flying into dmk air aisa
bamnutsak replied to ba ba's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Arrive PNH early, check in as soon as the desk opens. If denied boaridng then purchase a ticket booking online, it takes a few minutes, get back in line. If you're denied entry (this would likely be due to reasons OTHER than not having an onward ticket) at BKK/DMK, etc. you will be responsible for purchasing a ticket to leave Thailand. The airline you arrived on may not be the airline you depart on, in this circumstance. Personally I'd pony up the $15 for the onward ticket booking, it's "insurance". Thai Imm/security services have scrubbed the manifest, within minutes of the aircraft taking off, for people requiring extra scrutiny on arrival. -
300 baht seems to be a thing now. TAT wants their 300 baht. Soon everyone will want their 300 baht. 300 baht per room per night, regardless of the price of the room? That makes no sense. If anything it should be a percentage. How long would this fee be imposed? Eventually it would go away? Every hotel would collect the 300 baht, and keep it? Or remit it to the government for use in "aiding the industry's recovery"? This would eat into the profit margin on the zero dollar tours. Seems like a lazy idea. Improve the product/experience, then charge more.

FIFA is unlikely to reduce the price, as this will encourage similar behavior in 2026 and beyond. And the countries that already paid full price might demand a refund if Thailand gets a break? If anything FIFA should charge Thailand MORE. Like a last-minute airline ticket. Obviously the money will be found, but the incompetence is, ok, so Thai. Seen some reports that ~ 50 billion baht will be wagered. Seems like the government should get the gambling mafia to pony up the 2% to pay?

I know you're not here in Bangkok, but honeslty it still smells like an open sewer, with hints of rotting food. The canals are still putrid, cesspools, perhaps with a bit less discarded furniture. I haven't smelled weed out in public - I live nearly on top of an "entertainment" zone, where there are at least twelve dispensaries (even those don't emit odors until you go inside) - since 9 June. But don't let stop you from commenting from far, far away.

What is the fair price for premium cannabis in Thailand?
bamnutsak replied to Wuvu2's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
For me, as of today, it's 1,500 THB for an eighth (3.5g), so ~ 430 THB/gram. That's my ceiling. Indoor, Thai grown. Western seed stock. I prefer Sativa-dominant strains Most recent purchase yesterday, 400 baht per gram, for 5 grams. Online order. Amnesia Zkittles, a fantastic sativa-dominant strain. Production costs are quite high here. Dispensaries are at least +100 baht/gram, as they are (for the most part) retailers of product they purchase at the wholesale price (35-40% discount based on volume). I really have no clue on the pricing/distribution model for illegally imported finished flower. IMO, Cannabangka dispensaries (Soi Sathorn 8 is the location I've visited) have the best price/product. Sale on now 420/g, 1,420/3.5 g. Comparing to my home legal state in the U.S., a comparable eighth is $66 ($55, plus 20% total tax - people often forget to add in the tax when quoting U.S. prices), or 2,380 THB, or 680 THB/gram. Comparing prices to black-market, pound-size volumes in the U.S. seems a fruitless endeavor. Production costs in the U.S. are often quoted at $350/lb as of today. -
Putin will not attend the APEC leader’s meeting
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No one really expected him to attend. All that sucking up the Thai diplomatic corpse engaged in was for naught. Hopefully they can cut back on the ultra-security measures a bit. -
I just bought $200,000 of Bitcoin

Tom Brady and ex Giselle Bundschen, Steph Curry, Naomi Osaka and others are probably out a ton of cash on the FTX collapse. Be like Larry... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noekVG8XLQI -
Yes, of course something will be lashed together. The thought of illegally streaming the matches would be a very bad look for the Kingdom. The SAT is trying to negotiate FIFA down to 1.2 b (total) from 1.6 b. So they may only need another 600 m? The fee for the 2018 World Cup was 1.4 b, with the deal settled months before the first match. It was reported that nine companies joined forces to help fund the TV rights: King Power Group, CP, Thai Beverage, Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS), Gulf Energy Development, PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), Bangchak Corporation and Carabao Dang. Not sure Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) should be ponying up cash, they're like 11 b in the hole.

