  1. Pie in the sky as usual from TAT. Next comedy press release please...
  2. I bought the 37 days needed for this trip and still got stamped in right up until expiry of my Non-O retirement extension in May 2022.
  3. I did that on the Thai AXA policy and it seems just ticking the box for any pre-existing condition denies you the insurance. Best just to not list any conditions and get 30 day cover solely as means for re-entry to Thailand. I bought the 37 days needed for this trip and still got stamped in right up until expiry of my Non-O retirement extension in May 2022.
  4. Have you noticed from the threads how many people are refusing to fly here to Thailand?
  5. Many foreigner's here in Thailand are lucky to have escaped all the <deleted> in their home countries. I see a bleak future for the younger generations there (and here too). My son is 18yrs and doing well with a paid apprenticeship and degree course in the UK that will likely guarantee him a good job however the wokery and bs concerns me. His freedoms will be curtailed in a way that most of us here on the forum would not find acceptable. The virus and subsequent restrictions on freedoms will be never ending IMO.
  6. Shame on you if you didn't turn around immediately and depart those premises ????. If you are not a part of the solution...
  7. The pandemic has been very convenient for mobs in charge of many other countries too. It's not just a Thailand thing. Control, control and control the populaces into submission and into being thankful of small freedoms.
  8. All the above will deter many casual customers going on a holiday. Too much friction.
  9. My experience too here in Thailand similar. In the last 20 years I've been stopped probably a dozen times for licence checks or a legitimate offence. Each time waived on my way or fined and ticketed appropriately with receipts. Only once was it by a "rogue" cop looking for a bribe or backhander and on that occasion my wife was with me and she dealt with it (I paid her back of course ???? ).
  10. I'm just back from getting a haircut in Soi Ari. Walking down Phaholyothin road for the first time in 7 months there were hardly any shops, restaurants, small businesses open as most were shuttered with name signs gone and replaced with "for rent/sale" - not like a few years ago. It used to be bustling and crowded but today virtually no foot traffic at 4pm on a nice cool breezy day. The main road would ordinarily have been jammed solid at this time on a Thursday - not today and no longer is there that frenetic energy in this part of the city. In front of Villa Market it used to be jammed with food trucks and franchises, now just a couple left. Barber shop had 3 out of 7 chairs unused and no customers waiting. Courtyard behind had 7 out of 10 kiosks with for rent signs. Saw maybe a dozen people while I enjoyed a cold drink. This just a small part of a big city in a big country. The economic hurt on a local level is enormous. Let alone any areas reliant on tourism.
  11. Of course they do. They use the special Thailand Pass hidden in the hills around Kanchanuburi...
  12. If deliberate. The person clearly has something (or lot of things) loose! I suspect the items could have fallen of the back of a truck.
  13. It's always a risk that something like this can happen. Things change. I wouldn't take a chance and it's for this reason that I (and many others) simply keep 800k THB untouched in a Thai account as part of cost of being able to secure extensions of stay and reside here. Hope it works out for you.
  14. Finances are clearly tight if they are stopping and fining Thais now. A few years ago I was at this location and watched the cops stopping many bikes. They were only stopping farangs, most who were wearing helmets, for licence checks and fining pretty much all of them. At the same time there were hundreds of Thais riding past helmetless and often 3 or 4 per motorbike who didn't even get a glance from the cops.
  15. That tree was already there on 8th November. Likely much earlier. Can't recall what music was playing.
  16. A couple of motorcyclists (one a vlogger) did the first round-trip voyage. Looks like a nice ferry. Well done HammerMan on finally pulling this off. Wishing you all the success you deserve.
  17. Green Park Resort. Right next door to Dusit Thani. It was OK for one night. Likely much better pre-pandemic times.
  18. "Frank" stresses out too much! Maybe I was just lucky. Thai pass submitted 1st attempt on 1st Nov just 30 minutes after system live. Issued on 2nd Nov for flight on 3rd Nov arriving in Thailand 6am on 4th Nov. Very straightforward (although tedious following the "rules") but then I was lucky. Arrived BKK and was first off the plane and through Thai Pass check. 1 minute at immigration and stamped in. Pattaya hotel had staff waiting and private taxi a short while later. In hotel by 08:15am, PCR test and in room by 08:30am. Phone rang at 3:00pm to say Covid test negative. On beach by 4:30pm for sunset. This was before some hotels saw the scam opportunities. It would take a very determined tourist to bother with all this - I forgot to note the insurance and PCR test not more than 72hrs before departure too. What's the website address for Mensa application? ????
  19. Why wouldn't legal vistors be permitted to stay at your property? Let us know what happens with the police.
  20. I was given the ATK test on check out of the SHA+ hotel and told to do it, take a picture and email them on day 6. Did that and never even got an aknowledgement. Hotel told me to download the MorChana app so I did but they did not help me register. No instructions on the ATK kit so looked up how to use it on YouTube. Seems that there really is no checking of the ATKs. Useful to know that you're still Covid negative but that's all.
  21. I like the ADV better than an Aerox. More robust and it seems to have more power (in standard form). Did a ride around Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai last year and a fellow rider had an Aerox. He struggled to keep up.
  22. Certainly could be a flyer but that extra 200cc will make a difference (bit like on a Thai lady). Looking forward to test riding soon!
  23. TBH I think it would be a good location for mixed use. A destination even though no more trains ????. Museum, hotel, restaurants, offices and some shops. Even make some apartments. St. Pancras Station in London is still a busy station but what has been done there with Radisson Hotel, apartments, shops and restaurants inside to preserve the old building is to be applauded (although there are strict building preservation laws in the UK).
  24. WHEELCHAIRS: I've brought several un-motorized folding wheelchairs over recent years with THAI Airways from LHR to BKK as donations. Not once was the weight checked. Just directed to oversize baggage drop-off (and each time arrived in perfect condition at BKK).
