IMO not worth the risk. I only found out where it is by asking as it's tucked away to the side and very easy to pass through the point of no return without seeing it.

    Tucked away?... :saai:

Yes, I know some people who have "failed" to get a re-entry permit because they don't have enough time, don't have a photo and/or can't locate the counter and before they realize it, they're processed through the Imm. podiums and in the waiting area for their flight, unable to go back and get a re-entry permit.  Some naively think they can "re-instate" their retirement visa extensions once they return.  Back when I was president of CM Expats Club I had numerous conversations with members who had done exactly this, perplexed as to why they received a 30 day permission to stay stamp when they returned to Chiang Mai and asking for an easy fix.  (answer:  there isn't an "easy fix" at that point)

Nancy you are very polite... But I think JW said it better...

  3. I have internet thru Sinet... my prepaid one year contract will end soon and I noticed their offices in Hang Dong and Big C are closed?... Are they still in business  to extend my service?... Their internet has been great - Has anyone seen a office still open in one of the malls?

  4. I have a TM30 put in place a few years ago by the owner of the house I rent - The receipt of which is stapled in my passport.

All last year I travelled and stayed in many hotels thruout Thailand... Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Hua Hin, Koh Lipe and so on... some hotels were large such as the Hilton in Pattaya... I never left the country until Christmas when we did a cruise in Halong Bay... the day after I returned I went to Immigration on the second floor of Prom... It took less than 5 minute (lucky there was no one in line)... She looked me up in the computer and told me the street address of my house to confirm address... She scribbled and stamped something on my TM30 receipt in my passport... she gave everything to the officer in charge to approve and gave it back to me...

I would assume that one of the many Thai  hotels I stayed in during the year would have notified my stay to Immigration...  But that did not red flag me when I went to Prom after me international return...

My bet is they have absolutely no system to track a person bested on computer...

Thanks, Kevin. I'm going to head over there this afternoon sometime. It looks like it's in the direction of the YOK store.

Yes it is just down the street from Yok... next to The Mercedes dealership... Btw the Yok in that area is a very small store only carrying the basics... nothing like the large store on the ring road...

  6. I agree with Nancy that one should rent in a building before buying to get a feel for the building and the neighborhood...

Rent is cheap... Selling is hard...

The only condo I’d move into sight unseen would be The Embassy House ;-)

  7. Banks do not readily reimburse for ATM fraud here...

To limit my potential loss I have two accounts with my bank... one where my monthly wire transfers are deposited and emergency fund is kept - this accounts ATM card is never used and in my safe... I then have a second account with an ATM Visa card for regular use... this account I put no more than 20,000 baht in by free transfers from my other account... this is easily done by my banks App on my phone. I also receive texts of all withdrawals and Visa charges...
