COULD YOU post some of your design resources please?

Here's a link to the original design.

    https://www.smilehomes.com/home_planT-206.htm

As I previously said, I visited some houses that my prospective builder was working on, this was several months before we started to build ourselves. One of those homes had a single-storey Thai style kitchen separated from the main house by a strip of land which was about a metre wide. I liked the space it gave so I had the ground floor extended at the rear of the house by five metres. This part of the house was split into a 9m x 5m western style kitchen, a bathroom, fitness room and study, which opened up the area that in the original design comprised the kitchen, bathroom and living room.

    Other changes were:

Extending the balcony at the front of the house to connect with bedroom 2 and switching the access to it from the main bedroom to the landing at the top of the stairs.

Doing away with the en-suite from bedroom 2, freeing up space for Mrs BM's prayer room.

Moving the door on the bathroom adjacent to bedroom 3 to the landing, so this bathroom serves beds 2 and 3.

Addition of a covered terrace to the right of the artist's impression picture (the added bit at the back extended to the end of the terrace.

During construction Mrs BM decided she wanted to extend the roof over the Thai kitchen area, which in hindsight was a great idea, in fact we will be extending it further to cover the whole length of the back of the house.

I met the architect and he quoted 100,000 Baht to incorporate the changes into 'proper' plans, Mrs BM knocked him down to 90,000. We told the builder that he must stick to the plans unless any deviations were discussed and agreed in advance, We also got an off the shelf contract completed with agreed staged payments. The builder had never used contracts before but tells us that he has since insisted on them for every build.

Later we decided that the fitness room was not quite big enough so we had the same builder stick a new one on the end of the garage, the original fitness room has become a sewing / ironing / linen storage room.

I'll just go and take some pics and post from the phone now.

Just goes to show how different Amphur look for different things.

Doi Saket needed passport and copy, marriage and copy, wife blue book and copy.

Had to show up on the same day - but not necessarily the same time - Phu Yai Baan, one witness other than a family member.

Done. Picked up next day. Pink ID card then and there.

This was 5+ years ago and has been of use ever since.

Those who say they can see no use for it have never had one and seen it in action.

Quite similar to my experience in Suphanburi except that it took them a little while to go over all of their procedures a hundred times because mine was apparently the first application that they'd processed.

  3. So I've just finished watching Will's favourite Canadian cop show, 19-2. Wow, some brutal scenes and a bit like The Shield and BrBa in that once you cross a certain line you can be drawn into ever more extreme unforeseen consequential situations. Some very nice eye candy too.

Now I've stumbled upon another one, Cracked. Two seasons, both on Rar, both large files (average about 1.3GB) and both pretty slow to download. I kicked them off yesterday morning and whilst S2 has just completed, S1 is only 35% d/l so far.....patience, I'm in no hurry. I watched the first episode and rate it.

    Cracked 2013-14, 7.0 on IMDb

"Inspired by real experiences of police officers and mental-health professionals, CBC's "Cracked" mixes police and medical drama. Each episode features the psychological side of policing as well as the emotional impact of front-line workers. Detective Aidan Black, who has post-traumatic stress disorder, is joined by Dr. Daniella Ridley to lead the new Psych Crimes Unit. Combining police skills with psychiatric insight, the team attempts to solve crimes and resolve crises. Black and Ridley are tasked with protecting the public from harm while protecting the dignity of its citizens."

The same people getting them their fake ID's are now kicking them out because they are doing business better then them . First they bended over backwords to get them in to invest money in the country , now they grew bigger then they expected they have to call a halt to it. Who else thinks there are much more chinese given fake ID's to buy whole condo buildings and property just to allow them to bring their money here . Now this has come out i hope the news hasn't reached china yet because they will be more carefull in the future where to invest . Everything is thai first here and that will kick them in the face at the end .

I doubt it's the same people, I don't think the DSI hand out ID's. As for "doing better business" the track record of the Chinese guy in question would render that an unlikely scenario.

  5. It should be cheaper to buy your own, but of course it's not just about the money.

We designed and our own home built and I have to say it was one of the most satisfying and pleasurable experiences of my life. Ploughing through hundreds of plans online and not finding any that ticked all of our boxes was just the start. We found one that had nearly everything we thought we wanted but even then when our then prospective builder showed us a couple of places that were coming to completion we got more ideas. We made lots of changes to the original plans and got the architect to produce sets of plans accordingly.

We discovered that Mrs BM made an incredible project manager and negotiator for all of the materials. We've been in our new hope nearly six years now and really love it.

    Liked this a lot:

An 8 part drama split between Japan and London basically telling the story of a Yakuza hitman who fled to London after faking his death and his cop brother who is sent, unofficially, to bring him back.

Kelly McDonald is witty as the detective caught up in the mayhem and good to see Tony Way ( the slob photographer in Gervais’s After Life ) as a bumbling London cop.

The Japanese side are the usual serious business like types while the London crew  comes across as a bunch of misfits all with skeletons in the closet, the wideboy cockney gangster boss did seem a little stereotypical and out of place.

The anti-woke brigade might claim that the inclusion of a teenage Japanese lesbian, a black female gangster, and a suicidal drug addicted Soho rent boy were unnecessary but I felt they all played their part in the story and were typical of the world we live in .

All in all I found it very entertaining with several twists to keep you interested.

I watched it on fmovies but probably available elsewhere.

    Thanks.

That looks really good, I've not come across fmovies before but this is on TPB anyway.

You might liker this slightly older Canadian detective show. Low res on YT - PB has complete seasons.

Thanks. Couldn't find a lot on TPB but found all seasons on Rar. As somebody recently observed many of their uploads are enormous and this show was one of those. Total file size for the six seasons is just short of 200GB averaging 2.6GB per episode! I watched the first episode before downloading the rest, which is due to complete in a few hours. I've started converting to 480 HEVC which will bring it down to a more manageable 23GB.

Did the original suggestion a couple of weeks ago say that the 120kph would be OK unless there were U turns on that particular road. And I asked 'Where is that road?'

So does that rule still apply. The OP does say '120kph UNLESS HINDERED'....by what, the prospect of a stationary truck wanting to make a U turn?

The U-turns on that stretch of road are either underpasses or bridges.

What would it be in Thailand maybe 100,000 b?

The cop was out of line but on the big picture, this type of settlement just makes cops and cities more paranoid about any type of physical force being used.  We will see, but the reverse could happen with cops being injured or killed more often due to the current tone/fear regarding cops interaction/actions with others.

What happened that day IS the big picture.

But, but what about diversity, it's all the immigrants fault.

I am not saying that immigration and integration doesn't present problems, you only have to see the pages and pages of moaning from expat's here to see how difficult it is to settle in a country whose language and culture differ so much from what you are used to.

It's really disappointing that an article about a young woman murdered by a police officer can somehow be attributed to immigration policies.

They've only just started, wait until they drag the EU and BLM into the mix!
