  1. 1. It is available if you have a tax number, a work permit and your employer correctly deducts and submits the payment. That's nearly all employers in Thailand, however there a very limited exceptions such as Embassies and agencies of the UN.

    2. 90 days I believe, but I'm not absolutely sure of this.

    3. I'm not certain. Perhaps @Sheryl could answer this.

    4. It is not the same. There are three types of public healthcare available: a. The 30 baht scheme, which is available to Thai citizens who have no other cover. b. The Social Fund scheme for workers. c. The Civil Service scheme for government employees.

In practice I don't know if you get more coverage with the workers scheme as opposed to the 30 baht scheme. @Sheryl?

  2. Answer:

    a) You will contribute 5 per cent of your salary, up to a maximum of 750 baht per month.

    b) Benefits outlined above, chiefly free or almost free healthcare at your appointed hospital, or any hospital they refer you too.

There is no difference in the entitlement between a Thai and a Non Thai.

  3. If you have the company registration numbers anyone can go to the Department of Business Development (DBD) and order a copy of the current shareholder list for a small charge. Alternatively you can order and pay online for a PDF copy of the shareholder list at:

    https://datawarehouse.dbd.go.th/

The second part of your question involves removing a shareholder. I think you need to understand the difference between a shareholder and a director.

A shareholder is a part owner of a company. If you own 25 per cent of the shares of a company then you own 25 per cent of the company. This ownership can be sold, gifted or inherited as it is an asset.

As such nobody should be able to remove your name from the list of shareholders without your knowledge and consent because that would amount to defrauding you out of the ownership of an asset.

A director is an employee of a company who has been authorised to act on behalf of the company.

Now understand that when you own shares in your own name this has very little to do with the company. As such the company or a director has no authority to remove the shares from you. After all, why on earth would they be allowed to do that?

The DBD often require shareholders to be present at their office to transfer shares. This is to stop illegal transfers. However this is not always the case.

The final thing is that if shares are given as a convenience, if you understand what I mean, the person giving the shares often has the recipient of the shares sign all documents necessary to transfer the shares in the future. If that is the case you could have signed the future sales documents at the same time you signed to receive the shares.

...the absurd option: install a second window inside...

Think about this option some more. Double glazing works as a sound insulator partly because of the air trapped between the panes of glass.

If you have enough space on your window reveal you could fit single pane secondary and even tertiary glazing while retaining the original window. Otherwise you could fit slim profile secondary double glazed units.

It would be a lot easier and probably a lot cheaper.

  5. Consider this approach: List the property online yourself. If it doesn't sell after a month, relist it with the price reduced by 10 per cent. If it doesn't sell after another month, relist it with the price reduced by another 10 per cent. Repeat until you start to get offers.

You don't have to sell, but it will show you what buyers are prepared to pay. That price, some would say, is the true value of the property.

As this thread is 10 years old I have to assume the OP managed to find his way to the MFA. On that basis, and the fact that nobody has reported a forlorn and emaciated foreigner wandering around the Lak Si area clutching a packet of documents, this thread is closed.
