He is talking about returning from overseas to do an annual extension, regardless if he stays in a hotel overnight, and yes we know the hotel would have to submit a TM30, he still has to go to his immigration office to notify them of his return, i.e. as I mentioned earlier, if his immigration is as strict as others, i.e. they all have their own rules. I have returned from overseas on many occasions and stayed in a hotel for up to a week, but still had to report to immigration office in my province to let them know that I'm back in my province. It is what it is, and as I mentioned previously, it doesn't take one second.

Agree with you 100% on the above. Kudos for you for finding a suitable place to take care of you and help you on the road to recovery. I lost a brother and a father to the drink, it's a terrible disease and has shattered many families and destroyed many people's lives. I don't drink much, a couple of small light beers when socialising a couple of nights a week, and no alcohol at home. Friend of mine has been off the drink for over a decade after seeking help, he voluntarily checked himself in for 2 weeks while running a business, took meds for a year or so, and hasn't touched a drink since, that said, he does crave it though, but drinking 6 large ones followed by 2 bottles of red at night after work, everyday would have ended him if he didn't believe he had a problem. He actually asked me if I thought he drank too much, we used to meet up once a week with a few of the lads, have a meal, and a couple of beers, then play some stick, he would leave after his second drink, unbeknownst to me, he wanted to get home to drink more and not be over the limit (booze buses). When he asked, he said he had heard that I lost my brother and wanted to know how much he drank and then opened up, I said, black and white, no gray in between, if you want to come and visit my brother one day to see your future resting place, keep drinking, that hit him straight between the eyes. I have the utmost respect for him to this day, and of course am sad that my late brother couldn't have done the same, but his alcoholism was different, he had a lot of pain due to be busted up from accidents, and there is only so much pain relief, painkillers can offer, then it's the hardcore stuff. How does it take one second ? I am travelling out of Thailand this year, fortunately I return on a Friday night and after getting a connecting flight from Bangkok to my province airport, I would arrive home around 10pm, so I would be pretty knackered, and will have the weekend to shake off the jetlag, that said, on Monday morning I will have a 1 hour 30 minute drive to my immigration office to advise them that I am back. My TM30 will take a minute after I arrive at the immigration office, and being the 1st cab off the rank, so to speak, but more so 3 hours + when taking the driving into consideration. Would love for them to accept "I'm back over the phone" one day or online, but that would be easy, as they need to shuffle paper from my experience, LOL.

Your quick to judge, did you notice that there were two Thai's, and it wouldn't take long for more to join in if the opportunity arose. I note that the guy standing back, had a weapon, no doubt ready to use it if the opportunity got heated, Thai's can be as equally aggressive as foreigners if provoked. What I saw, was two Thai guys telling this guy that they had him on camera as they kept pointing to their eyes and the foreigner. One of the Thai guys appeared to be aggressive in his demeaner, regardless of the foreigners size. Road rage happens when children can't keep their cool, no rights here, that said, I think the foreigner did well to get out of there as quick as he did, obviously he has experience with Thai's, and he probably saw that the other Thai was hiding something so said to himself, give them the old one, two and go. Do I blame anybody for what happen, nope, $hit happens, always best to keep a cool head, no matter where you are, 1st thing my wife said to me when we moved here was, don't beep your horn or get angry with other drivers, suffice to say, I am the one trying to keep her under control when something happens from other riders/drivers, which is a daily event LOL

As DrJack54 & couchpotato above have said, get a reentry permit and have all your docs ready for your marriage extension, including the 400k in the bank a few months before and then go to immigration when you return, because some offices require you to go and advise them that your back in the country within 24 hours of landing.

Totally disagree with your post. Let me be clear about this, even if I was back in my home country surrounded by farangs/parents of my sons/daughters birthday party that I invited them to, with me having stipulated to the staff what I want for my sons/daughters birthday party and Karen wants to take control ordering everything for everyone (not her kids party), then she is going to end up with the bill, less what I preordered, simple to me. Sounds like she was showing off, overstepped her mark and ended up losing face, rightfully so. I am fortunate with regard to my wife's family never bothering us, and yes they are on struggle street, if the wife requires something, she will ask and I will provide, guess I'm one of the lucky ones, or the parents are that there daughter has someone to take care of her, better than a Thai could, yes I'm presuming, so it works for us both. I must admit, that I did lay the ground rules in the beginning, i.e. I am marrying you, not your family and she agreed, now I know a lot of women would like that, regardless of nationality because most women are tight with their mums, mine isn't which is a bonus.

As a parent many times over, I can tell you children are resilient, and I'm sure Packer would have explained to his son after the party, as part of his ongoing education as a parent, as I have done many times, that you do not to allow people to force you into a situation, especially Thai's when it comes to ordering or buying things and expecting you to pay for it, simple really.

Again, statistics George as I have only know one guy in the decade that I have been here who returned to his homeland, because he retired early and spent all his money, he will be back on the pension in the next couple of years I believe. Ah, yes, that dreaded Nanny State that I left a decade ago without any regrets. Life in retirement is what you make of it Dr George, I don't wear rose coloured glasses, although I do wake up at 5.30am, make a coffee, let the dog out for a pee, drink my coffee and listen to some news, then I head off for an hours walk around a lake, when I complete my walk, I will sit at the lake under a tree between 8.30am-9.00am drinking coffee that I brought with me, it's relaxing and I enjoy it. I will then head to Lotus, do some light shopping and head back home where I live in a BIG comfortable house and make breaky at about 10.30-11.00, after breaky, I'll check my emails, and give it about an hour before I go for a little kip, say 30 minutes to an hour, more if possible. When I awake, the world is my oyster as I have half of the day to do whatever I please, now whether that's YouTubing it, watching TV, but that's usually in the evenings, or chatting with the Mrs till she cooks up a nice lunch, then in the evening, depending on which nights I go, up to 3-4 nights a week, I will head to the local bar to shoot some pool and chat with a variety of retired expats from all over the globe. We are all content with our lives Dr George, life is what you make of it, sounds like your not very happy with yours, and aren't sure if you cut your ties with the Nanny State, whether you'll be happy here. Pattaya is not for me, I like the country life, that provides me with the opportunity to travel around Thailand, not a City slicker and don't like touristy area's, where there are mostly low life's, to me Hua Hin, Chang Mai, Rayong and parts of Phuket (outside of Patong) that are nicer and more enjoyable. You seem to get in trouble a bit, last I heard it was a 7/11, touch in that chest, it's no Australia here m8, learn to chill and take things easy, 2,000 baht + a bar fine for a woman for the night is average in Pattaya, I would think it would be 3-4 times that back in Oz for an hour. You sound lonely, perhaps you should try and dip your toe's, you know, get a girlfriend, love you long time, there are some good ones out there, I know lots of guys who have long term relationships with girls from bars, self included, you just to know how to handle the beast (financially). Looks like you've got it down pat, that said, when and if you make the switch to move here permanently, i.e. if you so desire, things will change, that said, already starting to change here with the new tax laws here, not that I give a rats, because they ain't getting one baht from me.

A) There are appropriate channels to go through if you want answers. B) If the parents didn't like how things were being run at the school or the schools responses, they could have taken the kid out and put her into another school. C) Lawyer up. These days you can't go head on, otherwise they will use whatever means available to them, let's not forget they banned from the school for causing a nuisance on school property, then carried on, the Principal sounds like a real nutter, but obviously knows law, hence the reason I suggested what I suggested in A), B) & C) above. Overreach on the parents side if you ask me, especially when it's a public school.
