LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Its not IMO, its very factual. Its already been seen in Thailand with wealthy Thais and remittance for investment. The TRD are walking back that one with draft exemptions to encourage money to be repatriated. We all know the uber wealthy Thais are significant to the economy, the TRD can't afford to lose their participation in tax receipts.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Sounds pretty much the same as me. i guess sticking my head in the sand is too strong a term, but certainly not trying very hard. The BOI certainly know my 'income' as it was submitted during the LTR process, wouldn't seem far fetched for the TRD to have hold of it and put me on a list. Anyway, I was just curious if I was the only one not filing and not really taking it too seriously.. maybe to my detriment. We did all think a LTR visa was a carteblanche licence not to think about tax right?

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Just out of curiosity, is anyone sticking their head in the sand with regards to the taxation issue? Im on an LTR WP, I do have a TIN, but haven't filed for over 13 years since I no longer needed a WP. My money is pooled in various instruments and liquid cash offshore so it would be extremely hard to prove any remittance came from money made that year, even if I wanted to. Am I the only one who's burying they're head? Or should I be more proactive especially with this new information of same year income not being tax exempt. I had a brief chat with the law office that did my LTR and they said do nothing is best.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
Agree. It was pure luck I even had those pages scanned and available on my phone as I'd recently sent them to the marine office on Line. I now have more pages scanned and stored on the phone for easy accessibility for the future. In all my years, this was the first time I had been asked for my 'papers' while out and about.

My permission to stay is actually 2027 as that when my passport expires. I didn't have a scan of that page on my phone.

LTR Visa is Now available for Long Term Residency
I got caught up in an immigration check at a villa construction site last week. Had to show them a scanned copy of my pages. Wow, some really didn't have a clue what a LTR visa was. Said it was expired (they assumed the 2034 stamp was 2024 and Interestingly; his mobile phone where he was looking me up did not know of my LTR (or he couldn't find it), and only knew of my cancelled Non-O from 2024. That was a bit freaky) then said it wasn't real (I think), they really thought they had a big fish in amongst the Burmese workers. I was put up against a wall! Took a good 10 minutes until someone with a clue interjected and let me leave. (Not after one of them trying to start a WP conversation, which I shot down - I wasn't working).

'Illegals are laughing at us' - migrant farce continues
Of course you would, as would I. Let's say, hyperthetically the UK processed an applicant in 1 day; zero need for ALL the free stuff they get right now. They would be free to add to the workforce, pay tax and be a net positive, or if found to be a bogus claim, sent back to point of entry. Either way, none of this free accomodation and food and basic health would be needed. Maybe the we should be addressing the causes rather than barricading the ramparts. This is the main objective of international aid, to try and stop things at source. It may sound idealistic, but show some humanity.

To be fair, UK has a lot of kebab shops too.

They do. Germany, Poland and France all have more refugees than the UK does. And countries like Spain are on equal footing in terms of refugees to the UK. Turkey significantly more. Maybe they like the UKs food and climate 😉

'Illegals are laughing at us' - migrant farce continues
A little bit of research goes a long way. Just a heads up, 53% were refused asylum in 2024 pending appeal. And as for asylum fraud, well you look up how its being addressed and countered. Do you really think, knowing how much of a political football this is and the financial strains it puts on the UK, everyone is just rubber stamped in by officialdom - get real, thats a lazy uninformed opinion. From the Gov As of June 2024, the total ‘work in progress’ asylum caseload consisted of 224,700 cases. Of these, around 87,200 cases were awaiting an initial decision and 137,500 cases had received an initial refusal and were awaiting some kind of further action. The total asylum caseload has quadrupled in size since 2014, driven both by applicants waiting longer for an initial decision and a growth in the number of people subject to removal action following a negative decision.

'Illegals are laughing at us' - migrant farce continues
Correct. Now go find out the real political reason why there was a massive slowdown in processing.

'Illegals are laughing at us' - migrant farce continues
Its exactly what it means. Unless you really know a different criteria you'd like to share? I've read multiple places its a very high bar to get asylum.

If the government processed them quicker they wouldn't have to give any freebies.

SCB, no more exemption from facial recognition in app
I haven't heard of any bank withdrawing internet service here. As for UK banks; I manage my fathers Natwest, and wow do you have to jump through hoops to transfer money or pay bills. Every other question is, 'Do you know this person', 'Are you sure you trust this bill'. 'Do you know what a scam is' as you navigate to do something. I still have a 1000 Pound transfer limit/Bill payment limit. "Sorry for this amount you will have to come into the branch". It's not just Thailand. Anyway, this Thailand issue its about mule accounts and being scammed, not the tech.

SCB, no more exemption from facial recognition in app
Nice lady, she was joking it was such a protracted process. She took some photos of my mug, scanned all my passport pages and entered a few questions into a system, occupation, telephone number, email address. I was also enrolled into the e-passbook (about time they got rid of those passbooks!). She then said to update limits I need to call the call center. I just did, and I was told I didn't need to. The app isn't very clear about this ('Change transaction limit with face scan'), but she said anything ABOVE that number (In my case it says 50k) will require a face scan and their isn't an upper limit that can be changed on the app. "You can send 2m at one time with face scan", was her answer. Mine is still maxed out at 50k. I then checked by sending 100k to K Bank, and it worked WITHOUT a face scan. So I'm lost If I actually achieved anything today.

SCB, no more exemption from facial recognition in app
I had a 3 month exemption via the call centre. That has now gone since yesterday and I'm back to 50k/200k. I don't have salary slips or a salary certificate (what is that anyway?) nor do I have annual tax payment information. So I'm stuck at first base. Looks like I'm off to a branch to see what can be one.

SCB, no more exemption from facial recognition in app
Sorry, I dont understand your posts. Way too much drama in them. Aren't we just talking about app limits on a bank account, that may or may not be revised anyway? Its not imminent war or pestilence, nor has Lucifer risen in Thailand to destroy farrangkind.
