  1. True Visions ridiculously don't show the UEFA games at all, so no chance of even watching it the next day, unless there's somewhere with a dish that actually receives it. However, they are showing Birmingham v Newcastle at 0245, which will be repeated the next day.........I mean why would anyone want to see a couple of the world's best teams play a UEFA match, when a meaningless Birmingham v Newcastle game is available?

    Many Uefa cup games on truesports 1-5 tonight(Friday am).Including Liverpool v sparta,rangers vs sporting,benfica v stuttgart.

More info - just google true visions, bangkok post or the nation newspapers

  2. Without trying to stir up a hornets nest,i know at least 5 0r 6 ex military young guys(para's mostly) living in cm who wont go in the old bell.

Why u ask...well,ie as well as other small non descript things, they have british legion nights(which is good),but for god's sake the sign is a UNION JACK,and it is inside out!!!!!!!! <deleted>.

    just not cricket

  3. Cm saloon no2 will be the best place imo with an atmosphere also,as is every year, with a buffet breakfast.

sugar bar 2,if bill is opening early and gets a crowd is ok but no big screen(only 42inch)

  4. Agree with everything written in response to Chiangmai Foxy. 'Better late than never' would be my attitude to the recent converts. And Mr Foxy's 'I was here first, I've been going for the past two seasons' attitude won't get him very far. Chiang Mai United were formed in 1999 when the old Provincial League was launched. They used to play in pink and have an elephant on their crest instead of a tiger, but it is essentially still the same club. We can only assume ChiangMai Foxy was a "closet plastic fan" from 1999 to 2008.

I do realise that, and im sorry if i was a bit out of order, but it wasnt a drunken rant for no apparant reason(12am!!!!!!)is not late(it is if you are a teacher) as some people do actually live here and do not have to work at all under 35 years of age...I also used to see cm united in pink at the municipal stadium at chiang phuek municipal so im no newbie at all.I was a leeds united fan home and away until i moved here 5 years ago,and luckiy i dont need to work again so i try to go to as many england games as i can away from home, and leeds when i go on holiday.Cmfc is for the people and its undivided passion,i will be there behind the goal to left as you walk in with 50 farang,so come for a beer.Merry xmas

Respect to Korat vinnie, you know more about cmfc than 99% of our fans.

ps on the grapevine mr brett may play a part tommorow, but faces a late fitness test

Must admit its good many 'Farang' are now going.Even my mates who have just started going this season are getting in 'Farang Talk'

  5. Maddog has a buffet at 395 baht, listed on their website. maddoglooks like a good deal as well.

but not for under 35's lol.

americans over 60 talking about the grand prix and american history is the norm, and a chain smoking host on the roadside!!!!

just an opinion from my experience .free speach and all

  6. I read that there were 23,000 supporters at CM's last game at home

    Is this true?

If so thats for than some Premier League teams get :o

What's the capacity of the stadium?

i have been to every home game this and last season and def not 23k lol more like 15 max. buriram was the big game, maybe 19k that game was over stated crowd wise also from t-sports etc.no inside info or anything just got on good auth from the sister of a midfielder who i know well (jing jing lor!!!).

any so called cmfc fan who doesnt go on xmas day is a closet plastic fan who prob supports man u(rinals) and gets in farang talk and has only been going this season.rant over.cmfc tiger army...on and on

  7. I had a great time. Met a few people new. Couldn't go upstairs so I missed some which is a bit sad....luckily we left before Wolf5370 started dancing. Great host great place and even better the main part has been made accessible for wheelchairs....a sign of a great host.

Did Mr Pillion turn up to the party and reveal his 'identity'?

  8. you sit where ever you want and if you cadge a lift with me from the Red Lion, Im going to the old bell after so, even if you don't sit with me, you'll know where I parked and I'll wait for you at the end in the car.

That would be great. Now all we can do is hope for fine weather on the night, and a deluge in Adelaide over the next two days...

free lifts from yorkshire folk (leeds myself) dont stretch to deluded aussie cricket fans lol

  9. Many thanks everybody. Avoiding the score reminded me of a very early Likely Lads episode with James Bolam and Rodney Bewes trying to avoid finding out the score all day long. Classic.

Its on Truesports 1 and plenty of places will still be open.

Definates include Blue sky bar(frequently closes after 4am),Lucky bar,Sp*cy,Some back street bars behind soi 1 moon muang, alot of bars stay open even for 1 or 2 customers

  11. I'm afraid I have to admit something stupid.

With the immense excitement I am feeling at the thought of being in such a "elite" club, I talked a rider last night into taking me around the moat.

