changing sim card from phone in home country

While it would help to have the exact variant (In Settings), you should be fine. https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/CA/samsung-galaxy-a52s-5g Most major providers probably have coverage. And the lesser-known brands are MVNOs that use the major provider's networks. So again, you'll be fine. -
British man, accused of drug dealing, arrested in Phuket
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Yeah, this is why having his name would allow us to understand the details of the case against him. Was he even charged? And then released on bail? And then did a runner. Or did he figure out he was about to be arrested - maybe others in his crew were being arrested or he got a tip-off - and did a runner. -
This was from the Mark Levin interview. Wow, what a dumpster fire that was. SHilling for Trump's new "book", softball questions, 90 % of the time spent complaining and denigrating his opponent, 10% reliving past fictions, 0% spent on current policies. I loved when Levin inquired about Trump's faith ("You go to church.")...I'm surprised Levin didn't burst into flames. Trump: ‘I’d like to think that God thinks that I’m going to straighten out our country’ “I think you think like, if you believe in God, you believe in God more. And somebody said like, why? And I’d like to think that God thinks that I’m going to straighten out our country,” he said in the interview that aired on Fox News’s “Life, Liberty & Levin.” https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4858345-trump-id-like-to-think-that-god-thinks-that-im-going-to-straighten-out-our-country/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmbnf2fIrAs&pp=ygUbbWFya2UgbGV2aW4gdHJ1bXAgaW50ZXJ2aWV3

British man, accused of drug dealing, arrested in Phuket
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
^ Oh that was him arriving HKT-BKK. He'll have to be processed, legally extradited. I wonder what the flight arrangements are for a chap who has pretty much everything to lose? The only direct, non-stop flight is on TG, I think? Do U.K. LEO fly with him, or Thai LEO? -
Kennedy gives Swing voters a clear choice, Trump
bamnutsak replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
RFK Jr. is struggling to get himself OFF the ballot, after so strenuously trying to get himself ON the ballot. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fought to get onto NC’s ballot. Now he can’t get off. https://ncnewsline.com/briefs/robert-f-kennedy-jr-fought-to-get-onto-ncs-ballot-now-he-cant-get-off/ Timothy Mellon blew a wad, $25 Million, on this clown. Does anyone think that any remaining undecided voters either understand what these terms mean or really think VP Harris is one or all of these things? Trump often comes across as something created from DNA found in amber created in the 1970's. IMO he should stick with one name, one pejorative and one catch(y) phrase. Example: "Hilary", "Crooked", "Crooked Hilary" and "Lock her up."

British man, accused of drug dealing, arrested in Phuket
bamnutsak replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
How about his full name? It sounds like he was already deported/extradited? Mr. Ben, a 28-year-old British national, a drug trafficking suspect in the UK who was arrested in Phuket Province, has been transferred to Suvarnabhumi Airport for interrogation and preparation for extradition back to the UK on September 2, 2024.... อ่านข่าวต้นฉบับได้ที่ : https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/crime-crime/2024/09/02/british-fugitive-flees-uk-found-to-be-boxer-in-phuket-luxury/ https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/crime-crime/2024/09/02/british-fugitive-flees-uk-found-to-be-boxer-in-phuket-luxury/ No checked baggage I guess? -
changing sim card from phone in home country
bamnutsak replied to Pouatchee's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I dpn't think this is accurate. AFAIK you can BYOD (bring your own device). Obviously there are some potential frequncy-supported issues. You have a phone here, in Thailand? It works with a local Thai SIM? If so it is unlocked. (You could get a DTAC/True/AIS data roaming package to get you over the hump on arrival.) What is the make and model of your Samsung phone? https://www.comparecellular.ca/compare-plans-in-quebec/byod/ https://www.comparecellular.ca/compare-plans-in-quebec/prepaid-phones-and-sim-cards/ -
Note that unless you enable WiFi Calling (done from the UltraMobile Dashboard <PC>, or their mobile app) AND have a capable/compatible device (verify now while in the U.S.), you will NOT be able to make/receive calls or texts from Thailand UNLESS you purchase International credit(s)... $5 INTL Call Credit each month $5 INTL Roaming Credit (one-time) https://www.ultramobile.com/product/10gb-prepaid-plan/?srsltid=AfmBOoqs_7jd5wyZsfFxFvF9I4WljzWoObVVDZAzWA1Zygg6WXu02Rdl This SIM/plan, while good for the U.S. may be overkill for your Thai-centric application requirements. Again, I'd recommend getting (And activating while in the U.S.) ANOTHER UM (PAYG) SIM, for $13 and $3 month. Then get (another?) Google Voice number on that PAYG SIM number. https://www.ebay.com/itm/285112988423 ...if only as a backup.

