  1. I assume Thai Immigration will issue an written statement that will be as clear as mud...

For instance what “bank statement” will be accepted to account for a whole year?... Bank books (which I never use) don’t really update to show all transactions if you don’t update them regularly... My Bangkok Bank online bank records only go back 6 month - And the bank will only issue formal bank history statements that are for the last six months... I think you can order a longer period but that requires a request sent to the main accounting in Bangkok and take an undetermined number of days... Will these statement have to be dated within 24 hours of your Immigration appointment to be accepted ?...

One assumes we must start a accounting regime stating Jan 1st...

One can can only image the poor souls that walk in with several hundred of ATM stubs :-(...

The 65 a month does not have to be income. Just 65,000 a month coming in from abroad - you could transfer that amount in from savings each month, if desired. Though if you have that much savings, simpler and easier to do the 800,000 method.

Presently the Brits have their nickers in a twist... And there has been a HUGE amount of debate about if this is acceptable to Thai Immigration... As Thai Immigration requires a letter from your home country Embassy/Consul that attests to the 65k being “income”...

  3. Try asking around kiosks on the 4th floor in Airprort Plaza... If you have a model that is not popular, cheap or old finding a replacement screen may be hard... Try looking for your phone model and the word "screen replace" on the Lazada website to give you an idea of the availability of a screen replacement part... then add ~500 baht to the expected cost for someone to install

Back in post #61 Crossy suggested an ID number which I used and it worked. It looks like someone by the name of wayne has also used this number and I now have 2 accounts on my app. Can anyone see this as being a problem (for me)?

If I were you I would delete your PEA account from that public number and go back to the previous post that shows you how to generate your own (private) ID... and use that to create your own account and link your PEA to that

  5. I am watching the price of the original X in the used market (check out Facebook Marketplace)... they are right now in the 25k range... my guess as the new models come available this will quickly drop to ~20k

I would prefer the original X over the Xr because it has the oled display and the cool glass back....

Hubby and I have realized that over the past year, we've spent down the 800,000 baht that had been in account solely in my name, yet we do have well over 1.6 million in accounts in Thailand that are in joint accounts. He's been using an Income Letter for ages without question, yet not all his pension income is deposited in Thailand -- we have financial obligations in the U.S. such as paying the Visa card bill for our charges that are largely made in Thailand.  I am starting my pension soon, but won't have three months of deposit history to show Immigration in February when I apply so, we spent a "happy" afternoon at Bangkok Bank recently, opening new accounts to separate our joint accounts into sole accounts solely for immigration purposes.  Now tell me, how productive is this, except for killing more trees?

Nancy... what would prevent you and your husband from using the same 800k for renewal purposes? If say your renewals are 6 months apart and after one of you renews you transfer the 800k to the other to season for the others renewal in 6 months...

  7. I just had a iPad mini screen replaced... 2,200 baht at one of the kiosks on the 4th floor of Airport Plaza... as you walk from the iStudio store around the bend in the mall he is the first guy on the left/center... good work and price - was completed next day ????

fyi... Lazada sells your battery for ~1,000 baht so I would say another 1,000-1,500 to install as a total price reference for what they should charge...

Basically, assuming you own and live in your own property, you should register EVERY time you return to to that place from a trip OUTSIDE Thailand. If, however, you return to Thailand and go to stay in a different town etc for a break, then wherever you stay, the landlord/receptionist/owner of THAT property should register you. You do not need to go yourself.

when you return to your own town/ home, then YOU should go to local immigration to register.

if you were to return to Thailand, and go straight back to your own home, you need to register as soon as possible. If you then go on a trip somewhere else within Thailand, you do NOT need to register, as it will once again be the responsibility of the hotel or owner of whatever property you stay in ( even if it is just a friends house ). When you go back to your own home after this trip, you do NOT need to re-register.

This sounds excellent in theory... But I would still have a copy of your Pattaya Hotel receipt and your BKK-CM boarding pass that shows your date of arrival back in Chiang Mai when going to CM Immigration to save yourself possible grief...

  9. I can remember flying thru Heathrow airport a couple of year ago with my beloved espresso machine in my carryon... security pulled me aside... I went to a table where a middle aged American lady was having ALL her expensive beauty creams thrown in the garbage for exceeding the 200ml rule... The security guy opened my bag and his eyes widen and he lifted my espresso machine out and said “Pavoni!... These are wonderful!”... tucked it back in my case and with a grin to the American lady I went on my way...

  10. CM Immigration has been a stickler for this... As said go as soon as you return from Pattaya... Have a copy or receipt from you Pattaya Hotel or better yet your airplane boarding pass showing arrival the previous day to prove you were there and unable to comply promptly.

No form to fill out - the lady at the desk just updates your new arrival card number in their computer and makes a note in your passport

The impression I got from the interview was that it was not just a compliance audit but one to evaluate where costs could be cut and downsizing take place. Needs to be remembered this is all taking place at the same time as they move from a large site of prime real estate into a condo or such like in the CBD.

Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Given the reported 250 people a month that they charge 2,300 baht means they’re walking away from almost 7 million baht in annual revenue... Good way to cut costs!... :coffee1:

I'm used to paying 60bht to see a doctor at Thai government hospitals or 200bht at a private clinic.

I don't mind paying, but I do mind paying more because I have white skin.

That's the normal cost for private treatment.

CM Ram charges Thais the same as farrangs... :coffee1:

I tried to use this app but it would not accept my passport number as a ID.

I went to PEA here in Hun Hin and they said Farang cannot use this app because I do not have a Thai ID.

What is everybody using for Thai ID number?

Go back and read post 61... change that suggested ID number by one digit and use that as your Thai ID (do not forget that number as it is your account/ID for PEA now)
