  1. A bit of a wait for this one "Fall River" but it looks quite interesting. I see that there was a show about this case back in 2018.

    "Rolling Stone" review:

Epix has released a new trailer for its upcoming true-crime docuseries, Fall River, which reinvestigates a string of murders that took place in the titular Massachusetts town in the late-Seventies. The show will premiere on May 16th at 10 p.m. ET.

In 1979, three young women were killed in a streak of murders that captivated and terrified the town of Fall River — the same town that the infamous accused axe murderer Lizzie Borden called home 90 years prior. Despite little forensic evidence, the police alleged the killings were carried out by a satanic cult practicing human sacrifice, and the cops arrested the alleged cult leader, Carl Drew. He was ultimately sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Twenty years later, however, the lead investigator, Paul Carey, found he was still grappling with the inconsistencies that marred the case, and he reopened the investigation himself, despite being retired. Fall River will delve into the new witnesses and evidence that emerged, while it will also feature intimate conversations with Drew. As the trailer teases, it will also examine how the town of Fall River was gripped by the kind of “satanic panic” that would spread across the United States in the coming decade.

  2. "The Mosquito Coast,” the widely anticipated drama series adapted from the best-selling novel and starring Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman, will premiere globally with the first two episodes on Friday, April 30, followed by new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+.

From award-winning novelist Neil Cross, and based on the best-selling book by Paul Theroux which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, “The Mosquito Coast” is a gripping adventure and layered character drama following the dangerous journey of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor, Allie Fox (played by Justin Theroux), who uproots his family for Mexico when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.

Justin Theroux starring in this adaptation of the book penned by his uncle Paul some forty years ago.

Indeed you can select who asks the questions, and in some instances there can be a "plant" who will ask the right questions and so on, but it's obvious that many of the trumpies on here don't have a clue about press conferences and so on, so I will impart some information to them/for them..........

I was in a position where I had to front the media when working in senior positions for two multinational companies, and to ensure that the right message came across, I had to undertake what was called "Media Training", and it was much more brutal than I thought, being in front of questioner (sometimes two), spotlights and camera for a day and more, and going over the same territory time and time again until I got it right.

I remember one thing in particular that this media specialist/trainer told me, and it was, "no matter what the question asked, make sure you get YOUR message across, even if it has nothing to do with the question you have been asked, that is your prime objective".

Much training went on with regards to all sorts of tricky questions and I soon got the hang of it.

So.........Pres Biden and his team need to focus on the positive actions they taken, rather than letting the subject/question itself dominate the press conference, esp if the question is slanted against them.

Interesting. I've not been through that kind of training myself but am aware of it. I remember a young David Beckham (and others) mumbling um, um, um all the way through his interviews, it's thanks to the type of training that you described that most present day footballers come across more eloquently.

Yeah that's what I always say. Seen one or two American comedies, you've seen them all. Kind of like Redwoods as the Gipper said. They're all the same, you know.

Have you tried Curb Your Enthusiasm?

I have but not for me. My favourite US comedy has to be Married...With Children. I also like, in no particular order - Weeds, Lodge 49, My Name is Earl, Happy Days, Santa Clarita Diet.........

  6. Just downloaded and watched the first episode of Surviving Escobar: Alias JJ. I liked it enough to start foraging about for the other sixty-eight.

"With Pablo Escobar's Medellin in decline, one of the most significant figures in the cartel -- Alias JJ -- has decided to turn himself in to authorities. While he's in prison, he must face his enemies and use all of the underhanded tactics he has learned to survive and regain his status as No. 1 inmate in the prison. While locked up, he also seeks to continue his reign of terror as a feared drug trafficker. The drama series is based on a book by John Jairo Velasquez, a former hit man for Escobar's Medellin."

I couldn't find a decent subbed trailer but the episode I downloaded had good English subs as the show has been on Netflix.

Yeah, I think comedy shows are a personal choice.

I think times have changed back home too, like times of  fools and horses and citizen smith are well gone. I can’t remember the last decent comedy sit-com I downloaded.

Friday Night Dinner (Season 6 was just last year)? After Life? But, as you say it's a matter of choice.
