  1. Statement from Acting Commissioner Dudek about Temporary Restraining Order March 21, 2025 • By Social Security Administration “Today, the Court issued clarifying guidance about the Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) related to DOGE employees and DOGE activities at the Social Security Administration (SSA). Therefore, I am not shutting down the agency. President Trump supports keeping Social Security offices open and getting the right check to the right person at the right time. SSA employees and their work will continue under the TRO.” https://blog.ssa.gov/statement-from-acting-commissioner-dudek-about-temporary-restraining-order/
  2. Correcting the Record About Social Security Direct Deposit and Telephone Services March 12, 2025 • By Social Security Administration If someone needs to change their bank account information on SSA’s record, they will need to either: Use two-factor authentication with SSA’s “my Social Security” service; or Visit a local Social Security office to prove their identity. https://blog.ssa.gov/correcting-the-record-about-social-security-direct-deposit-and-telephone-services/
  3. Social Security Strengthens Identity Proofing Requirements and Expedites Direct Deposit Changes to One Day March 18, 2025 • By Social Security Administration The Social Security Administration (SSA) is taking proactive steps to enhance the security of its services by implementing stronger identity verification procedures. The updated measures will further safeguard Social Security records and benefits against fraudulent activity. Over the next two weeks, SSA will carefully transition to stronger identity proofing procedures for both benefit claims and direct deposit changes. Individuals seeking these services who cannot use their personal my Social Security account, which requires online identity proofing, will then need to visit a local Social Security office to prove their identity in person. At the same time, the agency will expedite processing all direct deposit change requests – both in person and online – to one business day. Prior to this change, online direct deposit changes were held for 30 days. The agency’s two-week transition plan includes training frontline employees and management about the new policy and careful monitoring of policy compliance. At the conclusion of the transition period, on March 31, 2025, SSA will enforce online digital identity proofing and in-person identity proofing. SSA will permit individuals who do not or cannot use the agency’s online my Social Security services to start their claim for benefits on the telephone. However, the claim cannot be completed until the individual’s identity is verified in person. The agency therefore recommends calling to request an in-person appointment to begin and complete the claim in one interaction. Individuals with and without an appointment will need to prove identity before starting a transaction. Individuals who do not or cannot use the agency’s online my Social Security services to change their direct deposit information, can visit a local office to process the change or can call 1-800-772-1213 to schedule an in-person appointment. https://blog.ssa.gov/social-security-strengthens-identity-proofing-requirements-and-expedites-direct-deposit-changes-to-one-day/
  4. I wonder if Tesla was able to sell the Carbon Credits on those vehicles pre-Fire Sale? Tesla’s Carbon Credit Revenue Soars to $2.76 Billion Amid Profit Drop In Q4 2024 alone, Tesla earned $692 million from selling regulatory credits or carbon credits, accounting for nearly 30% of its quarterly net income of $2.33 billion. More impressively, the company’s total carbon credit revenue for 2024 surged to $2.76 billion, marking a 54% year-over-year increase from $1.79 billion in 2023. This substantial boost underscores the ongoing demand for emissions credits as legacy automakers struggle to meet regulatory targets. https://carboncredits.com/teslas-carbon-credit-revenue-soars-to-2-76-billion-amid-profit-drop/
  5. Thanks. Assuming that's the whole "incident" I'm not seeing a big deal here. Thai's claiming some offense on this are reaching, perhaps expressing their dissatisfaction with their "government" in general. Once you're hooked on tourist revenue it's tough to bite that hand.
  6. "Seemingly"? Need more details, obviously, a video would help.
  7. Yikes. And here I thought no PM could be worse than Srettha.
  8. I'm half-expecting to read about some crazy farang taking hostages at their local RD office, demanding that they be allowed to pay their imaginary taxes.
  9. So I'm guessing they won't finish this 30 year project "by the end of this year". Rama II Road expansion on track for completion this year: Suriya Three construction projects should ease traffic congestion on ‘endless highway’ running south from Bangkok The Transport Ministry has expressed confidence that all three ongoing projects on Rama II Road – dubbed the “endless highway” due to constant construction – will be completed by the end of this year. https://www.nationthailand.com/business/economy/40046367
  10. Hold them for 10+ years. Sneak them out at night, in blacked-out trucks. Just weeks after the PM visited China and TikTok pledged to invest 300 billion baht in Thailand.
