  1. Even Legal Gambling is traditionally a real opportunity for money laundering all that cash. Government needs first solid oversight to monitor and apprehend siphoning of cash in casinos. Easiest to get assistance from nations nearby that offer casino gambling. If you go with "Thianess", you'll just add more corruption.
  2. When does a banana go to the doctor? When he is a little green and not peeling well!
  3. He found out that when the "rubber meets the road," there's a cliff. Successful administration is more than a hope.
  4. 'I'm boycotting Spain!' Britons say they 'will never go back' to holiday hotspot amid new rules affecting tourists" Not being part of the EU, you're foreigners. And seemingly misbehaved like foreign tourists in Phuket and Pattaya. People of the EU may look back now and thank Brittain for Brexit.
  5. Something perhaps lost in translation? Failure to install a government elected by a majority of voters and substitute with a military-backed government representing a minority of voters would seem a greater threat. Law enforcement driven by public opinions and not by the rule of law (especially when successfully enforced) would seem more a threat to societal order.
  6. Scummy YouTuber at it again. Just get a taxi to MBK to continue trip.
  7. Also consistent with the 1970's mutiny of a missile frigate and sub chaser led by Soviet Captain 3rd Rank and political commisar Valery Sablin whose vision of communism, however, was not the communism practiced by the Soviet Union. https://www.military.com/history/ March 16, 2023 by Blake Stilwell.
  8. Somehow smothering the Malay people with foreign tourists by the Thai government doesn't seem consistent with current peace talks wherein the insurgency is about respecting Malay way of life. Having as a minimum semi-autonomy (supported by PM Yingluck in 2013) the Malays should decide the extent and impact of such tourism on their society. As a minimum such "transformation" should be presented to the Malay people through a referendum.
  9. As I've said before, find a way for those foreign workers to have a path to work permits, ie., as undocumented immigrants, so that they aren't trafficked and not abused by their Thai employers. Spending resources to monitor, apprehend and prosecute illegal foreign workers is a waste of resources and does nothing to stop trafficking.
  10. $411M USD per kilometer But a good deal for China as it loaned the funds to Thailand at higher than Sovereign interest rate to build the rail line.
  11. 2024: https://livingcostcost.org "The cost of living in Bangkok is 42% less expensive than in Tokyo. Cities ranked 5960th and 3238th ($902 vs $1556) in the list of the most expensive cities in the world and ranked 1st and 3rd in Thailand and Japan, respectively." The average after-tax salary is enough to cover living expenses for 0.7 months in Bangkok compared to 1.9 months in Tokyo. Bangkok ranked 1st best city to live in Thailand vs Tokyo ranked 1st in Japan"
  12. Spend the day at the largest shopping mall you can find, see a movie, check for clothes bargains, restaurant choices, etc. If you have a car park inside mall, never exposed to outside "blessings."
  13. Hard to tell if the tables are on private restaurant property. But the seating area seems rather a large area and likely facing the beach versus facing a road. So the seating area may be on public beach property. If so, I could see the restaurant owner justifing use of public-owned buoys in a public area by the restaurant. That then begs the question, who authorized such business use for the buoys? Hopefully there will be a quick investigation.
  14. "It was pointed out that while the road drilling work was mostly done at night with these holes being covered when morning approached to open the way for traffic, the roads are now bumpy and there have been many accidents despite metal sheets covering them." "However they found that most other roads around the moat are still in the same condition, with holes and potholes in them and some left that way without any paving or the placing of barricades." Simple to place a 80cm x 80cm metal plate but didn't? At least negligence was admitted: "the Provincial Electricity Authority, the project owner, to visit them and give compensation as well as ensure the best possible care. They will be fully reimbursed for medical expenses and repair of the motorcycle." But start being consistent about public safety as a PRIORITY.
  15. "reducing unnecessary lighting and power consumption between 8.30pm and 9.30pm Saturday night" What's unnecessary? Were all entertainment, restaurant, movie theater and shopping mall venues shutdown for the hour? Or just largely government facilities? Some public guidance might have been provided prior to Earth Hour to take the exercise seriously.
  16. Which raises the question of why such a high ranking RTP required immediate PM intervention when preliminary investigations implicated BJ in alleged corruption. And why the PM personally assigned a "committee" to further investigate those allegations versus making a referral to the Department of Special Investigations to independently investgate the allegations.
  17. Hypocrisy not enough? Senators only because they were personally appointed by a military coup leadership and insured that a 2023 majority elected government would be substituted by a minority elected government because of their unique political power granted by a military coup written Constitution. Let's see a 100% elected Senate before senators start questioning any government official for alleged elitism.
  18. There is political pressure to ban pot except for medical purposes prescribed by doctors.
  19. My inside house lights have been off since 7am this morning. No ac but a floor fan running.
  20. Be innovative- Use the Royal Rainmaking Airforce to spread cinnamon over the city.
  21. Has Army ISOC pulled out of the South? It has been responsible under decades State of Emergency to safeguard along with its mercenaries all those things identified by the PM.
  22. Maybe that's the issue - they're not.
  23. Does a seeing-eye dog get a seat?
  24. "Thailand collaborates with Sweden and Denmark to fight corruption" I can imagine Sweden and Denmark telling Thailand 'just apply the rule of law equally to everyone' and Thailand responding 'what's the kickback?'
  25. Thailand has been intercepting hundreds of trafficked migrants every year. Send them to Finland if Finland agrees to expense.
