Kerry Packers famous quote comes to mind, but you'll have to Google it, good old Kerry, he certainly wasn't an ideologue.

OMG Georgie Boy, I have missed you, still doing steroids and cleaning at the hospital, waiting for your superannuation LoL People who qualify for the full Age Pension, only need to have lived in Australia for 35 years, and not have worked one day in their lives, how good is that, keep working and paying taxes m8, I've been living here for over a decade and pay zero taxes, cashed in my super as well, some of us found the loophole, some of us aren't capable. Also a lot of guys here didn't get the house handed down to them, you know the one you rent out and live in the granny flat out back LoL

I am only talking about the age pension as is the topic (respectfully), I am not on the age pension, but used to keep up to date on the matter but left as someone had taken over it pushing his ben agenda which has nothing to do with it as it stands today. As my m8's are all on it, I did keep abreast, but no point now as mentioned above. What rebates ne gets doesn't apply to non-residents as far as I am aware, same with deeming rates, you can't get any rebates as a non resident and they will apply deeming rates to any additional worldwide income you have.

Australian Aged Pension
She hit the nail on the head in her video at 6.20 to 6.30, i.e. if your new country doesn't tax pensions, you could end up paying nothing at all. Now as far as I know, Thailand doesn't tax foreign pensions, e.g. again, I don't know any age pensioner that pays tax on their age pension here in Thailand. I am surprised you let that one slip conveniently, LoL

Australian Aged Pension
My reply was not intended to be taken as humorous. 2. I completed the form on the website as single with no, no and no, and none of the above for all other questions and answered no to: Did all of the following circumstances apply to you in the 2024-25 income year? * You were a foreign resident for tax purposes (full or part year) you had a Higher Education Loan Program, VET Student Loan or Australian Apprenticeship Support Loan(Opens help) debt, and your worldwide incomeopens in a new window Link opens in new window was above $13,608 and it all came back that I do not have to pay tax. See below: You do not need to lodge a tax returnYou do not have to lodge a tax return for the 2024-25 income year. You should submit a completed non-lodgment advice to the ATO. To access this online service you need a myGov account linked to the ATO. If you already have a myGov account linked to the ATO, you can simply log on to complete your non-lodgment advice.opens in a new window Link opens in new window If you don't have a myGov account or your myGov account is not linked to the ATO, go to myGov and linking to the ATO.opens in a new window Link opens in new window If you received franking credits you may be eligible to claim a refund of franking credits. Go to, how to claim a refund of your franking credits.opens in a new window Link opens in new window 3. Most guys over here on the age pension when they applied said they are not married because they know that the pension could be less, that said, I even completed the form as married, and it came back that I am not required to lodge a tax return, now even a baby in dippers knows that if you aren't required to lodge a tax return, then you are not required to pay tax. I have provided the link, you chose to fill it in as you wanted to get the results you wanted, you do not speak for the majority of aged pensioners here, suffice to say, as far as the ATO website says, they do not have to pay tax and that is enough for me and I am sure for them, it's the end of the story, if you choose to carry on with your scaremongering, I personally won't provide you with anymore oxygen, which is what you need to carry on with your delirium. I am 110% certain that everyone on this forum, who has no other income, single or married and is on the age pension is fully aware that they do are not required to lodge a tax return which means they are not required to pay tax, regardless whether they are a resident or a non-resident, except for you. Like I have always said, you can lead the donkey to water, but you can't force it to drink, so enjoy your dehydration. Another one would be; why would a bee try to convince a fly that honey tastes better than S.... I have done my part on proving that if you are single or married, resident or non-resident, and have no other income, you do not have to lodge a tax return and therefore do not have to pay tax as an aged pensioner. Peace out.

Now there is a reason for that, copy this link, paste it into your URL and fill in the questions, and you will see that one doesn't have to lodge a tax return, nor pay tax on their Age Pension. https://www.ato.gov.au/single-page-applications/calculatorsandtools?anchor=DINTL#DINTL/questions Looks like you got yourself in a corner LoL, no doubt you won't accept the facts straight off of the ATO's website. That said, we won't hold out breath.

I couldn't help but notice that you used the word WILL as if to say this is something that will happen in the future when all this time you have said Age Pensions are taxable now, but fail to show us all any evidence of one Age Pensioner paying this tax. More the fool you are, so do us all a favor and man up or shut up.

