To be honest Stevie, although maybe not what one would call "ideal", i think we should have stuck with Erikkson for longer.
But i'd also like to see what the "special one" could do
i'd have stuck with eriksson too man. he took lazio to the serie a title when he had money to spend there, so i think he'd have done similarly well at city.
if mourinho doesn't win the champions league this season he'll probably be available in the summer. . .
when the special one doesnt win......

Besides Tesco/Carrefour, is there any other places in Bangkok with a good varied range of rice cookers worth recommending?
I browsed Tesco/Carrefour today, the range was limited, basically just the cheapo large 10 cup cookers. I cook for myself so a 3-5 cup cooker is more practical. Maybe Zojirushi or Tiger rice cookers are available in Bangkok?
Thanks in-advance
After reading your post and subsequent follow-ups, I am wondering if you are serious. Just because its a 10 cup rice cooker, doesnt mean it can't cook 2 cups.
As for the brands you mention above, never heard of them - only those little known international brands like Toshiba, Panasonic, Philips.
OH and by the way, if you open one up, you will see most now include a little plastic tray for steaming.
As one other poster put it, Rice Cookers are the most common appliance sold in Thailand and probably Asia. Like a tuk tuk driver, found on every corner.

I'm beginning to wish that Mark Hughes was still there
That's the funniest thing you have posted in 10 years.

Dropped in for a look and lunch today. Very quiet but so was soi 11 as a whole.
Decor
First impression, not huge, but clean and very modern. Consists of an indoor aircon area with a big screen or two. A small area to buy UTD t-shirts and stuff.
The outdoor patio area is very nice - almost lounge like, with a small bar and couch / table seating. House music played quietly in the background.
Menu
A mix of usual stuff including burgers, starters plus higher-end fare. An extensive (expensive) Thai menu is included.
Prices are down the middle 200++ for most pub style grub and upwards for the larger more refined meals.
Beverage
Bottled beer 120 baht, but I saw they had a happy hour buy 1 get 1 for draft I guess.
I ordered a penne arabitica which was quite good overall and a pepsi. Total incl service charge 394 baht.
Conclusion
To early to tell, will need to check it out in the evening but can say this is more of a 'trendy' spot than a real pub type atmosphere. assuming tourism returns to normal, it should do ok with all the hotels in the area.

They keep their mouths shut, pretending to be in a mood. I wonder if they had fights with their Mia/Mia Noi just bfor start working. They would throw me out if i tried to talk with em
and .... I was drunk sometimes.
They were just eyeing you up via their rear-view mirror thipsy. Be careful!

After much overnight thought (zzz) on the subject, I think I figured it out...
What they were really checking was to ensure the Thai-bound travellers had the following...
1) Tattoos
2) Shaved heads
3) Muscle shirts
4) Muay Thai underwear
5) Tranlastion to Thai for "Bloody Heck, Fly Off, Dik Head"

But a spokesman for Liverpool said on Tuesday night: “Mark Lawrenson’s remarks are his interpretation of a private chat between the two of them. They do not accurately reflect Steven’s opinion of Robbie Keane and they certainly do not tally with Steven’s recollection of the conversation itself.”
And the rest of the reportage in the TELEGRAPH as you recommend!
You see the statement from the LP spokesperson - interesting that it says the statement does not reflect stevie g's opinion of robbie keane. It's a bit like me saying The Vulcan's statement doesn't reflect how Stevie W feels about Keane.
The way to handle this is to have Stevie G make a comment to clear it up - quick.
Good fun though.

no because i haven't any SAT... what's the argument about these shows?
no argument mate, just trying to help you keep this somewhat thai related. chao bella

with military and sercet services controlling the whole country
Oh no.... now, we have the conspiracy theorists posting in the travel forum.
Perhaps you ain't been back to the UK for a while and forgot what it's like. But personally, i'd prefer to live in a rundown shanty town or impovirished Isarn Village than i would a slum in Bradford, Paisley, Northern Island or even London.
And talking about poverty, besides the usual tourist areas of Thailand, i see more beggars on the streets of the UK than i do in Thailand.
Don't imagine there are many beggers in your issan village.

