  1. First lot in 2024. Meanwhile Chinese manufactured EV's (including Tesla) have been delivered for several years now, including BYD EV buses. Nearly 19 of every 100 passenger cars sold in China in just October 2021. EV sales in Europe surpass diesel. One million battery EVs sold in 2021. Norway EVs had a 86% market share in 2021. South Korea EV sales in 2021 is the 7th-largest worldwide. So Thailand gets a Chinese EV partner (probably with a lot of capital) and suddenly projects to be the EV Hub of Southeast Asia in 2024.
  2. Whatever happened to the government's plans to have farming communities sustain the building and operation biomass electric power plants from their crop waste that might otherwise be burnt in the fields?
  3. Described as a ... "tramp." Disgusting, demeaning and sexist. This description does not merit being reported.
  4. The only way Democrats have been in power was through preceding military coups and banishment of opposition political parties. With its voting base reduced now to insignificant, not much Tawil can do. Better to leave on his own accord than be diminished. He didn't even give notice and appears the Dems didn't initially notice his absence.
  5. ISOC has oversight of politicians down to the grassroots level, ie., villages. State of Emergency continues in the Southern Provinces since imposed in 2014. Former NCPO Chief and current PM Prayut remains as Head of Government, Minister of Defense, Supervisor of DSI and RTP. Prayut remains as chairman of various agency board of directors. And as you noted, the Senate was hand picked by a selection committee whose members were selected by Prayut and includes both active and retired military officers, including former consultants to the NCPO selected by Gen. Prayut.
  6. I 've been using the monthly foreign bank transfers method because of the lack of embassy monthly income letter (which makes no reference to monthly foreign transfers). My IO's every time scrutinize my annual bank summary letter of monthly foreign transfers and each credit advice receipt issued for foreign bank transfers. In my last nonO-A extension appointment in August 2021 the IO checked off each CAR amount to the bank letter monthly amount, required me to hold up my bank letter and first page of bank book next to my face while she took my picture. She gave no explanation for this odd event. I didn't ask, I was getting my extension approved. Be prepared for the full Monty.
  7. There is no mention in the article that she had no pulse while unconscious. You start with a conclusion to create a cause.
  8. Future Forward Party: "People will lose confidence inthe system in the long term." Isn't nine decades (1932-2021) with 13 successul military coups long enough to NOT have any confidence? Relying on undemocratic governments to dissolve the Parliament to trigger a national election through mere political discourse is a fantasy. PM Prayut is on record that he won't consider a national election. As such he needs some political "pain" to think otherwise. Not getting his legislation passed is not a good public optic.
  9. I had 2 jabs Pfizer followed by prepaid full intramuscular dose Moderna after 5 months. No side effects from any jabs. No injection site pain. My experience. Every body is different with regard to immune systems.
  10. You can download free Messenger as a separate app without Facebook. But your friend must also have Messenger.
  11. In addition to a customs fee, a VAT may apply. Unless predetermined by a trade agreement between Thailand and Laos, value of imported items are at customs discretion and not necessarily on purchase price as basis for applying customs fee.
  12. Caution. If the document to be notarized is a US will, rules depend on the county where it would be probated. A Thai notary will not be acceptable. My experience is that if done by Zoom (not acceptable in all counties as well as e-file), witnesses and testor must be in the same video frame and witnesses must provide proof of US identity with a US Government ID card (ie., driver's license, passport, green card, etc.). That said, if notarized through a US embassy with required witnesses present, check with the relevant US county that a US embassy notarization is acceptable. As typically the notary must be registered in the applicable US county, I doubt an embassy notarization will be acceptable.
  13. I suspect that it's opposition MP's deliberate absence that causes Parliament to fail a quorum, thus no legislation. Whereas if opposition MP's attended, the majority pro-Prayut MP's might pass legislation without amendments by the opposition MPs. The opposition has essentially neutralized Prayut's political agenda through his parluament majority. PM has no direct control over Parliament rules. If PM wants a general election he needs a more fair and balanced legislation presented in parliament. But what he is showing is that he's concerned of losing an election.....not getting his legislation is fog of politics.