Australian Aged Pension
Did I mention any names, surely you don't really expect me to reply adding fuel to your already extinguished fire, do you. Ok, I will, how about you read Articles 17, 18 and 19 and truly understand what it says, in particular, 17 with 18 and then show us something from somewhere, other than YouTube posts, or wellness articles ect ect that shows us unequivocally, that they ARE and HAVE been taxing Age Pensions, otherwise give us all a break, because we ALL know about laws and how legislation is made, but rarely enforced, especially with the Age Pension, suffice to say I know half a dozen Ozzie Age Pensioners here as Non Residents, who pay ZERO tax on their Age Pension, and they have been here from 3 to 20 years, so do explain to me how that is, they only lost the subsidies after being out of the country for 6 weeks onwards and any rental assistance they were receiving. Come on now Einstein, give it your best shot, not all those P weak rebellious and delusional rubbish posts that you keep clutching at, e.g. you will see, its coming, all the fear mongering with no substance, proof is what we want, suffice to say you might interpret the legislation as saying Age Pensioners are to be taxed in the state of residency or issuing country, but what we want to see is evidence that they have actually enforced it. The above said, I would like to hear from any Age Pensioners living here as Non Residence, do you pay tax on your Age Pension, it might Just add weight to what we all ready know, but will buggerlugs accept it, well we all know the answer to that LoL

To Lodge a Complaint about an Immigration Office or not

Dame shame because we all used to contribute and receive good information from this post which has been around for over a decade. That said, it only takes one persistent tool to annoy everyone to finally pull the pin. The overall loss is to ASEAN NOW, but who am I to tell them how to run their forum, easy to just exit.

To Lodge a Complaint about an Immigration Office or not
Recently I applied for my annual marriage extension (10th year). After going through the annual BS with the bank, the Amphur, photos, updating bank passbook again after making a withdrawal after visiting the bank to get the letter than photocopying the updated passbook, we drove to immigration which takes an hour. We entered, went to the desk where they have their little helpers (students) who went through the paperwork and handed it back. I proceeded to sit and wait, counted 6 people ahead of me, no queuing system, so you could imagine, anyways, I followed numbers 5 & 6 getting closer to the front desk, after 6, I walked towards the male immigration officer and he told me to go back and sit very rudely and then proceeded to take others who were behind my que, my wife entered after an hour and asked what was happening, and I explained, she then proceeded to ask the immigration officer about the queuing system and he said your husband has to take his papers to the desk, to which I replied, already done. We both don't like this guy, since day one, the other one who I haven't seen for a while, always asks for money for his Christmas Fund, which we refuse. Anyways, the lady there then called out something in Thai and there was a mad rush of Laos people handing their passports over, so my wife then showed them what a Lioness she can be, that's when I exited to the bathroom, upon my return she was sitting at the desk where the lady immigration officer was and told me to sit. I figured her words got through one way or another and we got served, in all took an extra hour from where I was originally in the que, so my question is, should I fire a rocket up them an request that they get a queuing system in order, or don't waste my time as I only have to see them once a year, which repulses me. Won't say which office it's at, however you can guess it's in Issan.

Retired Aussie Officer Loses 40 Million Baht in Phuket Crypto Scam
Due diligence is always required, trust is but a word. For someone who is heavily invested into Crypto which has been very profitable, I only deal with Crypto Exchanges, you know the legit ones. I have a friend who is currently being scammed, and I have told him but it's not Crypto, he doesn't want to believe me because his screen shows him he's making a killing on Meta and some other stock that haven't moved in ages. Oh well, the cop obviously wasn't wearing his cop hat, hope he gets it back, but fat chance of that happening.

Be aware of this even if you have Health insurance cover!!!
I will have to agree as generally one wouldn't have to inform their health insurer, that said, I thought it was a standard, after sighting the fine print in a health insurance policy that I once had, e.g. it basically stated that after disclosing any conditions prior to taking out the policy and it is approved, the insurer must be updated at all times of any conditions that the insured is diagnosed under in the future, regardless if they are not making a claim, as the insurer may decide not to pay any claim related to that condition diagnosed and not disclosed to the insurer at the time of diagnosis. The above said, as I previously mentioned, I stopped insuring due to over the top annual increase in premiums, with no claims. I am not suggesting you do the same, but if you have funds to back yourself up in an event, and or can return to NZ for treatment, that might be a way of saving on premiums now and in the future due to their increases. Apart from that, eat healthily, drink in moderation, and exercise, should keep you away from trouble extending your longevity.