  11. I would think that the current PM would be at the top of the list? Next up would be Deputy PM Phumtham Wechayachai, and Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong. And Pol Col Tawee and Foreign Affairs Minister Maris Sangiampongsa were part of the decision per Phumtham. Not sure if this affects Diplomatic status?
  12. Taiwanese actress Charlene An paid a "fine" of 27,000 THB in January 2023. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/general/40024459 Last week, I saw a foreign tourist vaping on the BTS platform at Asoke (inbound) side.
  13. Using a web browser, go to wallet.google.com log in if not already logged in go to Payment Methods Do you see your credit card? If not, add it here. Maybe your bank requires some real time authorization? Hence the phone number. I have 2FA and was required to use my FIDO key before I added the second card. I did receive an email from my bank saying that my card was added to Google Pay.
  14. I'd try another (different) SCB ATM to verify the problem. If you still experience issues just stop by a branch to sort it out. My SCB ATM card works fine in SCB ATMs, most recently ~ 12 hours ago.
  15. But is it? I am not married to a Thai. I do not have PR or am I on a path to citizenship. I have temporary permission to stay. I'd say you're comparing apples and refrigerators. Who did this? I think you are projecting, maybe hallucinating. Because the right to voice your opinion and freely assemble for peaceful protest is guaranteed by the Constitution.
  16. Fully up to speed on the relevant DTA. I think you missed the point of my question, which is unrelated to DTAs and quite simple... If I have ZERO assessable income do I have to file a return?
  17. I'd test the assailant for Meth, once the police get him in custody. People caught doing crazy stuff always claim it was cannabis because that is legal. They are not going to admit they were consuming meth or crystal meth.
  18. I have two U.S. Visa credit cards in my Google Wallet, both with virtual card support turned on. I just added the second one in seconds, without having to supply a telephone number. I authorized the card via an email and FIDO key. I use the tap to pay option on my phone for many transactions here. You've installed Google Wallet? Is Google Wallet approved in your home country? Your card has a billing address and you have the ability to accept 2FA? Your card supports tap to pay? Your card supports Google Wallet? Can you describe the steps you're taking in more detail? 1. Add a debit or credit card 1. Add a debit or credit card Open the Google Wallet app . At the bottom, tap Add to Wallet . Tap Payment card. New credit or debit card. Use your camera or tap Enter details manually. At the bottom, tap Save and continue. Read the Issuer Terms and tap Accept. https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/14187107?hl=en-GB&sjid=9843197705877241429-NC Find supported payment methods https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/12059326?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.CountryCode%3DCH&sjid=9843197705877241429-NC Halifax Visa and Mastercard debit and credit Corporate and any non-consumer cards, plus American Express cards
  19. Which section are you saying is applicable? 4. (B) Terrorist activities Any alien who is described in subparagraph (B) or (F) of section 1182(a)(3) of this title is deportable. (C) Foreign policy (i) In general An alien whose presence or activities in the United States the Secretary of State has reasonable ground to believe would have potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States is deportable.
  20. Not charged? Check. Activist = "Serious" threat to national security. That's your "opinion"? Right? Maybe better to try invoking the Alien and Sedition Act of 1798 ( and the Alien Enemies Act )? Last used, to great shame, to incarcerate Japanese-American citizens (among others) during WW2.
  21. Can you expand on this statement? Are you saying that EVERYONE who is tax resident (Thai and non-Thai) MUST file a return, even if they have no Assessible Income? Or does the "under the regulations" potentially relieve that "requirement"?
  22. So the answer to my question is "No"? Please share the "reasons" that a Green Card holder and the spouse of a U.S. citizen can be detained and deported without due process.
  23. So in this case Mr. Khalil is a threat to national security? The "reason" given for this detention and potential deportation seems to change often.
