He can apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension up to the 29th of this month. There is not limit on how many can be issued.
Thanks. Assume that's from any immigration office?

I have a friend here on a tourist visa that has been extended to the end of January. The immigration office is in Chonburi (one of the "red" zones) but the friend is in a different province and may have difficulty returning due to travel bans. Cannot return to home country as no flights and borders closed. Do any forum members know if there has been any kind of announcement regarding further extension of visas? Can the friend go to another office for extension?

You think you have a right to spread the virus to others?
All those in attendance understand and share any risk (minimal in open air on beach). Some will stay home frightened for ever if they subscribe to the scaremongering.

Gosh, you are just so right with your hypothesis, why only last night I had 4 large beers followed by a G n T, next thing, there I was running around the village waving my boxers above my head embracing all the young fillies, silly me, next time I'll go to the beach & remain sober and adult like.
Don't be daft mate, take a day off.
Only "embracing all the young fillies"? Doing nothing else? What did they say about that?

Probably fee passengers so easy decision for the airlines. Good excuse to cancel. When will this ever end....

There used to be such a scheme, it was voluntary , and then, I believe, the Embassy abandoned it.
Yes. They stopped it about 7 or 8 years ago IIRC

Isuzu is a diesel motor and will go through deeper water than a petrol motor because a diesel does not have the electrics (distributor, coil, spark plugs and high tension leads) that a petrol motor has
Thanks. Yes I'm aware of that. I don't think I've ever seen a pickup truck here in Thailand (last 20 years at least) that isn't diesel. My 2005 Hilux Vigo 4wd auto was 3 litre turbo diesel. Built like a tank and a great truck. BIL's Isuzu truck was good too and he used it in his construction business. As far as I know, the OP's Mitsubishi Triton is a diesel truck.

I think they should stop alcohol sales from the 7-11s and shops in the vicinity of the beach.
7-11s and shops nearby to schools and at gas stations are prohibited from selling alcohol so this seems like a reasonable thing to do.

I have a couple of laptops. Both have 5Ghz WiFi. The top spec Dell XPS13 with i7 processor flies along at 600mbs+ even with screen/lid closed (I use it like a desktop connected to monitor and keyboard/mouse) and away from router. The other is a Lenovo with i3 processor with lid open (WiFi antennas built into screen surrounds) and closer to the router only gets about 200mbs. Still plenty fast and I put it down to system power.

these days the waterproofing of the ECU and other associated electronics is so good you could probably drive them underwater (with snorkel) without any problem.
I've never had a problem pressure washing a modern engine.!I once saw an Isuzu pickup truck driving through floodwater with the headlights completly immersed. It was surprising that it still ran - and yes, they did get through to dry ground.

You are the exact reason why they do not want it. Sitting around in a group drinking.
Were all the people in your "group" tested for Covid recently?
An expected comment. But if no alcohol on the beach then it's perfectly legal to congregate. How about you journey around Pattaya at night. You'll see much larger numbers of Thais sitting closer together eating, drinking and barbecuing in front of their houses and shops every day.

Went to Pattaya beach on New Year's day about 9:30pm. Nearest other persons were one group about 25 metres away. Other than that the beach was deserted. We enjoyed a couple of beers with our food. Where's the risk in that? We could still eat and drink together in closer proximity at home or on the Soi but now (6th Jan) not allowed to do so when distanced on the beach. How absurd it that!

I think what he means dollar weakness in the public perception, not in those charts with fake numbers pumped out by the FED and their friends.
The dollar is being printed into oblivion, as is the Euro, Yen and the Pound. That is what causes all other assets such as gold, real estate, stocks etc to become inflated - in reality they are not inflating, it's the dollar that is losing value.
Barnabe, it was many posts until someone to post as you have. You are correct. As the US FED and UK BOE and other banks print ever more money, it devalues that money already in existence. The flight to Gold (and speculatively Bitcoin) is seen a safety net against reducing currency values and government bank asset seizures. Beware of in the future, government issued digital currencies as that will mean easier manipulation and total control of our finances and lives. It used to be said that "cash is king" but in these days Gold (or Silver) is where safety is. Bitcoin is like a casino at present and a very risky play (good if you've been in for while though).

I just used the IRS tool "Get my Payment" https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment and learned my check will be mailed on the 6th of this month. I got the first one through the snap of my postman and condo front desk staff since the IRS address system deemed my condo room number and full street address not needed due to too damn many letters and numbers for them to handle.
Please post here if you get yours so I can ask the postman and staff to keep a lookout around the right time.
Thanks.
For one of the most supposedly technologically advanced nations in the world, why doesn't the USA IRS simply do an electronic payment? Was that not an option? So much chance of incoming mail getting lost/diverted here in Thailand.
In the UK, cheques as we call them, are virtually non-existent these days and nothing but a hassle. I've been getting my self employment grants paid direct by HMRC to my UK account. Then it's simply a quick transfer by TransferWise to here in Thailand.

