  2. Can confirm that Dave's nephew flew over last week and the body went back to England to a Crematorium..
Cost a Million or so (Baht) to do it but small fry shall we say!!
    Richest man in the proverbial...

He lived well and couldn't spend it, as he always said to me.. RIP x

Sounds like he was either very ill or worse. You could check with the local hospital. There aren't that many in cm.

He never went to hospital, he was taken from his room shall we say in a body bag :(

He certainly didn't come across very ill at all...walked miles every day, i saw him 3 times a week in basic line bar, full of life (pardon the pun) 4 beers in different bars every night, loh kroh, muan muang soi 1 etc...Must of been sudden, as he looked healthy..maybe we will never know..but he always used to say  "every day could be your last" mmm..

It would appear that we have received reasonable confirmation of his passing.   Thank you for your patience on this.

It sounds like he was a respected and appreciated member of the community.   My condolences to his friends, family and the many people who appreciated and will miss his posts.

    RIP

Has it been confirmed, July 1st is not so long ago especially if away.

If it is confirmed then it is a sad loss to those who knew him personally and this forum will surely miss his regular photo contributions, which were the best.

Yes apparently so, as i indicated in my original post...
He was taken from his room over a week ago by medical personnel in their chosen apparatus shall we say!!!..He didn't just leave his place and avoid posting on 'Thai Visa' or take a trip!!!
Reefs were laid by his motorcycle, from many people living in his condo...
chatted and had a beer with him a week ago, he seemed perfectly fine and healthy to me, exercising and having a few beers..
For those who need further information you can ask at his apartment..

  7. The famous Photographer Dave2  and a good friend of many of us, who often frequented this forum with his photos and wit.

I heard from a good friend who lives in daves apartment block that he has passed away and that many sets of flowers have been placed on his old red honda motorbike outside...furthermore we heard medical staff were in his room  and he was taken away..
Not seen Dave for a week (usually see him 3 times a week or so in basic bar) , does anyone have any more information?

  8. in chiang mai all bars have to close at midnight, police check every where

worse than before curfew, no chance to watch fotball in a bar after 1 am

The Red Lion is showing it according to today's post on their Facebook Page!!!

The Red Lion will show the England v Uruguay game at 2am. Due to extra costs involved there will be a minimum charge of 250b per person.

Yes the Guy (Dave) From Singapore, who lived in London for years, and his wife started a few months ago selling around the moat.
He spends around 1 hour outside Blue Sky Bar( Muan Muang) every night, and probably sells between 10-20 portions on a good day at the bar.
Very good value for 50 baht, but hardly red snapper or john dorry(more like a fishcake). Chips are mcdonald's style,he also does good tarttar sauce and nice bbq sticks.
    He also sells Electronic Cigarettes!

  12. Does anyone know where i can buy a replacement (Bucket Style) seat for my Fino.I would rather just buy a totally new one as opposed to a recovering as their are so many slits through to the foam now,and especially in rainy season one will have a wet behind very often biggrin.png
Iv been to few yamaha garages but no luck, the odd one but not the colour i need (Red)

Below is the original seat when i bought it a few years back.Cheers

  13. Definately not trolling, it happened.

The bill was for numerous beers and 5 meals. We defeinately had 3 beers each played some pool and did not even eat a peanut. There were no bargirls in the place either we chatted and played pool with a group of other farangs (brits). Yes we used the toilet but apparently that was free. I do not know the name of the place as have been to a bar 3 times in my time here but apparently it is up for sale with a price tag of 2 mil baht. Saw the posters on the wall.

For those of you that suggested I was trying to get an alabi, I don't know what I needed one for as we committed no crimes. I even had my wife (thai) attend to help and try sort it out.

Yes I was really pissed off when I 1st posted and it was the priciple of being taken and not the money, lesson well learnt.

Dont think Lucky is up for sale and that is half french/thai, b&b Sugar bar has been up for sale about 2 years for 2 milion or so,but thats after loh kroh next to 7 eleven and jammers delight ...

A previous poster said the french guy next to Lucky at B*ue Bar doesnt call the police!!!!!

Just drive past the bar in question and give the many posters a clue, some know already im sure smile.png

  14. Why would the brits be going into a french run place on their first night in Thailand, anyway? I thought they hated each other. Can't see the Bib coming to the rescue of a foreign bar owner, either. Blue Sky Bar? Rife with prossies.....No prices posted, I'm bailing, period.

I don't think anyone here will deny that there are loads of scams in LOS, but this was not one of them. Three barfines, perhaps? I know someone that had a 4000 THB bar bill, during a two hour layover at JFK, and that was 20 years ago.

What a totally ridiculous and unfounded comment

1.Blue Sky is a THAI run bar and have very well respected owners,no barfines allowed.

2.Certainly not full of "Prossies",very rare for a girl to come in on her own, mostly expats come in to play pool and drink cheap beer (Large Leo and Chang 60b all day!!!)

3.Me and many of my friends have been coming here most days for 4 years or so,and ran up bills that always tallied up.

4.Prices are shown on a Menu at the entrance to the bar,and menus are also behind the bar.

5.Im a Brit and have many french expat friends, most of the french i know like to associate with us rather than their occasional stuck up fellow countrymen in CM.

    Get your facts straight

Is it the Blue Moon then, as another poster stated. I plan on verifying the 60 thb large. Another bar in the family acceptable no go-go/no bar fine, everything on the up and up.....yeah, we've heard that before....one or two sponsors come to mind.

An aforementioned bar from a previous post with "Blue" in its name is french/thai run.Very close to Lucky shall we say!!!! Prossies also.

Dont know a blue moon, maybe you are thinking of half moon, but that is also thai owned,on soi 2 opposite happy bar.

  16. Interesting you should say that...I have lived here for 5 years, and everyone i speak to says it is the quietist songkran they have seen for a long time!!!!

Ok,granted KSK and TP Gate are rammed as per,but to get from chiang phuek to moon muang at 3pm only takes 5 mins on the back roads as opposed to 20 plus the last few years.Even the thais think it is pretty subdued...

Busiest Songran I've experienced in the last 14 years. The moat was gridlocked on all 4 sides for much of the afternoon. The last time I remember this was many years ago.

OK a few farangs were knobs, but I also noticed the vast majority were having a great time and not being too obnoxious. I experienced a very positive afternoon.

    3 days still to go.
