  1. Did you not know that you can also get the Yellow Vaccination Passports at your local Ministry of Public Health Office for 50 baht ?
  2. I look at this passport as proof when I do enter another country, when quarantine and negative Covid tests are a thing of the past. If you look around the world, Covid infection rates have dropped a lot and are continuing to drop, apart from countries who are behind in getting vaccinations to their people, like Thailand for example, but progress is slowly happening in those countries, suffice to say, who knows, by years end you will see a lot more countries opening up as they reach herd immunity.
  3. Did we not know what we were all coming too back when we came here when we did ? Now some are crying over getting residency, well the a-nal extension is just fine by me as I still have citizenship back in the old country, money, and can return as quick as I can book a flight, as can the whole family as they all have dual citizenships. I don't need Thailand, she needs me, and while she does, I will continue to enjoy my time here as I didn't put all of my eggs into the one basket ???? I have been saying it for years as some other bright sparks here have too, always apply the 10% rule, and leave the other 90% back in the home country as your fall back position, has worked for me and some others, government pensions are not for me thanks, I like to stand on my own two feet, but I can understand others put all of their eggs in the one basket and can't go back and other reasons, each to their own.
  4. Sakon Nakhon, although they do say that the division they send it to for approval changes the rules every time so they have to make sure we comply so that it gets approved.
  5. As far as I have read, booster shots (3rd doses) are not really required, although Israel may have jumped the gun so to speak. Booster shots or (3rd doses) are usually for the elderly or those with immunocompromised systems, suffice to say to order 3rd shots at this point in time would be wrong IMO, best to adopt the wait and see approach on how things are panning out with the virus, not forgetting that there are 3rd world countries that have been left behind, so might be best that they get the assistance that they require to get them in line with the rest of the world so as to reduce the virus to a flu or cold like symptom is achievable. The above said, I had two Pfizer shots and have paid for 2 Moderna shots, when and if Moderna arrives, I will put it back as far as I can, even if it costs me the money I paid for it, that said, 12 months time would be like having an annual flu shot, so that is when I am looking to have it, if the expiry date allows for it or they can put my order on a new shipment to arrive around then ? If on the other hand they say we need one in 6 months, then Moderna it will be in 6 months, if available.
  6. In April, the Disease Control Department announced the release of Thailand’s COVID certificate. The passport will resemble vaccine certificates that have been commonplace for decades, like the Yellow Fever Card. It will display the traveler’s name and identification number as well as the dates of vaccination and the type of vaccine received. Thailand’s vaccine passport is issued by appointment at one of the following institutions: The Bureau of General Communicable Disease at Suvarnabhumi airport Travel Medicine Clinic Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute Urban Disease Control and Prevention, Bang Khen, Bangkok “Those who have completed the vaccination will receive a COVID-19 certificate,” announced Anutin Charnvirakul, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, after a National Communicable Diseases Committee held on March 8th, 2021. The government refers to this document as a “vaccine passport” since it is meant to help restore international travel and tourism, a key industry for the Southeast Asian country. “If you wish to travel abroad, bring a certificate of vaccination, obtain a vaccine passport or ‘yellow book‘,” said Charnvirakul.
  7. When I first came to Thailand in 2006 I took a swim in Patong Beach, the water was warm compared to the cold water back home where you would have to run in and dive, otherwise you'd look like a weakling walking in, hands slightly raised as you start lowering yourself into the water....lol Put my boardshorts on the balcony to dry and the next day went to get them to go to the beach, for some reason I smelt them, OMG, the stench of vomit on my boardshorts was toxic, that was the last time I ever swam in Patong Beach, I would hire a bike and ride all the way to Nai Harn where the water was clean, well worth spending the day there with a few mates, straw style restaurants a short walk up the hill, a few beers then back in the crystal clear water. Have travelled all around Thailand and unless the beach is out of town for a fair way wouldn't even contemplate it, even when staying at a beach front hotel in Huan Hin, I would use the pool.