Yes, the LINE desktop app offers full functionality - chat/"text", audio and video. But you need a mobile smartphone and a SIM/number to register for AND log in to the desktop app. But you'll need a shopping cart and an extra long extension cord for your desktop to match the phone's "portability, mobility, and flexibility".

Trump claims Zuckerberg plotted against him during the 2020 election in soon-to-be released book Former President Donald Trump writes in a new book set to be published next week that Mark Zuckerberg plotted against him during the 2020 election and said the Meta chief executive would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he did it again. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/28/trump-zuckerberg-election-book-00176639 No pressure there. Justices side with Biden over government’s influence on social media content moderation The Supreme Court on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit seeking to limit the government’s ability to communicate with social media companies about their content moderation policies. By a vote of 6-3, the court ruled that that the plaintiffs did not have a legal right, known as standing, to bring their lawsuit. Writing for the majority, Justice Amy Coney Barrett cited the lack of any “concrete link” between the restrictions that the plaintiffs complained of and the conduct of government officials – and in any event, she concluded, a court order blocking communication between government officials and social media companies likely would not have any effect on decision-making by those platforms, which can continue to enforce their policies. https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/06/justices-side-with-biden-over-governments-influence-on-social-media-content-moderation/ Zuckerberg’s Letter to Jordan: Headline Grabbing, Legally Insignificant While some Republicans lawmakers are making political hay out of Zuckerberg’s letter, did he say anything that might have moved the legal needle in favor of the plaintiffs’ First Amendment case against the government over such jawboning pressure in Murthy v. Missouri? The Wall Street Journal’s James Freeman suggested the answer might be yes, opining that Zuckerberg now could be just the right person to “mount a new court challenge against the Biden-Harris administration.” https://www.aei.org/technology-and-innovation/zuckerbergs-letter-to-jordan-headline-grabbing-legally-insignificant/ Zuckerberg's letter: https://wsvn.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2024/08/Zuckerberg-letter-3.pdf

Have two UltraMobile SIMs/numbers. Both work fine. I use the $3/month PAYG option. I use WiFi Calling. As you are in the U.S. it might be wise to get another UltraMobile PAYG SIM ($13 on eBay), activate it, sign up for a (another) Google Voice number with that new UMPAYG SIM number.

Harris-Walz southern Georgia bus tour highly successful
bamnutsak replied to Gecko123's topic in Political Soapbox
Yes, I'm chuckling imagining Trump and Vance on a bus tour of Southern Georgia, interacting with real people. -
And you have to add into the mix all the motivated, newly-registered, young, first-time voters who, in many states, will also be voting on both Reproductive Rights and Cannabis ballot initiatives. These will drive voters to the polls in record volumes. In Florida, they have BOTH. And the down-ballot effects may be impactful. The "TRENDS" in the polls are probably the only important thing to note now. No one thinks a general election poll means anything today re: the presidency.

First off, respect is earned. And we respect people, individuals, and not a voting bloc. Obviously, the majority, ~90 % of trump voters are decent folks, who start off with a very high level of respect from me. Most understand that white, working-class citizens have found themselves in challenging situations over he past ~ 50 years. I dispute Mr. Kristof's tired trope about this segment of the population being "demonized" because they support Trump. And he seems to be dismissing racial and gender inequality quite cavalierly, implying that these have distracted us from addressing class issues. We haven't really "solved" the former, so no reason to expect we can solve the latter. I'm not sure how much Trump 45, or Republican Senators/Congresspeople, red state governors/legislatures have done to help this class to date?