Nothing like spreading a false rumour to garner loads of free publicity............................
40 minutes ago, jacko45k said:To what aim? Saying they are closed when they are banned from opening seems to yield little benefit.
Also, one would think, if an airline started telling it's customers that they are considering charging to use airplane toilets (Ryanair some years ago) it might yield little benefit. They still propspered even though never charging for toilet use. Headline news gave them free publicity.
What is happening here is that there is now a discussion about nostalgia of past, possibly, good times at the TQ. Should TQ actually be able to remain and reopen after the current shutdown, there's now a better chance of customers going back to visit again. Name recognition.

As an example of why online ads are so unreliable, I contacted the above advertiser on Sunday morning to ask for a viewing (looks good and I would be prepared to rent if OK). I still never got a reply by either phone or email. Now I notice that the price was changed (on 5th Jan). On the advert there are now 3 different prices. I suggest that anyone wanting to rent out their property they respond to inquiries. I actually drove around the property to check location etc. My original recommendation stands - go to the property and talk to the manager's office.

Even if the response is not hopeful for the obvious wishes of the enquirer.
So,- thank u anyway Ubonjoe for ur kind interest in this question.
Still, for basis of getting Extension of Stay following Entry with Non-Immigrant Visa "Type O" given for Reason of Visiting a Thai child,- this is an option in that written communication ;
And,- it stands to reason per this Visa, & the Permission of Stay, & Extension of Permission to Stay, respectively given thereof, that the income cannot be sourced from "within" Thailand ;
Although,- one can earn income in Thailand from an occupation upon having 12 Month Extension of Stay to Entry based on this particular Visa & Permission of Stay combination.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
In regard to that opinion speculated as perhaps guiding the offices that state they accept average income of THB 40k,
viz.
"_ _ _ they may be of the opinion that it only applies if you are legally working here and using your income from it to do the application." ;
in my own case, during immediately previous visit, a very senior officer confirmed that upon I providing proof of average income per month arriving from overseas for preceding 12 months,- they will gladly accept that condition as being fulfilled ;
Yet, upon returning to the office with the proof,- certain lower rank staff rejected the proof ;
Actually based on their use of their calculator ;
They claim that my average income per month is below that THB 40k minimum.
Still,- I am concerned that the office may refuse further efforts to obtain their agreement that the prospective application fulfills this particular income requirement condition option in that they may simply ignore their own written policy that evidence of e.g. pension yearly [ 12 month ( "preceding" is understood as the most stringent per that qualification ) ] averaging THB 40k per month.
Were they to do that,- would that be permissible within the department's rules, & the law[s], & the spirit of the law[s] too, & the duties of "fairness" & "care" inter alia ?

Our Man in the Tropics
It appears that Ubonjoe addressed your rather lenthy question as accurately as possible.
I do know there's a rule about Grammar Police here on TVF but what about Plain English Police? I think the OP must either be a lawyer or writer of terms and conditions. "respectively given thereof," & "further efforts to obtain their agreement that the prospective application fulfills this particular income requirement condition option" are a couple of examples. Could you please try to get to your point in an easier to understand way so that help or advice may be given?

Could be a shrewd publicity move by the TQ owners. Many people may never have head of TQ. If they make a comeback then maybe more people will want to visit. Who knows what will happen.
I visited on a Saturday afternoon in August 2020 after a friend told me about the place. A certain charm about it and friendly ladies. Seemed like a lot of American patrons there having a good time. Music from 70's and 80's more rock style. Glad I visited, but for me once was enough.

I can't give you any advice on books however I would like to offer you encouragement to persevere. At a guess you are probably in the 1% (or less) of expats in Thailand who can read any Thai. Some of us can get by speaking but reading would be a real benefit. I wish I had the determination to learn to read or write Thai. Keep going as best you can it will be worth it.

I have to travel to hospital in Bangkok on Thursday 7th Jan. for an urgeny ct scan i have been tested neg. for virus.
Will i have a problem?I am travelling by private car.
Thank you in advance.
Unlikely you will encounter any issues. Best to carry a copy of the appointment confirmation letter to present to any officials in case you get stopped. And carry neg Covid test result too as a back-up. We all know how Thai officialdom likes paperwork. Maybe take 3 copies of each and signed and with your phone number just to be safe.

Compulsory test before surgery
in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Posted
A friend's girlfriend went into Pattaya International Hospital on 30th December for an urgent operation. They insisted on testing her for Covid-19 before admission (he stayed in her room but did they not test him as said "you live together so no need to test you too"). After succesful surgery she's now at home recovering.
