  1. Lolz! Thailand: The only country in the world where paying for a BJ is just as easy as buying a pack of chewing gum at the corner 7-11, but you're not allowed to visit pornhub.com. ????
  2. "The emperor wears no clothes." Sadly, I foresee an 'attitude adjustment' with Khun Supharothatrangsi's name on it.
  3. That’s funny - I came through Narita on Friday also, and it was a chaotic, disorganized, dysfunctional mess. As soon as the passengers on my flight deplaned, an agent intercepted all of those passengers who were bound for Bangkok at the arrival gate and proceeded to march us all (at breakneck speed) to what seemed like the opposite end of the airport (my feet were killing me by the time we finally stopped walking!) From there, passengers were sorted into queues according to fare class and instructed to wait our respective turns for document verification (mind you, the documents they wanted to verify were the same documents which were required for approval of COE or TP - talk about redundant!) Anyway, after waiting for about 30 minutes, the line hadn’t budged - the Japanese agents were clearly struggling to make sense of it all. Eventually, they tried extracting smaller groups of passengers from the queues and moving said groups to different locations. Many of the passengers were losing their cool at this point. By the time my turn rolled around, I was seriously wondering whether the flight to Bangkok would end up being delayed. Talk about a total waste of time and energy…
  4. Yes, it means something like “white person,” but few Thais will tell you this to your face.
  5. Yep. Try to pin almost any Thai down when it comes to the meaning of the term “farang,” and he’ll insist it means “foreigner.” Then, ask him if Japanese or Koreans are “farang” also. “Oh, no, no!”
  6. LOL - you beat me to it. We should be hearing about a new proposed quadruple pricing scheme for farang any day now. Good question. Caucasians: Foreigners. Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, et al: Not foreigners.
  7. Applicants also need to bear in mind that the document screening process which connecting international airports (e.g., Narita) are struggling to set up is probably even more stressful than the TP application process itself. A nightmare beyond description ( ask anyone who came through Narita en route to Thailand this past week.)
  8. FWIW, I just entered Thailand two days ago, and no one said a word to me about the app.
  9. Planning? What’s that? Don’t you know Thailand operates on the “mai pen rai” principle? ????
  10. Utterly false. The author needs to take two minutes to check the website of the nearest Thai embassy or consulate, where he’ll find the message, written in plain English, “COE approved prior to 1 November still valid for entry.”
  11. Yep. 9/10 of their problems stem from the fact that (a) they don’t know anything about the people they’re proposing to attract, and (b) they’re not interested in finding out.
  12. More like pretend soldiers none of whom have ever been in an actual shooting war.
  13. Thailand: “Thais are superior to the dirty farang in every conceivable way.” Also Thailand: “Come (hopefully by the millions) farang, because we can’t survive without you.”
  14. There seems to be much confusion on the part of the Thailand Elite staff re: the TM30: As ubonjoe correctly pointed out, there was a new order in June of 2020 which stipulated that a new TM30 was only necessary if the foreigner changed addresses or entered with a new visa. However, when I inquired about the aforementioned order, the TE rep didn't seem to have a clue about it - in spite of the fact that I attached a copy of the order (in Thai language) to my message. I simply received the following standard/canned response: My question "will I need a new TM30 receipt after I enter this Thursday, or can I use the last one?" was completely ignored.
  15. Thanks for the info. This raises another question I have: When I arrive at BKK this Thursday, my passport will be valid for another 10 months. Will I receive the usual 12 month permission to stay stamp, or will I only get a 10 month permission to stay stamp?
  16. Pretty sure you can ignore the "no less than 7 days" sentence now. A soon as the quarantine-free (i.e., one night) entry was approved, my ASQ hotel contacted me with the details of my refund (my original booking was for seven days.) They've already advised me re: my anticipated checkout date/time (pending negative PCR test result) and have arranged ground transportation for me from hotel to my residence.
  17. Reading this thread, I'm grateful that my COE was approved prior to 1 November and that I can still use it when I fly on Thursday. What a mess!
  18. Am I reading this (or the OP) right? For an additional 400K they will upgrade you to a 20-year membership?
  19. When I try to access the website, the request times out and I get the “not found” notice. As for the app, I can enter username and PW, but when I tap “enter,” nothing happens. Re: new regulations: Thailand Elite is advising me that I still need to submit a TM30 when submitting a 90 day report.
  20. Well, the app isn't working, and neither is the website. How the F are we supposed to comply with the TM30 requirement?
  21. Reading this thread, I'm all the more grateful that I applied for a COE prior to 1 November. What a mess!
  22. The Thailand Pass app won't accept the six digit code associated with my COE either. Another winner from those Thai IT geniuses.
  23. Strange - my revised certificate was available about 24 hrs after my COE was approved. It still says “not less than 7 days,” but there’s some additional fine print following that sentence that says “eligible for quarantine-free entry,” etc.
