Wherever, don't use dice. Also playing cards might put one at risk of police intervention. "Thai Police Bust Card Game Thanks To Law That Says You Can't Possess Over 120 Cards At A Time," Feb. 5, 2016 https://www.cardplayer.com

In my case direct deposit of government pension into a US Bank account to add to my account balance. At that point they lose their "date;" they become fungible with all previous deposits saved over many years. What is subsequently wired to Thailand has no age or date of income associated with it. Until my US account is exhausted (unlikely as I use US funds from the account to pay US credit cards and automatic payments) such that a direct deposit from the government and subsequent same-year transfer to Thailand will the transfer to Thailand have a year identifier. So even more Grey.

Blow to Biden as poll shows Trump in lead for 2024 presidential election
Srikcir replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
"Given the errors in 2016 and 2020, how much should we trust polls that attempt to measure opinions on issues?" "What 2020’s Election Poll Errors Tell Us About the Accuracy of Issue Polling," by Scott Keeter, Nick Hatley, Arnold Lau and Courtney Kennedy. March 2, 2021 https://www.pewresearch.org/methods/2021/03/02/what-2020s-election-poll-errors-tell-us-about-the-accuracy-of-issue-polling/ Boiled down: there can be a lot of variances that can significantly affect polling results. So long as voters have several options to get their vote counted, a free and fair election will result. Trump doesn't want any options. Now Biden has said recently that if Trump were to drop out of the election, Biden would too. That would be a Win-Win for everyone. -
DITP Tackles Healthcare Costs in Private Hospitals
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Collaboration comes with compliance to laws. When significant profit margins are involved, "asking" will fall to deaf ears. Pass the appropriate laws. Note that the Thai government already has authority for price controls over private enterprise related to food, consumer products, farm-related products, construction materials, paper, petroleum and medicines. Also included are services such as medical services and other services of a healthcare. There is currently the Central Committee on the Prices of Goods and Services chaired by the Minister of Commerce that should be with minimal time able to review adequacy of current laws and introduce to the Cabinet any amendments or new laws to cover healthcare costs in private hospitals. -

Not just low pensions but high pensions as well. Say your pensions is 2.1 million THB equivalent per year and with tax exclusions and reductions, your foreign country's income tax rate of 20%. Under the tax treaty you can deduct foreign taxes against your country's tax liability as a credit. But your tax rate in Thailand is 30%. So you have a net tax increase ... in Thailand.

Thailand and China to Expedite Free Visa Talks
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Why didn't the Thai government not consider a quid pro quo to connect the two visa schemes? Instead Thailand seems so anxious for Chinese tourism into Thailand that it left itself without any political strength or diplomacy to get equal treatment for Thai tourists? It's like jumping into the ocean to cool off forgetting that you don't swim. -
Chinese Tourist Exposes Nana Area as Potential Danger for Women
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
In the link: "while standing in Soi Nana at around 11.30pm at night, she was approached by a foreign man. A moment ago, that man said to me: ‘How are you today?’ But I could say had he pulled me away, I would not have been able to escape." Sounds like a projected fantasy. Nothing effarious happened that would even question safety of women of any ethnicity in the Nana area. Maybe it's just Chinese culture for a young, unattached Chinese woman roaming in a wildly nightime adult entertainment area (certainly not surprising to any blogger) doesn't expect to be approached by a foreigner? Like in China that keeps close observation of foreigners. Or she is trying to appease/attract Chinese authorities recognition (financial backing?) with a fake report intended to threaten lower Chinese tourism to put diplomatic pressure on Thailand through threat of lower Chinese tourism for political purposes? Whatever the case, she appears to have violated the Computer Act that only requires potential harm to Thailand's reputation, ie., delivered through social media. -
178/187 day split to avoid tax resident status.
Srikcir replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If you qualify, get the 10-year Long Term Resident visa for 50,000 baht. No 90-day reports (only 5 year report); how will Immigration track your 180 days in Thailand? No minimum Thai bank balances required, no minimum foreign fund transfers to Thailand required. Under several categories of the visa your foreign income is tax-free, ie., Wealthy Pensioner. Comes with Fast Track airport exit and entry, free re-entries. -

Thai students rank below average in global education survey
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Looking at 32,018 Higher Education Institutions from all over the world and ranked by countries (July 2023 edition): https://www.webometrics.info/en/distribution_by_country COUNTRY TOP 100 101-500 501-1000 1001-5000 5001-10000 TOTAL Thailand 0 2 5 31 63 192 The English-speaking world comprises the 88 countries and territories where English is either an official, administrative, or cultural language. Thailand compared to several English-speaking countries: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English-speaking_world#Countries_where_English_is_an_official_language USA 53 97 89 536 1569 3180 United Kingdom 8 36 33 63 51 337 Australia 6 17 12 7 19 187 Singapore 2 0 2 5 14 45 South Africa 0 4 4 15 4 124 Overall I rank Thailand at about mid-point, but only because there are so many poorer English speaking countries than Thailand. So still not desirable, especially in terms of international relations. Surprising to me is that The Philippines would rank far below Thailand, but both have about the same annual GDP (2022). https://countryeconomy.com/countries/compare/thailand/philippines -

And/or is it that Thai people have no control over a progressive government they want? Prayut's military coup, followed by 10 years as PM, then PTP abandons the elected majority MFP to essentially follow in Prayut's foot steps. -

Do a political give and take. For quick Thai hostage release, offer Hamas/PLO an embassy in Thailand. Gives them international creditability, like with North Korea. -
Why are fewer Chinese tourists visiting Thailand?

Why fewer? It's simple math. "fewer" means "less" that is defined mathematically as a lower number. -

Why are fewer Chinese tourists visiting Thailand?
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Refocus on national with the highest GDP. No 1 USA. Other successful nations are in Europe, India, Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia. What is TAT doing to increase tourist traffic from the nations that don't have the same tourist profile of Chinese? Thailand needs to flaunt its sovereignty to attract nonChinese tourists whose profiles do not match the Chinese herd mentality constrained by communist mentality. -
Govt to Empower Governors with CEO-like Authority
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If not accountable to the electorate (voters), it's not a democracy and more what a Board of Directors are to customers. Corporations are not democratic institutions. What the government has done by analogy is a General (PM) has inserted colonels between him and rank and file soldiers. Soldiers don't get a vote directly or indirectly. But you are somewhat right in that this action is a fairy. -

Young doctor, known online for his fight against cancer, dies
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I talked to a couple of oncolongists about probable cause of death related to this young doctor. It's likely the lung cancer (cause unknown but definitely not from Thailand air pollution) spread by blood to the brain. Significant surgery and/or radiation in the brain is not advised. -

"despite exercising regularly, to raise public awareness of the disease." What does exercising have to do with treating cancer as this statement seems to imply? Types of Treatment Surgery. An operation where doctors cut out cancer tissue. Chemotherapy. Using special medicines to shrink or kill the cancer. ... Radiation therapy. Using high-energy rays (similar to X-rays) to kill the cancer. Targeted therapy. Using drugs to block the growth and spread of cancer cells. https://www.cdc.gov › basic_info Must be more the this story than air pollution.