Be aware of this even if you have Health insurance cover!!!
I wasn't aware it was a Thai insurer, that said, I would never insure with a Thai personally as I have heard some bad stories when it came to coughing up. When I once insured, and going through the fine print, it did state about the duty of disclosure when applying and that the insurer MUST know of any changes to ones condition, even if they weren't making a claim, that said, I would have thought most would be the same, but then again maybe not.

Be aware of this even if you have Health insurance cover!!!
I can't tell you what to do, but I can say that I hear you loud and clear. When I 1st came here a decade ago, no one would cover my pre-existing condition, 2 years later I found one that did through a broker, however the policy was for emergency cover only. As I was just under 60 years of age, it all started out good, 70,000 per annum, which included my pre-existing condition, then the following year it jumped to 90,000 per annum, I questioned why the sharp rise, Covid claims, oh ok, I see, (not me), the following year 110,000 per annum, I questioned the sharp rise again, oh, you are now in the 59-64 year bracket, oh, ok, the following year 140,000, again, I questioned them and they said that they changed underwriters, oh ok, that is when I decided that I was not renewing and have been without cover for 6 - 7 years. I made zero claims, and they bent me over so to speak. I also had my family on private cover, so the last 6-7 years worth of premiums that I have saved has been put aside, that is well over 1,000,000 baht in premiums, allowing for increases, say 1.5 mil baht. I have reserves in case of an emergency, that said, unless it is something major, it isn't going to cost an arm and a leg, and if need be, and I can fly, I will go back to the old country where we still have Medicare, because we use it every 3 years when we return, so as long as we are not out of the country for 5 years continuously, we are good. I have been to a private hospital a couple of time and it hasn't cost an arm and a leg for out patient procedures, that said, the University hospitals are quite good as are the Military hospitals, I have been told.

Read the fine print, you have a duty of care to inform your insurer of any changes in your condition, whether it's a growth a mur mur in your heart etc etc, etc. If I were you, I would get a letter from your heart doctor when it was 1st picked diagnosed and provide that to the health insurer you are with, providing a thorough explanation as to why you didn't advise them of it when it was 1st diagnosed. If they don't buy it, yes, your next health insurer will class it as a pre-existing condition.

Thailand Tightens Rules for Foreign Drivers: Tests Now Mandatory
Thank you gentlemen, I will make a diary note and renew my licenses a day after they are due to expire in 2028, hopefully my expiry date hasn't transpired first LoL

Thailand Tightens Rules for Foreign Drivers: Tests Now Mandatory
So it's not really 6 years then, e.g. if I renewed it today, lets say a day after my birthday (22/06/2025), then the expiry date on the next renewed license would be 23/06/2030). Or would it be 22/06/2031 ?

Thailand Tightens Rules for Foreign Drivers: Tests Now Mandatory
Oh, I like that, go one day after my birthday and get 6 years. Is that for the same 300 baht that I pay for 5 years ?

Thai Spouse Extension - Changes.
Many thanks for your detailed post and experience. My wife has to sign some docs annually, no idea what they are, and I have to sign a TM7 in front of them, hence the reason I don't glue the photos in the ones I do at home out of habit. Waste of time really as I have already completed them, but up to them if they want me to sign new ones when there. The witness ID & signature can be a deal breaker for us as we live an hour 20 from our immigration office, of which we only visit once a year, 90 days online thankfully. My experience is always an issue annually, no matter how well prepared you are, and trust me you, I have my ducks all set up in a row as well. Last time, we were told, as I had a new bankbook, there was no need for me to copy each and every page of the old one anymore, about 17 pages, just the new one and the 3 months supplied by the bank with the letter. When we went this time, we were told that we needed the last bank book pages as well, but we said, we were told, we didn't, yes, yes, said the head IO, but the rules changed, but if you want to give a donation to the Christmas fund, nobody has to know, wife turned to me, and said, did you bring extra docs, as I normally do, yep, I said, in the car honey, get them, I went and got 12 months of bank statements printed and the old bank book, yes I am all over these clowns. Came back in with them, he took a look at 2 pages and slide them bank, ok, I just had to see them. Hopefully next trip, we don't have do the witness thing as you experienced, that said, I fail to see what the Kor Ror 2 has to do with anything then, as it states we are still married, but yet we need a witness as well LOL, you can't help stupid.