Some reports yesterday that the government is shaking down private industry for the remaining 1.0 billion baht. Of course it's far too late for them to capitalize on the marketing efforts, so not sure how much success they'll have. AIS was rumored to be interested in mobile streaming rights, but just not enough time to put together marketing campaigns, aimed at garnering new subs. Suspect they'll lash something together, make a promise and then get away without paying. Or just paying the 600 m "key money".

Rules for importing weed commercially and for tourists?
bamnutsak replied to Wuvu2's topic in Thailand Cannabis Forum
Because it was illegal (in the country of origin) to EXPORT it from the country of origin. And you need more than an Import License. You need approval from the Thai FDA and then there's the Customs Act of 2560 and the Plant Quarantine Act of 2507. There is a loophole for importing, for approved testing and research, although this process seems somewhat secretive. A powerful person got waylaid trying to pick up a 5 Kg consigment at Suvarnabhumi back in July; that was quickly swept under the carpet. https://newsbeezer.com/thailandeng/customs-have-notified-tom-krue-sophon-of-ordering-cannabis-flower-for-entry-into-the-country/ The sheer volume of imported cannabis, along with extracts, carts, disposables, distillates/shatter/budder, edibles is staggering. No clue how so many are getting this stuff into Thailand in such large quantities. -
Close enough, you're entire post is pure speculation, projection and devoid of actual facts. This is all about politics, and not about Cannabis, with the Dems making their last stand. If the bill is shelved (likely if enough votes can't be whipped), or voted down (unlikely), then the status quo remains with very few "controls" (under 20/pregnant). It's not like Cannabis will be put back on the Narcotics list. If the R.I.P.B. bill is approved then many, many more controls will be put in place - I haven't seen a copy of draft #2 but have seen rumblings (no advertising, no on-line sales without biometric proof of age) - and many agencies will have a say on Cannabis going forward. So if the Dems and medicos were truly concerned about the youth, and the medical drawbacks of Cannabis, then they would be supporting this bill. If the BJT can't whip 215-ish votes then they would withdraw the bill from this session. So if you are concerned about Cannabis misuse and controls you should be supporting the bill.

Well, when you put it like that it sounds simple. And what's with the knock-off Genie in a "box"? Thought they lived in a bottle? Add Cannabis back onto the Narcotics List in Category 5. Re-incarcerate the ~ 4,000 prisoners released. Direct the Police to arrest ~ 1 million Thais involved in the production, distribution and use of Cannabis. Build more prisons. Reimburse those who've invested in the Cannabis business with billions of baht. Misson accomplished.

Another vote for Google Lens as it works on the ubiquitous infographics/cartoons. It also works well to identify information on images, like where is that building in that photo, and where did this chap steal that image.

Transport Minister inspects Suvarnabhumi Airport
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I think most official government attendees will arrive at DMK, and be whisked from the tarmac to their hotels. I assume anyone else, press for example, coming for APEC and arriving at BKK, will be greeted at the gate and get the golf-cart treatment. Meanwhile, authorities have announced quite a few security measures which will impact daily travel in/around central Bangkok Nov 12-19. -
For the previous world cup (2018) I think the broadcast situation was sorted ~ 3 months prior to the first match. Other big football events, (and I'm, not familiar with all the types), and global sporting events may have gone down to the last minute, in some cases during the regime's rule. I think the "government" is trying to coerce some commercial partners to step up and pay. In the event thay don't then the govt will pay. I think AIS would like to get the mobile streaming rights.

I'm surprised this sort of opinion piece is allowed here. Or that it passed any sort of editing process. It looks like the sort of thing a student would contract for on the internet the day before the paper is due. No grade higher than an "F", which is a Thai "B". Thinly-sourced, with cherry-picked "statistics" from single unverified sources. Which agency? Who in that agency? Sales to under 20 are banned. What are the stats for meth and alcohol? Also illegal for under 20. "He pointed out that last year 3% of all Emergency Room (ER) admissions to Thai hospitals were linked to cannabis or marijuana ingestion. That figure, so far, for this year, has risen to 17% or nearly 6 times what it was." I simply do not believe this 17% figure. On the plus side no one has died or suffered permanent disability from indulging in Cannabis. So maybe this is a good thing?