  8. Yes I have heard things vary from office to office, i.e. never had to get one in 3 years, then all of a sudden, needed it, suffice to say every year things change with them handing me paperwork back that was required the year before.
  9. Albeit it draconian. I agree the 90 day reporting is stupid, as well as the annual repeat extension method, no one really looks at the paperwork, although the marriage visa has to go to another office for inspection and approval. The problem here is anyone who comes up with a good idea usually gets side lined unless its an idea from the boss, i.e. there is no incentive for one to think outside the box, promotions are usually by way of seniority. I mean how difficult would it be to walk into an immigration office anywhere in the country with ones passport, updated bankbook showing the money is in the account on the prescribed date, filling in a single form with address, contact details and getting an extension stamp in your passport, nope too difficult their systems couldn't handle it. Like you say, the system is pretty straight forward, but think of how much time is lost for us renewing our extensions, I for one have to drive to town the day before, 20 minutes each way, go to the bank for the letter, 20 to 60 minutes with the clerk fumbling to get it across the line, photo shop, come back in 20 to collect, walk to Amphur for updated marriage certificate, up to an hour depending on shoe ques, then back to photo shop, then home 20 minute drive, print off all paperwork for immigration office for the next day then take the hour 20 minute drive, wait, then go through the BS for 45 minutes and drive back home, only to come back a month later to collect it, I mean seriously, a straight through system that is a waste of time. I think if one was allowed to go to any office, provide a bankbook up to date showing the funds in there, their passport and filling in a simple form with current address and contact numbers would be a much smoother system, after all they have all of our details on the system, or do they. I suppose my way would mean tipping their system on the head, imagine what they could do with all their free time, but then again that could be the day when redundancies become fashionable, it's inevitable.
  10. That chart might have excluded it or wasn't up to date, as I read 1,982,000 were arriving in October, with the balance being in first quarter 2022, and of course I would imagine that the Thai Red Cross would take their 1.1 million doses before everyone else who paid for theirs, although I could be wrong, but doubt it.
  11. If you type in Ministry of Public Health Kalassin on Google Maps it comes up at 129 Pihrom Road. When zooming in, I see it's next door to some new government hospital, opposite some strip shops, anyway, you would know the area as you live there.
  12. I got my 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday, they couldn't find me on their system, ask me to look, I said try under my Christian name, and there I was. Later they gave me my vaccination certificate and I noticed that the address was incorrect, I took it back and the lady said, oh my pen rye, someone entered it like that, it is not a problem, your name is correct and it shows you have received two doses of Pfizer. In a weeks time I will go to my local Ministry of Public Health with the vaccine certificate, plus a copy, same with my pink ID and Passport page to apply for a Yellow Vaccination Passport Book so that when I travel I can show that, besides the certificate is in Thai so if I gave that to some immigration officer overseas, I know I would have a problem. Also hope to sort the address thing out too. The above said, you might want to apply for the Yellow Vaccination Passport Book , cost is 50 baht and collection a week later from applying.
  13. We might not be needing a 3rd dose, just keep your ears open and then if needed, can book the 3rd dose as there will be plenty of vaccines available by then, like the annual influenza shots.
  14. Rubbish, the ones vaccinate get a lower viral load 13 times less than those unvaccinated, so what you are saying is no different to someone being asymptomatic right ? So what are the options, get everyone vaccinated to eradicate the virus to as low as it can possibly get because its viral load gets reduced to lower levels therefore it has trouble spreading and making people gravely ill and having less chances of dying. On the other hand I suppose we can not get vaccinated, not wash out hands, not sanitise, not wear masks, not social distance, and let the hospitals get overwhelmed as well as the morgues, I mean what's a life worth, especially if their old, or someone younger who has an immunocompromised immune system, or even pregnant women, why should anyone get vaccinated right, let the thing take everyone out because your suggesting that vaccinated people can still spread the virus, have you ever heard the words, "level of degree", all relative when fighting this virus. Hell of a lot of selfish people out there who probably scream at the sight of a needle. The fact of the matter is yes, we vaccinated can still get infected, but with a smaller viral load as the vaccines take effect as soon as they recognise the virus, keep us out of hospital and of course if we spread any of the load it will be far less than those unvaccinated because the vaccines have started working on the virus as soon as one was infected after being vaccinated. Vaccinate or don't, but don't dry foul when your suffering because there is a hell of a lot of science out there that is telling everyone to get vaccinated, now I wonder why that is, oh I forget, to make big pharma rich right, don't forget your vitamins.
