Mid-air drama: Man’s attempted suicide on Thailand to UK flight
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
EVA staff couldn't do CPR without Lines? It would seem especially critical for a long overseas flight as would injectable medications for a heart attack, albeit a medical professional would be required. -
Thailand to attend the third Summit for Democracy in Seoul
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
"Srettha’s speech will focus on the democratization in Thailand. He led an elected government comprised of various political parties after the May election last year. Since then, the country’s international profile has changed for the better as it is no longer associated with the military-led government." (my bold) Seriously, Srettha is going to push these two well-known falsehoods before the 2024 Summit for Democracy members that includes Finland, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Republic of (South) Korea and Poland? World rankings from Democracy Index 2023 Report Age of Conflict (index below 6.01 not considered democracies): Full Democracies - Finland 9.3, Ireland 9.19, Germany 8.80, Japan 8.40, S. Korea 8.09 Flawed Democracies - Poland 7.18, Thailand 6.35 In fact as a result of the so-called 2023 election of a new Thai government, Thailand's Index fell. It would seem that Thailand's invitation to this Summit was to bait the country's minority-led government into exposing it teetering towards authoritarianism. "Hook, line and sinker" comes to mind. -
Trump unable to get $464m bond in New York fraud case, his lawyers say
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Under oath Trump said that Mar-a-Largo was worth at least $1 billion and called the judge a "fraud" for not agreeing to that valuation vs a ruling that it was worth $18 million. Judge should call Trump back to the court to defend that Trump did not perjury himself as he now says he had no property values to get a bond. Trump has committed perjury and should be fined substantially. -

Thai Student Activists Demand Thaksin's Arrest: Present 6 Proposals
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thaksin was only able to get temporary "refuge" due in large part to a Royal Pardon. Do the students contest the Royal Pardon, potentially committing LM? Furthermore, if the Pardon then allowed Thaksin eligible for parole and release, do the students contest the laws that allows such a parole and release? Seems the students themselves are creating multiple levels of conflicting laws that actually results in bias contradicting Thaksin's Pardon and Parole. -
A constitution defines the rule of law including amendments to the constitution in accordance to legislative processes identified by the constitution and applies to ALL Thais. To deny MFP attempt to amend the constitution in accordance with the constitutional provisions and in the absence of any legislative action fir or against is in effect an overthrow of the constitution. There becomes no equality under the rule of law.

Navy stranded without submarine or frigate amid budget crunch

Especially when it comes to supporting a military coup. Hard to break up street protests with a sub or frigate. -
"Why do Phuket locals seem to really dislike Foreigners?" Maybe because your governor wasn't elected by Phuket Thais? So more interested in complying with the national objective to increase tourism in the nation despite the minority population of Thai citizens in Phuket who will be directly affected. Provincial Governors in Thailand are appointed by the central government and not elected. And who was the Thai government on October 1, 2023 when Sophon Suwannarat was "reassigned" from Governor of Chaiyaphum Province to Phuket - Military coup leader and PM Prayut. Don't blame the massive number of foreign tourists/- residents who the Thai government has invited into the nation.

Trump says some undocumented immigrants are ‘not people’
Srikcir replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Florida's borders to the west, south and east are called "beaches." Under Gov. DeSantis where's the walls and razor wire? Texas Governor sends immigrants to interior US states with no open international waters nor foreign land borders. Is he against "open borders" between US states such as between Texas and New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma? -

Hitler "characterized the effect of a Jewish presence as a “race-tuberculosis of the peoples,” and identified the initial goal of a German government to be discriminatory legislation against Jews. The “ultimate goal must definitely be the removal of the Jews altogether.” "Adolph Hitler Issues Comment on the "Jewish Question," Sept. 16, 1919 Hitler calls the Jew a “true blood sucker that attaches itself to the body of the unhappy people;” ... Hitler identifies Jews as a “parasite in the body of peoples”, stating that Jews are a people “under whose parasitism the whole of honest humanity is suffering.” "Hitler, Lenin-and the Desire to Destroy "Parasites," by Richard Koenigsberg. Mar. 6, 2015 https://www.libraryofsocialscience.com Replace "Jew" with "immigrant" and you hear Trump. -

The exorbitant price Thailand is paying for high household debt
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
To be fair to former PM Prayut, the increasing debt issue goes back to 2014 when he overthrew the elected Yingluck government and held office into 2023: March 5, 2023 "Political parties can no longer evade household debt crisis facing Thailand" https://www.thaipbsworld.com "Thailand’s household debt has seen a sharp increase over the past 10 years from 59.3 percent of GDP in 2010 to 86.9 percent in the third quarter of last year." (my bold) -
You might learn more reading "Buddhist Fury: Religion and Violence in Southern Thailand" by Michael Jerryson. "An image of a Buddhist monk holding a handgun or the idea of a militarized Buddhist monastery tends to stretch the imagination; yet these sights exist throughout Southern Thailand." The Southern Malay Muslim conflict reminds me of Christian suppression of indigenous North American Indians.

The exorbitant price Thailand is paying for high household debt
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Remember this from July 2022: "Big Read – Household debts solution team set to propose ways to resolving the elephant in the room" https://www.thaienquirer.com/42047/ In June 2022 General Prayut PM since 2014) appointed a committee (Committee on Debt Resolution of the People) headed by Supattanapong to look at ways to resolve this issue. This committee was tasked with looking for ways to find effective solution to the household debt situation "in all dimensions and every credit portfolio." (my bold) And here we are in 2024Q1 debt worsening further with no viable solutions yet. Criminal negligence comes to mind. -
It's been my understanding from some Thai friends that they get more Thai healthcare insurance coverage (up to 100%) if a one night private hospital stay is required. Even with my foreign healthcare insurance overnight stay is considered in-patient that covers 100% coverage vs out-patient coverage at 85%. Personally it's worth the extra 15% to get out of a hospital ASAP.
