 helmets from there (2 Shoei and 1x AGV). I can't speak with certainty as I have never compared Shoei open face with full face helmets, however, have you the option to try on a different Shoei model and check the size ? I imagine a brand of that standard should offer consistent sizing across the range.

How to throw out my girlfriend's son out of the house?
There it is... more halfwitted sweeping generalisations from someone lacking the self awareness to comprehend the stupidity of their comments... I imagine that there are many who have dated / are dating women and have married women who already had kids and they are enjoying extremely rewarding relationships.

Get what? That you are very pompous? Already knew. You are insecure so you try to make yourself feel better by getting on your high horse. Yup.. you are no way near clever enough to understand the comment... Buffalo is indeed quite apt. Father Releases Dashcam Video of Tragic Hit-and-Run Involving Daughter, Questions Justice
The car was clearly intent on running the Amber light... and then it was too late to stop when the amber light changed to red while the car is still about 5-10 mins from the junction. In the photo's below (from the video posted in this thread) the light is on amber, just about to change to red, the car is travelling quickly and has no chance of stopping (and shows no intention to). The time from the light change to impact is about 1.6 seconds. Either the lights were faulty and didn't allow enough time between one set of lights turning red and another to turn green, or the girl jumped the lights. Either way, when learning to drive I was always taught to check the junction was clear before entering regardless of the lights. Driver clearly at fault, but was the motorcyclist also at fault ? Any footage out there to show the lights from her side ?

Father Releases Dashcam Video of Tragic Hit-and-Run Involving Daughter, Questions Justice
Usually there is a 3 second or so 'wait' between one light turning red and another turning green. The video shows the Yaris rushing through the light on Amber, the light turns red just as the car crosses the junction threshold, or a split second before. After watching the video it would appear to me that the girl actually jumped the lights. I can't see how the lights could be green unless they were faulty. The car clearly goes through a split second after the light has turned red. The car 'should' have been stopping on Amber. The motorcyclist may well have jumped the lights.

Motorcyclist fatality in Chon Buri prompts lorry’s unusual protective measure
Indeed... Thats that such objects are placed so close to the road all over Thailand is surely one of the leading factors causing death on Thailands roads... ... of course, other factors too... but there are a lot of obstacles to hit in Thailand which are very close to the road.