  15. Sometimes words can be construed to tell a different story how it comes across to others. "Although i get where you'r going , people that have been infected with covid and recovered , have a stronger imune system or virus fighting system whatever they call it , then with any vaccine . So you are not 100% right ."
  16. Racism is not something one sees, although actions speak louder than words as they say. My wife even tells me that Thai's don't like farangs, however they tolerate us. We could argue about this for a lifetime, I have never seen racism from Thai's with or without my yellow book, pink ID etc, however I know they tolerate us, I could go on and say some teachers even put us down to their students, noting that both of our daughters have asked why and even one teacher calling our EuroAsian daughter something that should never been said in a school or to a child, this was a private school, and that teacher was removed for his comment when we brought it to the attention of the principal.
  17. Um, sorry to say, not going to happen just yet, maybe look at buying Moderna from the private hospital consortium, that or she will have to get Sinovac followed by AZ which my wife won't take, that said, we paid for Moderna back in June and are hopeful that it arrives and is administered in October, albeit some say half will arrive and the balance in 1st quarter of 2022.
  18. They must have got it from unvaccinated people. Would it have been different if they were vaccinated, I think so, although older with more than one pre-existing condition don't do too well, that said, those older with a healthier immune system tend to survive. I think if we didn't have vaccines today we would all be a much messier situation, i.e. lots more deaths, so the more vaccinated, the lower the impact of the virus until we can get it down to a level of the common Flu or Cold which is a few years away at the moment as they have to concentrate on 3rd world countries getting vaccinated.
  19. Correct, their viral load is 13 times lower than a person who is unvaccinated, but we can try to explain that to those who don't get it till we turn blue, personally, I like being white so I will let them work it out as they will sooner or later.
  20. Would never suggest mandatory vaccinations, however it would be nice for people to see it for what it is.
  21. You don't say, although I do see this as shifting the blame away from Anutin and Prayut for not shutting the country down again. Our neighbour passed away on the 13th and there were hundreds of people for 3 days, wife said, I have to go and help out, I said, nope you don't, your sick and that is the reason your not going. She sent the boy who explained and they all agreed, yes, yes, better not to come out ???? Haven't heard if anyone got anything, but why would I expose the wife and the family to people who want to remain irresponsible, drinking and not wearing masks, fans blaring away. Our neighbour is in our thoughts during this pandemic, but it is what is it and has created enough fear for me to be over protective, that is my right and the wife understands and appreciated my clever idea, although she felt a little guilty which is understandable.
  22. I'm never 100% right. I know this much, of the 13,000 plus people who died in Thailand from 1 April to 9 September 2021 as reported here om Asean Now 84% were unvaccinated, 60% plus that dies were older than 60 years of age. Those above who are gone forever didn't stand a chance as Thailand missed the boat when it came to getting vaccines for the country, thanks to both Anutin and Prayout who should have resigned as no one in their right frame of mind would allow people to travel when Delta broke out, so the sole blame has to be theirs, they own it. The above said, if those above were vaccinated, statistics worldwide show that the death count is and would be down. We all know the vaccines aren't 100% effective, no vaccine is, but it's like taking antibiotics why do you take them when your sick, because you know that they might make you better, and that is the way I see vaccines, they are protection, not only to you, your family and others. If you and others think you can fight Covid and be victorious in being immune or creating super antibodies, that is your choice, I and others see an opportunity here to reduce its viral load and spread through vaccinations which also reduce the deaths. We all have choices, my choice was to get vaxed, your might be to wait and see and if you get it, fight it, that is what choice is all about, but for me, I have done enough research to say to myself, vaccines are the only way out for me, again, it's all about choice.
