  1. Plus, in the UK, they are quickly becoming uninsurable. Just imagine the cost of write offs in Thailand with a few traffic knocks to their batteries.
  2. Yes me too, not restless though annoyed. If everyone used phones to pay we would never get served. That's why i like Makro, cash only.
  3. I thought Vietnam's visa policies made it impossible for long stay/retirement. Personally i think only Cambodia offers an option to Thailand.
  4. Only shoeboxes in a terrible location. Who would live there except AirBnB?
  5. Most bikes you can get there and then by just walking into the shop with the cash. and your residence certificate (from immigration). The only issue is price (as scuba says). You used to be able to get a bike at MSRP, or maybe slightly below, but now most add a farang tax of 8% or so. Asia Motors might get you a better price but you have to decide if it's worth the trouble. The only extras you will get is a flimsy jacket or cheap helmet (which you probably won't use). I asked for a lock instead. I have used the Mityon dealers on Thepprasit Road and opposite Big C Extra, both gave a good service (apart from price).
  6. I feel very safe walking around Pattaya but on the roads is a different matter. One Thai guy threatened to shoot me because i beeped my bike horn at him.
  7. Microsoft blocked my access to Office 365, they wanted 3000 baht. I started using LibreOffice, just as good and free.
  8. Thais will do anything for money. Send him photos of the murdered Ukrainian women and children.
  9. Parking is not the problem, it's accommodation. No hotel rooms available within 50 kms. As soon as the date was announced all the rooms were booked up. And why choose October the middle of the rainy season.
  10. Really, he's just bought a new Tesla, cost him maybe $70,000. Is he just supposed to throw it away? He has no choice but to buy the new battery.
  11. All the VT buildings are like prison blocks with no character at all. Yes they are cheap boxes if that is all you want.
  12. Read the news, an EV owner recently charged $20,000 to replace his battery after water ingress.
  13. Why not? the Russians haven't totally destroyed Phuket yet.
  14. I always fancied a cruise starting and finishing from Laem Chabang but could never find any cruises that offered that as an option. Has the OP any details of such cruises?
  15. You can get rooms here for 3-500 a night. Why bother with all the hassle of sleeping outside. Could end up costing you more.
  16. So does that mean a thai female can never have a holiday in the USA? Seems bizarre.
  17. You will both need your passorts, visas and a residence certificate from immigration. The easiest way is for you both to drive to to the Driving Licence Centre off Highway 36 (in Pattaya). People there can do the paperwork for a few hundred baht. The DLC will check the car belongs to you and they can change the name in the green book to the buyer. He hands over the money and it's done. Maybe only 1 hour.
  18. Yes that can't possibly be the case. If the Government tried it they would totally destroy the foreign condo market.
  19. I would be more than happy being alone with just a dog, but can't have one in the condo. After a lifetime of dealing with difficult people it's a release.
  20. Was his gold chain taken as well?
  21. Koh Chang in rainy season October, you will be the only 2 people there.
  22. That's the digital edition with no disc drive. The disc edition is more expensive. 18300 baht is 407 GBP. Price in the UK Amazon is 462 GBP. Thailand is always cheaper.
  23. When Thai banks quote these rates like the MOR 7.575% are these APR (Annualised Percentage Rate) or a flat rate. When i see many adverts offering credit they seem to quote flat rates, which are roughly half the APR.
  24. In my Honda dealership in Pattaya, Thepprasit Road they have about 5 ADVs all ready to go. Just arrive with your documents and cash and ride it out. My problem would be paying the 8% farang tax they are charging.