I knew what my plan was but I did not tell the rider.

When we came to the N/W corner I plucked up the courage and took my hands off the hand rail and put them on my lap.

I must admit that it felt wonderful for a second, but then I started to feel scared, I started shaking and nearly lost my balance! so I grabbed the hand rail like my "pillioness" depended on it!

I am aware that it was stupid to attempt such a "trick" without the correct training first, it was obviously just me getting carried away with the feeling.

I will try not to do something rash again, but it really is such a temptation.

I take it that it is still ok to try these tricks stationary at home? or is that still a little risky?

    Tough guy.

Foxy, I think you may have not read the entire thread before making this comment as it seems it's purely a thoughtless observation wrapped up in your own personal opinion with little knowledge! However, after reading this comment you may also realise we all do this from time to time.

I'm sure, like myself, there was no malice intended in your comment and was meant in jest. ...... Least we all hope so!!!!

Of course it was meant in jest. The best thread of the year by far.

  12. 700 lol I think more like 1500-1800 from buriram would be more precise amongst a crowd of at best 12000,they out sung us most of the game!! Very organised.think they earnt there 300baht each if true

From the Thai league website :

Buriram defeat Chiang Mai 1-0 in big division 2 Champions League fixture in front of over 15 000 fans

One piece of realism you got wrong :(

    Mai pen Rai

  13. 700 lol I think more like 1500-1800 from buriram would be more precise amongst a crowd of at best 12000

A bit more than 12,000 i think ;) , the main stand must hold 7,000, 1,500 Burriram so your saying that there was only 3,500 people in the rest of the ground :o

    ,

they out sung us most of the game!!

A big away following will always out sing a home ground due to them being more fanatical and diehard regardless if they get paid or not.

Very organised.think they earnt there 300baht each if true

Draw would of fair, but this highlights we have a lot of work to do if promoted for next season, only Number 4 sawut(spelling)is semi class for cmfc

Cm were missing there so called 3 best players and took off the no4, any team is going to struggle without these or perhaps you failed to notice this as it seems that you were paying more attention to the Burriram supporters ;) .

It seems that the general negativity of the Chiang Mai thread is now transpiring to the football thread :o .

Congratulations to Chiangmai Foxy, the first person to show any negativity towards the team on the football thread :annoyed: .

Just a bit of realism,oh sorry what i meant to say was

Unlucky cmfc, you are the best team in thailand and there is no room for improvement whatsoever.slurp

  15. Chiang Mai probably didn't deserve the win but had done enough for the draw.

Buriram had a very strong midfield and a defense as well drilled as their uniformly orange-clad crowd. Rent-a-crowd if ever I've seen it (the figure of 700 quoted earlier seems about right). Reminiscent of North Korean state celebrations.

A figure of 20,000 attendance was announced at half time, which I'm not too sure about, but the stadium was almost full, which is nice to see.

Anyway, can't really begrudge Buriram their victory.

For me, the evening was somewhat tainted by the wholly inappropriate half-time donation by Chidchob of 100,000 baht to CMFC, greeted with unanimous cheering from the crowd.

A clearer example of politics exploiting football could not have been made.

  16. I'm still hunting an England shirt for the WC - I have found some England shirts but they are the wrong design - I've tried everywhere - the Thai's haven't caught on yet that there's a little bit of a 'do' on in South Africa soon and they might make a few baht - strange really...

Hi - yes I know but they are the wrong design - they are not the England shirts with the red cross on etc. the one I saw was red with a round collar and looked like the 1966 shirt not the new one - sorry - if you get the new design let me know and I'll buy instantly!

This is what you should be buying (This is the real world cup shirt/home) Also check for the usual official england team product band at the base of shirt, rubber hologram

  17. hi guys,my first post in a while, although been living here a year already this time.

Anyway,i saw a great deal in the paper flyer for big c.they sold out every big c in hours!!!

    dell notebook

    14 inch

    pentium dual core 1.8ghz

havnt tried pantip or computer city yet,but tried tesco and not good value.

    cheers everyone

  18. Hi all, hope i can get some input on this.

I am living in c mai and want to train to be an english teacher.

I know many teachers, most did the tefl course at text and talk academy, some at cmu.

Many reccommend text and talk and a few say cmu is better.text and talk is 44000 baht whereas cmu is 52000.

Would a school prefer a tefl from one or the other? or is the tefl the the most important requirement as opposed to where you aquire it from.

    any help is much appreciated
