Report Thaksin Faces Possible Resentencing Over Hospital Stay

Any more relative he can make Prime Minister. -
That has been tried before. Most recently red and yellow shirts. Admittedly they were ‘employed’ by the powers that be. The only thing that really made these people stand up and take notice with a high level of fear was Pita and Move Forward. That genuinely frightened those that hold power. The message was clear to the old powers, voters were tired of the old games and want, comparatively, radical change.

OK, I know that this will turn out to be another absurdity dreamed up by someone sitting at a desk thinking they need to be productive (a momentary branding fart here). That said, the very idea is dystopian. They already have cameras, many not working, everywhere do they really need to be this intrusive to chase people down for a crime that is of such little relevance or harm to society.

What is going on in this case is reprehensible. That said, the Thai view on these things is somewhat different. My Thai wife of 27 years a ways reminds me (and I paraphrase) … they are dead anyway, justice/revenge will not bring them back, the money will make things better for the living. Cold but pragmatic.

You are right, the vaccine for HPV is not very effective. HPV is not harmless. When I was diagnosed with cancer the pathologists report showed it was chocker block full of HPV. HPV was of course the cause of the cancer.

Report Police Clamp Down on Prostitution to Protect Pattaya’s Image
chilli42 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Oh please. Yes, Thailand has not created the opportunities to lift people out of survival mode. That said, I see young men and women working day in and day out for a pittance doing mind numbing manual labour. Sure the temptation to live a life of crime and reap the easy money must be high. They choose not to and show up every day doing the best they can to get by through “honest work”. I am not bashing those that have chosen a life of prostitution. It’s their life, their choice, and I don’t walk in their shoes. I take issue with the idea that they somehow had no choice. That diminishes those that make the hard choice and show up every day to do “honest work”. -
Economy Thailand Sets Sights on Growing Sustainable Protein Market

Would it be too much to ask exactly who is leading this initiative in Thailand? Who is making the investments to seize this lucrative business opportunity? How about a bit of basic journalism. This comes off as a puff piece for those who are drinking the climate change Kool-Aid -

Exactly how is this making it safer to fly? Has there been a uptick in bombs smuggled in women’s mascara containers? -
I am not a pilot so no judgement here. I thought these small propeller driven planes had a large amount of glide factor. Such that they could at least make a horizontal landing. This plane is going down at 90 degrees. Now I will have to find some other myth to console myself when flying in small aircraft.

Bangkok Bites Back: Register and Chip Your Pets by Jan 2026
chilli42 replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It’s a step in the right direction. However, as with all things like this in Thailand there will be no follow up or enforcement and it will end up as one more useless set of laws that sit in an ever expanding book of unenforced laws. A pity, some worthwhile ideas here.- 49 replies

Thai Restaurant Sparks Outrage with Controversial 'Skinny Discount'

I am going to take a wild guess … the people whose emotions are “stirred” are fat people. Is it possible then that being fat encourages healthy eating habits. What nonsense. -

Thailand's Global Education Ranking Sparks Controversy and Scrutiny
chilli42 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sure blame the survey. If you don’t like the results you see then deflect the blame back on to the survey methodology. Couldn’t possibly be the antiquated education methodologies, and years of under investment in education to blame.
