Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax

Huge difference with Bull In China shop implementation and targeted tariffs. I really want to see how Trump got that 72% import tax figure from. -
Trump Starts Global Tariff Wall, Thailand Hit with 36% Tax

300%? I think its 0% from China (FTA) and 60% from USA. I suspect most come from China. This is why they are similar prices to the USA. -

Virtue Signaller?? The guy was Ukrainian. -
Not many MAGA faithfulls have the nerve to comment here on this one. It's indefensible. Another brain dead policy of the megalomaniac to rile up the whole world, systematically destroying any relationship USA has with other countries. JD is such a lapdog (despite being another one that actually hated Trump back in 2016) and is excruciatingly hard to listen too with his over inflated opinion of himself and seemingly not knowing basic facts of history. Embarrassing stuff.

Future Uncertain for Retiree Bank Accounts in Thailand
gravity101 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Any transaction that goes through the Visa or Mastercard system incurs a fee, regardless if its a debit or credit card. The fee depends on the arrangement with with merchant. Typically about 1.5% to 2%. When a vendor tries to tag on 3%, they are breaking the terms of service for accepting card payments, and in theory will lose the gateway. But they don't care. -

Not sure thats true. Sending and receiving are different things. Sending money, ie scanning a QR code requires no registration, receiving requires setup as you describe with a phone number etc. -

Phuket Raid Captures Four Foreign Hackers Behind 560M Baht Scam
gravity101 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Scum. Seems they thought Thailand was an easy country to continue operations. Well done Thai police. More of the same please, there are many. My next door neighbours seem up to no good also, can't believe no one has come knocking. 10 odd males with a lot of computer equipment, a fair few bob in cars, awake 24/7.. tourists they are not, a company they are not. If they are digital nomads, that description needs refining, they don't look like your average horticulturalists. -
Thanks. I've have written a letter as per advice above and in it have said my mother has deteriorated quicker than expected and I had to go immediately. I also said I will be in arrivals should they wish to speak to me. Hopefully that's enough. My wife has excellent English, but will be quite lost for words against a Brit IO if she gets a grilling. The letter can be the backstop. But she's with our kids, so I'm not expecting too much friction.

I have to go back to the UK for my mothers last days. My Thai wife and my kids(with dual passports) will travel behind me later. She was just issued a 2 year visa, just wondering what i need to plan for when she arrives in the UK, she has been 4 times before and has always had a grilling and I have been summoned to her at passport control to verify her story. This time I won't be with her. Is there anything I need to be aware of? She did state on the visa application that I would be accompaniying her and my kids, but the plan has changed. Will it be an issue, any experiences? EDIT: We have no return flight booked because of rhe circumstances.

To be fair, it is done like this. A chanote won't be transferred until all payment is made, that's standard if your paying in installments or based on construction conpletion tranches. The developers would face risk otherwis. The weird thing is why they were paying the agent and not the developer, I wonder who the contract was with?

3 foreign men attack Phuket tuk tuk driver over parking dispute

There is already a sustainable solution. Tuk Tuks park on red and whites, parking spots, taxi ranks and pavements. Anyone else gets a police chain around their wheels. -
Foreign Tourist Sparks Outrage by Urinating in Phuket Airport

Rogue riders spark outrage as Phuket police face backlash
gravity101 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Is is maddening this year, an influx of topless, helmetless Rossi wannabees recently, on bikes way too powerful for them. They have to clamp down on them, they don't care about s""t, including police. I did see a rolling stop of such a guy yesterday that surprised me, hope he had his bike confiscated. -
Go straight for the good stuff, a course of Isotretonoin, especially for teenage acne and backne. There is a Thai cheap version, Acnotin. Don't mess around with anything topical or antibiotical just to find out they don't work very well and/or the acne returns, catch it before it effects her mental health and life long scaring. But as this person says, take it under supervision, no sun and monitor liver health. Start off slow, 5mg to check for reactions and take it from there. Will take 4 months to see improvements, but boy does it work. Finish the course, she'll thank you.

British Nationals Arrested with Cannabis and Laughing Gas in Phuket Raid

Bit of a joke. Every bar up in Bangtao sells NOS and weed, its like a children birthday party with all the balloons on the beach. Guarantee they don't have a licence for weed either.
