The name seems to be of Algerian origin wherein 85% are Arab. Being a French citizen doesn't mean the name is necessarily French. Until 1962 all Algerians were considered to be French citizens, albeit different Kegan status from fully French citizens. Name can be found to minor extent also in Poland and Morocco.

Hypocrite. NCPO Chief Prayut took no time in 2014 after his coup to rewrite the 2007 Constitution into the Interim Charter to grant swift amnesty to his coup co-conspirators that included Prawit.

Make that ... 'PM Prayut who is Chairman of the National Police Commission who oversees the RTP since 2014' ... But other than facing questions about his appointed leadership of the RTP from Ministers of Parliament, he is not accountable for knowingly or unknowingly of RTP corruption. Parliament has no investigative authority (ie., issue subpoenas, compel testimony) and the political watchdog law enforcement agency Department of Special Investigations (DSI) that can investigate is supervised by Prayut.

Cabinet approves tourist fee of 150-300 baht for all foreign tourists
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not mentioned as exempt from the occupancy hotel tax are foreigners returning to Thailand under re-entry permit? They are not tourists. In particular would one returning to Thailand who has a Long Term Resident visa with automatic re-entry have to pay? -

US States, counties and cities may individually charge a hotel occupancy tax. Texas state charges 6% that may be in addition to local county and city taxes (maybe how you got 17%). The hotel occupancy tax is directed towards short hotel stays. In Texas a guest who occupies a hotel room for 30 or more consecutive days with no payment interruption is considered a permanent resident and exempt from the hotel tax. -
PM Calls on Youths to Embrace Morality and Global Awareness

The Buddhist teachings is that moral behavior comes from mastering one's ego, desire and cultivating kindness and compassion. There is no moral absolutism. See blog.apaonline.org The single-minded pursuit of power fails Buddhism. -

Article states "in Asia". Not a bad ranking considering Thailand spends only 1.32% GDP (2021) for military spending ranked 89th compared to (www.theglobaleconomy.com) Indonesia 0.70% (125th) Australia 1.98% (48th) Malaysia 1.06% (107th) China 1.74% (60th) Philippines 1.04% (108th) USA 3.48% (15th) No. 1 at 7.34% is Oman. But somehow Thailand can't end the Southern Muslim insurgency.

In the 1700-1900's "superpowers" UK and France contested each other over control of Southeast Asian countries. While The Kingdom of Siam seemed unaffected to both countries foreign Asian dominance policies, it played the two powers against each other to remain sovereign. However, Siam seemed to favor UK diplomatically and militarily with trade and territory concessions in exchange for State advantages. from Wikipedia: Anglo- Siamese Treaty of 1909 (start) In 1826 UK and KS signed the Burney Treaty that AFFIRMED British consent that Muslim kingdoms (caliphates) on KS southern border, including Kingdom of Patani, were Thai provinces. In exchange UK got exclusive trade deals with KS. In parts of that region. In 1909 the UK and KS signed a treaty wherein the Kingdom of Patani remained under KS control. (end) In the pre-history to 1800's KP's sovereignty was recognized by the KS Court in exchange for tribute. But that eventually devolved into direct invasion by KS. It seems to me that IKEA builds things to be disassembled. If you want stronger bonds in addition metal fastners, use a wood glue such as for example Titebond, Gorilla wood Glue or Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue in addition to metal fastners.

"vetted by the government's legal advisory body" Did this body advise that Prayut's coup was unconstitutional or accept that Prayut was not PM 2014-2018? Essentially the PM vets himself. Funny how this bill which corrodes freedom of speech even further surfaces prior to the next election.

Avoid overstay. Go back home to native country before overstay, renew passport, apply for new visa at Thai Embassy or on entry into Thailand? -

Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Add Criminal Defamation that can be charged by the military and any government agency or official, public broadcasting mandatory self censorship, civilians tried in military courts, military monitoring of "Fake News" on all social media, repeated use of State of Emergency that by passes the Constitution. The list goes on that makes Russia look like a full democracy. -

Digital IDs Approved for Use in Boarding Domestic Flights
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"enter 13-digital ID number" means typically Thai citizen. Hopefully, using online app. will allow foreigners to use passport no. Personally, I'll not bother and use passport/Thai drivers license.