  14. The dependent was also to pay his 26 victims a (cumulative?) total of 200,000 euros in lost earnings and other compensation. Give Finland's judicial system and anti-traff8cking advocates credit to get a Supreme review that reversed the lower and appeals courts for justice. Note there appears to be no mention of Thailand embassy involement in the initial complaint nor judicial challenges. Does Thailand have a weakness for human trafficking? Albeit, Finnish health authorities and Thailand's embassy there did cooperate to determine how in 2021 more than 400 Thai pickers have Covid 19. It appears none were infected until after being cleared after camp testing on arrival. https://www.euronews.com/2021/09/16
  15. "should care more about the country than coming into power" Seems PM Prayut disagrees as he refuses to dissolve Parliament and trigger a general election. A free and fair democratic General Election might better boost the country's reputation internationally as accepted as a true democratic nation than with a former 2014 junta chief with absolute power for four years who then "stacked" the last election in his favor with a junta appointed Senate and self-serving election laws.
  16. About a 46% voter turnout of which PPRP got about 10%! But Constituency 9 only covers Lak Si and part of Chatuchak districts. So not a conclusive voting trend for Bangkok province overall. Furthermore, PTP received only received about 38% of total votes vs MFP with 26% and KP with 26%. So PTP itself didn't get a landslide election result but the combined votes of what might be considered combined opposition to PPRP would seem to be a landslide. The election for Bangkok governor in mid-year 2022 should be more telling as to the depth of political opposition to PPRP on a national scale.
  17. Kingsgate Letter: https://www.thaienquirer.com/36977/recapping-thailands-gold-mine-fight/ PM Prayut should be personally charged with the THB 600m when he acted unilaterally personally as NCPO Chief and not as an elected PM to shutdown the operations.
  18. While the article cites ongoing "out of court negotiations," no court is actually involved as per the FTA. Any final decision is made by the tribunal arbitration panel in accordance to ratification by Australia and Thailand governments. For the selection of 3 panel members, Australia and Thailand chose one member. The 3rd member is chosen by those 2 members.
  19. Been going to Bumrungrad International Hospital since 2014 for annual health checkups for over 65. Cost is about 25,500 baht but my foreign health insurance company pays direct to the hospital about 87% of cost. So out of pocket is about 3,200 baht. Note that BIH runs promotions such as 2 for 1 price and birthday discounts. Prior to my checkup my health insurance company sends to the hospital a Guarantee of Benefits by email. That allows me to take the exam without preparing it.
  20. Covid 19 travel conditions may apply. Call Covid Helpline 1422. Google taxi/private car rates such as www.rome2rio.com that cites about 3 hrs drive (about 200km) costing 1,400-1,800 baht. Cost depends what kind of vehicle you want to ride. A private van can cost 3,000 baht or more such as https://12goasia/en/travel/bangkok/hua-hin
  21. During NCPO Prayut's regime 2014-2017 he has used Article 44 to override anti-corruption laws in government contracts such with infrastructure projects. Though now as an "elected" PM* he doesn't have that power, his appetite has been "wetted" as he continues to control the government, parliament and state-owned enterprises in a fashion similar to NCPO PM Prayut. So in terms of "Asia," I'd say Thailand can be perceived as the Land of Sophistication concerning corruption similar to China. The other countries in Asia mentioned as corrupt are just blatant in their corruption, no nuance required. * due solely to an NCPO appointed Senate.
  22. I have to pay slightly more than 10,000 baht per year to renew my mandatory Thai health insurance that I don't need ( nor possibly qualify for any claims) for other than a condition for my annual non O-A extenstion that costs 1,900 baht. But I have unlimited foreign health insurance without pre-existing condition limits that is accepted by several private hospitals requiring little or no out of pocket costs. Compare that with the 300 baht fee for alleged Thai medical insurance coverage fee on tourists visiting Thailand. If the government were to accept established private hospital accounts allowing foreign health insurance as a substitute for the mandatory Thai health insurance with the 10,000 baht per year visa fee, a 10,000 baht annual visa fee is worthwhile.
