  1. I just arrived in Bangkok this morning on a NON-O extension of stay expiring 4th May 2022. This trip is only until 10th December so I only bought insurance until 10th December. I was curious to see what date the permitted stay would be due to the short term insurance. Surprisingly, the immigration officer stamped me up to 4th May 2022.
  2. £829 full flex economy roundtrip bought in Jan 2020 for Nov/Dec 2020 but extended for 1 year to use now. Used free gold award upgrade but had to pay extra £298 taxes and charges. Would never buy business class with Thai as it's nearly £3,000.
  3. Just 7 passengers in front cabin business class from London today. I would say they've got a very long way to go to profitability. Service was nice though.
  4. Once you get you Thailand Pass don't expect things to be easy. I printed mine off however the check-in staff here at Heathrow airport this morning didn't know what to do with it as it was the first one they had seen. I had to wait 15 minutes while they called Bangkok. This with Thai Airways. Good luck with non-Thai carriers!
  5. I'm flying THAI this morning from London to Bangkok. It will be interesting to see how it is after all this time. When I returned in April this year there was no In-Flight-Entertainment nor Alcohol being served. I used a "free" Gold upgrade to business class for today's trip and they hit me with £298 in extra charges (normally just £90 for the extra UK Gov tax). They said it was for "fuel surcharge" and "award" admin fee so they are definitely going about money grabbing to try and turn a profit. I'll certainly enjoy trying to reduce any profit by consuming as much of their Champagne as possible but knowing them, highly expect to hear "No Have Sir".
  6. AFAIK it must be presented on check-in, arrival in Thailand (health control and immigration) and to the hotel.
  7. I use GMAIL and it was a UK NHS Covid vaccination pass that does NOT state passport number nor nationality. Both jabs are listed on the same sheet so I simply uploaded the same sheet twice in the vaccination section.
  8. Just received email with Thailand Pass approval and the QR code. It's 5:45pm here in London and I fly at 11:50am tomorrow. I applied as soon as the TP system went live yesterday (Mon 1st Nov) morning. I did already have a COE but it was one that said "no less than 7 days" quarantine on it with exceptions in smaller print below so it was a bit ambiguous and I was concerned the hotel might interpret it wrongly. Anyway, one less thing to worry about now the TP QR code has arrived.
  9. It seems that not only are there techinical issues with Thai Pass application portal there is a fundemental design problem too. Once an application has been submitted and the on screen success or success email received there is no way of knowing whether or not your application is still waiting for process, been rejected or been approved. The only way is if you receive an email from them. With aggressive mail rejection policies in place by some ISPs, an approved (or rejected) application notification could easily never make it to your inbox. There is no way to login to see status (as with COE) and there is no secondaty back-up such as a text SMS alert. Bonkers!
  10. I used this idea successfully on the UK flat I rent over 5 years ago. Never had a rent increase since. Just one month empty will exceed any likely increase in rent the landlord might get.
  11. GIMP is an excellent free and open source photo editor. Very full featured and supports all formats. Simply open a PDF in it and save it as JPG. Been using it for years. www.gimp.org
  12. Not due to sense but nationalistic pride. Thais know best and it would be a loss of face to have any foreigners involved in running their flag carrier airline.
  13. I'm not so sure about that. I successfully submitted application for Thai Pass at 09:30am (Thai time today) and still not received anything other than the acknowledgement email of application. I fly on 3rd November. Others arriving from 11th November alrready received their QR code.
  14. Mine does say “eligible for quarantine-free entry,” below in smaller print however in bold above it say's "No less than 7 days". I know that it should eligible for quarantine free entry but we all know how some Thais might interpret things when it suits them i.e. an extra 6 nights in the SHA+/AQ hotel and the associated revenue it would bring.
  15. Revisited the link just now and still say's "Not less than 7 days".
  16. I applied for Thai Pass as soon as it went live this morning. Also emailed the embassy. If neither of those come through then at least I'll be in Thailand and hopefully sense will prevail for only 1 night in the SHA+/AQ hotel. Good luck too TorquayFan! I was born in Torquay, Devon, UK is that where you are or Torquay in Canada or Australia?
  17. If Thailand really wants tourists then they are going to have to simplify the Thailand pass significantly. The USA ESTA application is easier.
  18. No. No code given on submission success notice or or email acknowledgement.
  19. Just submitted. A couple of notes: 1) The UK issued NHS Covid Pass of vaccination does not have a passport number or nationality stated so wonder if they will accept that 2) No PDF uploads possible. Documents must be jpg, jpeg or png only Received an email immediately saying that "Thailand Pass System has received your registration. The result of your registration will be sent to this email within 7 working days".
  20. I suspect so however I'm afraid that the hotel may try to extra an extra 6 days from me on arrival. I'm going to try for the Thailand Pass too first thing in the morning.
  21. I travel on 3rd November and arrive in Thailand on 4th Nov. Applied for COE on Mon 25th October. Pre-approval on Thursday 28th. COE issued 29th October by RTE London. HOWEVER: My COE states: "Period of Quarantine: No less than 7 days eligible to enter Thailand on the following scheme; (1) Exemption from Quarantine (after receiving negative RT-PCR test result) or (2) Sandbox Programme." I submitted SHA+/AQ Hotel booking for only 1 day and that was approved. A friend received his COE on 30th October and his simply says; " Period of Quarantine: Exemption from Quarantine (after receiving negative RT-PCR test result). I'm alarmed by the bit that say's "No less than 7 days" period of quarantine. I have emailed the embassy. Thoughts anyone?
  22. Often, a Thai business (mostly restaurants or bars) will only have a Facebook page as their online presence. As a potential customer I would like to see what they offer but not if it means having to have Facebook and be forced to log in to view their property/service. Why can't these places have a simple website (pictures, text, menus, prices, contact or booking page)? It often loses them my business as I move on to another establishment that has a regular website.
  23. You are wrong Sir. Thai Airways from your chart above, offer free date changes. You just just need to book a "full flexi" ticket. Don't be a Cheap Charlie! Sorry, I'm just joshing you on this. To be honest that is the fare that I always buy (well used to) with Thai. Your price in Euros and arrival time suggests that you are not in London. I always bought this full flexi fare from London-Bangkok-London as soon as it went on sale for about £829 GBP. I bought my current ticket 4/11 & 10/12 back in Jan 2020 but due to pandemic am only using it next week after they extended the validity due to cancellations in 2020. IF one was to buy the same ticket again it would be over £1,300 GBP a huge rise of about 56% on what I paid for same ticket, same dates last time! The new normal. Now to add insult, I was sitting on "FREE" Gold Award upgrades to Biz Class. Normally the extra charge is about £100 GBP. Now they added a "Fuel surcharge" and "Gold Award admin fee" of £298 GBP. To be fair I did change this ticket many times for FREE so it has value to me. Plus, (other will disagree) I beleive THAI offer the best on-board service from Europe direct, non-stop to Thailand.
  24. Assuming it's just for calls then Skype local number is a good option and works well for me. They have a choice of UK area codes. Calls to my London number come through to my phone app or PC where I am in the world - must be connected on 4G or WiFi though. Just £5.16 per month (received calls are free). A more businesslike option is "RingCentral" that works in a similar way with a huge number of features - I've been using this for my business for the last 4 years.
  25. National Insurance is a tax too. 12% for UK employees and 13.8% for UK employer's NIC's at present Class 1 - due to rise by 2.5% soon. Don't know about Thailand but suspect nowhere near the same as the UK as few people in Thailand are even officially "on the books".
