Be sure you are aware that bed size in Thailand is not the same as in USA.  Normally are 2 inches shorter and King is 72" wide - not the USA 76".  For 76" it would be super king size and still shorter.

I have a comforter that I have to constantly chase inside a duvet because of this! ?

We have thought of that, but felt we would buy one as most homes we have looked at have double or queen sized beds at best. We want a king.

Be prepared to pay ~100,000 baht for a good king sized memory foam mattress in a Dept Store... If later you want to sell expect to get 20,000 baht if at all...

Thanks all for your help.  I went to Phra Sing  with my code.  Managed to get my sneakers after paying a 1500 Baht duty tax which I was kind of expecting and showing ID

    Thanks everyone

Curious?... What was the price Amazon originally charged for the sneakers... ?

    Amorn should have some chargers.

Lazada has plenty of good and cheap controllers... I am just trying to get my head around the marketing strategy of selling solar panels without offer any wiring or charge controller option?... ?

I thought that the US Dept.of State has a Chief of Protocol, whose duty is to ensure that the president and the first lady are not embarrassed when meeting foreign dignitaries.  And, of course, a reasonable person would expect even more special attention devoted to protocol regarding royalty and for such an important and familiar ally, as if knowing how to act with the British monarch would be obscure to that office.

So, what went wrong?  I'd love to have seen the briefing, assuming there was one.

To quote Boris Johnson “You can’t polish a t*rd”... :coffee1:

Apologies for late reply.Coming south down Hang Dong Rd from the city past Makro its about 200 m past the next 7/11 you come to on the left (50 m past the new gym)

A Pharmacy sign  (in Thai) is always out the front on the footpath when open which is almost always. The guys name is Ton.

Limited English but knows his medicines.

Is this the same place where the guy is teaching others to be pharmacists?... Just past the new gym... If so you are right... And his prices are great!... Ibuprofen 600mg 10 for 30 baht!...

  7. I was just in the Chiang Mai Global House (I think it’s still Global House as they have totally revamped the place including a huge sign out front in Thai that I don’t think says Global House?...)

But inside they had a display and stack of 325w solar panel with MC4 connector price at 4,999 baht !... I have never seen them that low of price... I asked the guy If they sold charge controller to go with it and he ran off to get another guy who came and said “no have - just panel” ?

  8. I think it is Yamaha not the land department who says they need your certificate for two days.... As posted above the land dept want to just see it not retain it for two days... If you were to do all the paperwork yourself instead of having the dealership do it you would not have to give up your passport for the few days... personally I would not sweat it as I would have no desire to spend any time at the land dept...:coffee1:

Why would you buy the SIM via Lazada when you can buy it cheaper direct from AIS??

The Truemove H SIM is good value, though it's unclear about the registration dates posted.

I honestly have no idea why you are quoting kbps. A bit strange. ?

More useful would be kB/s; 125 kB/s downstream for the 1 Mbps connection and 500 kB/s downstream for the 4 Mbps connection.

What AIS store sells it for less?... Do you have a link of lower price?.... sorry about my use of Kbps which is the same as your kB/s... I was just trying to be consistent with previous posts for comparison purposes...

When I see posts with statements that OP 'idman' stated such as "in typical Thai fashion" and "Yeah, it's great to be a Falang trying to live here" and "Sod these <deleted> Thai Immigration people and their bull...<deleted> rules they make up to frustrate us", I begin to imagine that attitude could have been a contributing factor to his experience.

Regarding: "My lease is up in March 2019 and unless things change I am on my way to Phnom Penh". That is probably a good idea for 'idman'. No doubt he will find Cambodia to be much better sorted out regarding bureaucratic efficiency than Thailand, BS-free and no corruption as well as a bonus..

Just talked with an American friend who went to Chiang Mai Imm today for his one-year retirement extensions, not his first.  He wasn't asked for any "proof" of income besides the Income Letter from the Consulate.  He used a visa agent, one of the well-known visa agents with an office in town.

It looks as though it was just an acorn that has fallen apon the OPs head...:coffee1:

  12. Here is a prepaid AIS sim that give you a year of unlimited internet at 1mbps (1,000kbps)...

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/sim-net-ais-4g-1mbps-ais-12-hook-i203281847-s307018855.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.4.46bf4b01pEtYi0&search=1

True has a similar sim with 4mbps (4,000kbps) speeds

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/true-sim-net-true-4g-unlimit-4-mbps-unlimit-i106935595-s108013299.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.14.20e819ccf0Bm2A&search=1

If the OP has a phone with two SIM card capability he could do the postpaid with the cheapest plan to get the promotion and add one of the above prepaid cards for data...

If you have a spouse or child who gobbles up data I would suggest one of the above unlimited data cards...

Not true at all.  If one returns home and comes back with $10,000 in USD, there would not be any transaction record of money arriving in Thailand, which, I believe as time goes on the Thais are actually going to want to see.  I myself plan to return to the states at least twice a year as I have various interests there that require or I want to spend my attention on. So coming and going twice a year, I would not have to transfer much money to Thailand explicitly.  Cash and carry most of the time

Of I were you... When returning to Thailand pick the Immigration queue with the prettiest Thai of your persuasion and after they stamp you in ask them if you can take a photo with them while you are holding your cash... :coffee1:
