Years ago, before Central on beach road (soi 9) opened the one on second road between North and Central , (the one with Big C) used to be called Central Festival

Since the beach road one opened, they move the name to called the beach road one(with the Hilton hotel 'Central Festival' now

Now after renovations, the old 2nd road is relaunched with the name 'Central Marina'

Nothing on 2nd road? 

Coming down from North/Jomtien, looks like a change and Klang unless you want a detour up to Sukhumvit

Going back up north means 3rd road, with a whole stretch of 2nd road and north road unserviced? (okay there's the 7 that comes down on North road from Suk, but that change at 3rd/North could mean a long wait and if there are going queues of empty bus on the road there... as drastic change to traffic landscape 

There really ought to be a smaller circle along 2nd and beach road with all change at central road junction if they want to make more money... with all the destinations along 2nd road and upcoming Terminal 21, the area looks under served.

Unless it's back to the old ways in a couple of weeks

On the 'old' sign on the side of the bus the one I always see seem to be the one from Charoenratpattana Village (Whereever that is) to Na Jomtien

Wasn't there something in the news about the drivers being told not to do private hire as they're not licenced as taxi? they might try to make it up by putting up price somhow

Interesting, Yayoi, although a Japanese chain, in Thailand it is run by the MK group and my impression is that the price is cheaper and the aim for clientele is below that of Fuji's 

Teishoku just means 'set menu' 

Not that they wouldn't try to take it slightly upmarket of course,

Even the MK hot pot restaurants have differing levels of service like MK Gold which is supposed to be posh

Taxis/Songtaew are gonna make a killing if people keep confusing and calling this 'old' Central "Ocean Marina'

A lot of Malaysians do drive over to Hat Yai and beyond over the weekends and their bank Holidays, a lot more than a couple of times a year, Without this exemption there'll be a significant hit to tourism, so it looks like those who put up the rule knows what they're doing.

Recently in the news a couple of Bangkok lawyers almost took a restaurant to court about the service charge, after much negotiations with consumer protections (yes they exist) the edict is that unless the restaurant has a visible sign somewhere or in the menus stating that they charge 10% service charge or whatever, you can refuse to pay the charge, so now even in big chains restaurants like Fuji, there are now hastily made sign up near the entrance about the 10%

Still, In most place with a manager worth their keep, if you get worked up and complain loud enough they'd probably waive the service charge 

I'm sure if they made the increase a couple of bahts to 13-16 bahts other people would complain that it's not a round number and having exact change is difficult 

Came from Bangkok this morning and the Tunnel is open! 

(probably only temporarily)

They are doing some works on the topside on the southbound suk, so they make a detour and herded traffic down into the tunnel, giving us a look at the progress... I must say compared to the underpasses I'd experienced in Bangkok, this tunnel is unexpectedly long!

Saphan Pla, means "fish bridge". There are several located around the country .

A fish bridge is a structure built out to sea.. 

some even call the Bali Hai pier สะพานปลา too

Most of the many piers in Rayong that goes to Koh Samed seem to refer to themselves as สะพาน

ท่า is literally port

Airport ท่าอากาศยาน

 ท่ารถทัวร์ coach terminal

But that's being pedantic using both ท่า or สะพาน is understood

But looks like it's the one down town in Huahin is the one that's being used by fishing boats... not exactly equipped as passenger terminal compared to Bali Hai on Pattaya side

A car ferry makes sense... if they can get the price right... right now I can drive to HuaHin from Pattaya in about 5-6 hours with stops for about 1000 baht in diesel... If I can shave of 3-4 hours for about 2000-3000 baht for the car and my whole family, I'd gladly pay for it Okay maybe about 2000 baht for the car and maybe 50-100 baht for extra passengers in the car is reasonable 

Anything more than that I'd give it  a pass, and I'd only be doing these trips 2-3 times a year only

But a passenger ferry, dropping passengers into Huahin means limited onward connections when the coach from Bangkok that do make stops in Huahin might be full 

A coach from Pattaya to Samui that does stop in Hua Hin  is quite empty most days already

At the price that they'll be charging, if the number of passengers do add up, a flight from Utapao to Huahin could materialize in no time 

Right now flights from Utapao to Samui or Phuket is around 5-8000 baht....  

Looks like it's not her stall that's blocking this man's driveway but her customers parking that is....

Imagine coming home late at night and having to go out and ask the people in the stalls to please kindly move their cars so you could park inside your driveway

Red is the route of free transport busses from various parking area around town like schools and temples 

Starts around 5 PM

Road closed from 2nd road down, North to South

Shuttle bus service from parking area in an empty land on Sukhumvit near Hwy36 and from Bangkok

Expect car parks around town like Tesco in North road etc to be packed 

Also, with the mass of crowds of Thai do-gooders from Bangkok and all over the country lining beach road... maybe the seedier businesses along the side sois could be asked to close or tone it down?

The organizers have made arrangements for parking around and out of town parking and shuttle bus service.. and even free transport from Bangkok bud judging by how well publicize this 'event' is like I'm only finding out about it now is not hopeful. So join in or avoid as appropriate

Looks like the event is spearheaded by the hotelier association, with city hall taking a back seat, interesting note is that they say during the event the bay will be lined with thousands of speedboat(that was just evicted from Bali Hai?)

New and 'unusual' place for large size clothing

Decathlon sporting goods store just opened in Tesco North Pattaya

Although a sports store, they have some pants and shirts in their outdoors range that's quite suitable for casual wear

Being a French brand, although most of their clothes are made in Asia like Vietnam and Bangladesh

their size is more generous than most Thai brands, XL is huge and it goes up to 4-5XL in some case

So someone on a holiday with a visitor visa taking a phone call from work back home could be in breach of their visa conditions? 

So if the work someone do is in employ of an overseas business, wouldn't a business visa be more appropriate 
 

Visiting businessman on trips for their company back home do get non-immigrant B but no need for work permit is that correct?

Why aren't there 'connected' entrepreneurs renting out pants and shirts just outside the gate? you see them at temples renting out sarong and shirts to cover up

Are there really any requirement for the estate to transfer the property away from the deceased's name within one year? 

I've seen Thais who inherited land/house and keep it in their dead parent's name for a long time until he sold it.

If you or your son is appointed the executor of the estate, you could keep the deed in your wife's name

The pink ID card is Alien card intended to be issued to foreign workers like Burmese and Cambodians that don't have passport and work permit, these cards have very restrictive conditions they'd have conditions listing the employer, and area they're supposed to be working in and can't travel outside designated area without prior notification T.M.30 not withstanding

Does the pink ID card issued to westerners / retiree / permanent residence that's supposed to come with being listed in the yellow book have similar restrictions? 

Of course the Thai nationals ID card has no such restriction regarding the rights to travel and/or reporting change of domicile