OP, have you tried booking directly with airline websites instead of just Kayak?
I was quite pleased since about a year back that certain airlines' online reservations (not the ones you mentioned though) had become cheaper than even my usual travel agents... and surprised to find out even more recently that even another airline I take which used to be very expensive directly but cheap via travel agents... had become very cheap online from the airline's official website; at par or even cheaper than with my usual travel agent. (It's possibly I may just have been lucky though, maybe with 'special flights' or whatever...)
However, some of these online airline bookings require that you fly while carrying the actual same credit card you used for the booking, which they check before you board; and they won't let you fly if you're not carrying it with you.
These were Cathay Pacific, Emirates....
Hmmm, everytime I fly with Emirates I use the same credit card and not once has anybody asked to see it. guess you didn't hear about that one wiki either

Liverpool ready to offload £20m flop Keane in January, says Gerrard
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has hinted that Robbie Keane could leave Anfield in January.
The Ireland striker has struggled to make his mark on Merseyside since arriving from Tottenham for £20.3m in the summer and has been linked with a move back to White Hart Lane.
Republic of Ireland captain Keane, who has spent the last two Premier League games on the bench, is determined to fight for his place, reports the Times.
But former Reds defender Mark Lawrenson, in an interview with Irish radio station Today FM, said: 'Sorry to name drop but I had a drink with Steven Gerrard at a function on Saturday night, and we were talking about Robbie Keane.
'He was saying to me that they [Keane and Gerrard] share the same agent and he thinks something is going to happen with Robbie Keane in January.
'He thinks he's going to be moved on.'
Tut tut! - selective reporting "James" - Gerrard distanced himself from these comments and Lawrenson also admitted he DID NOT have this conversation!
Shame on you
What are you talking about?, open any site Telegraph, Daily Mail, Guardian, Independant.

I cannot find the hotel special offers
We are going down to Koh Samui on the 20th for a weekish. Maybe into New Year. Bangkok Airways are offering reduced prices on flight. Fair enough. These are easy to find as they are advertised as 'Special Offers' etc...
However, looking for 'special offers' on hotels in Samui is not so simple. Any advice???
We have booked into a hotel in Chaweng for a couple of nights, so could then go to a local travel agent in Samui or wander around the hotels if thats the way best to get a good deal. Budget per day is about 2000 Baht.
Any advice would be much appreciated...
thanks
try the samui forum perhaps, the lads in there have a better handle (i hope) of what's happening on the ground.

I see a new stadium had been unveiled...but no name sponsor yet. Perhaps we can suggest a few. Only guessing but me thinks the design has already met with the approval of said sponsor. But in case it hasn't been desided yet, let's chime in with our ideas...
1) Broken Heart Lane
2) T6
3) The Chicken Coup
4) The White House
5) Harry's Mansion.com
6) ....

But one story caught my eye and is a good jumping point for an introduction to the new layout...
I too like the new format... but as Wolfie says... slow on the load time.
Not wishing to detract from the subject matter, but the linked article does say the following:
"Beau says pole and Go Go dance may look similar but they are not the same. Go Go dancers mainly perform all tempting postures around the pole with an aim to entertain guests in bars or discotheques, but pole dancing, despite its sensual postures, is more of an art and body exercise."
This is so very true.
I wonder if we will see a new trend in local house / condo design incorporating home pole dancing?

Stevie you half Irish too? I thought you were just stubborn from being Scouser, now I know why.
You know the difference between an Irish wedding and an Irish funeral?
One less drunk. (If I make fun of my own heritage, is it racist?)
My mom's family is while my father's family comes from Blackpool.

I hope they get Souness, Blackburn are a pointless club whose fans know nothing about football, they used to give Shearer sh7t despite him being the main reason their pointless club won the league. Maggie Thatcher used to be their Director, which is another reason for wanting them to go down.
The upside of hiring Souness is we won't have to listen to him on the Champions League broadcasts anymore.
