I'll add this here albeit not strictly related to thread When I arrived after long absence from Thailand over three and half years first port of call was the Bank Firstly to get new Debit card because they had changed to 6 digit pin. Secondly to update the passbook (not strictly required but might as well do it) and thirdly new passport details First and second points easily sorted plus 100 Baht for new debit card etc However the initial passport update was a slight problem. In short they wanted to see the old one to compare photographs etc. I like many people (but not all) destroy old passports once expired. Clearly I couldnt produce it I had to answer a hoard of questions until they were satisfied it was indeed me. It could be because there was a fair bit in the account well into 6 figures (not massive but more than normal) and they wanted to be assured in their own minds.....good 20 minutes before they were happy So in short keep your old passports !! SCB it was

Wise (TransferWise) Verification
Chivas replied to connda's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Dont use smartphones when doing this......its been asking me for at least a year if I click on top left hand icon that has red dot on it (yes I could just satisfy them I acknowledge) Use full desktop website and you wont get asked at all no matter what amount......it authenticates you by actually pinging the mobile app for you to confirm "yes this is me" Its the security angle that companies like Wise dont like with phone apps One transfer I did recently was for £2450 so well in excess of this "suggested" 50,000 baht limit....it was going to SCB I might add Was there in 9 seconds -
No matter if Thai UK or wherever "bundled" or "free" travel insurance via Banks are not worth the paper they are written on literally I worked for 6 years in insurance 80's and 90's and bundled "cover" was the subject of complaint after complaint Reading an article recently nothing has changed whatsoever

OP...here i liked the place because prices clearly displayed...am sure you could still knock some Baht off but you've got a clear starting point The prices of bags though in Big C was literally obscene when I went looking few days ago
-
Astonishing coincidence Literally only last night I walked from Top Soi 7 heading towards Diana. For my own reasons I wanted exactly what you're looking for and found a shop on right hand side before we reach Central Festival I'd had few sherbets so took a photo to remind me where it was !! Its mainly a shoe shop but on left hand side of photo they have a decent selection of the soft carry on bags but also the price is clearly marked and were cheap I'd imagine exactly what you wanted because was exactly what I want as well Am having wifi problems in Hotel......Will upload photo later OP (if I forget just remind me) but you cant miss it if you take a walk up there

Whoever added the laughing Emoji kindly let all board members know how you get on should your thai account be hacked My Halifax UK card was in the Kasikorn machine that was opposite Alcazar in 2015.....fortunately as I do with Chase all the main monies are in a side account and they were with the Halifax so the cloned card only ended up with £86 when it hit the account balance I was literally on the way home at the time and it was no biggie and Halifax reinstated within 24 hours Now imagine 250,000 Baht has just disappeared from your Thai account and think of whats coming thereafter as you walk into your branch to start the process The questions will start and the opening one will be "who was staying with you" at which point you know nothing is being rectified
-
Call me wise (no pun intended) but I would never use my Thai debit card from SCB in an ATM machine anywhere... Never !! You get your account hacked card cloned whatever and find your account balance at zero one day then welcome to a world of issues about reinstatement This aint the USA or UK If I want 25.000 or whatever I'll walk to the branch and go inside (not practical for everyone I acknowledge)

Out of interest I used my Wise Debit Card today for the first time in Pattaya. Money was already sat in Baht within the account so cant really say what exchange rate was applied I'd use Chase out of choice on purchases as its the flat Mastercard rate with no premium or loading but obviously never in an ATM machine with a 220 Baht charge

Not bothered about the cost to be honest. Will check out PIA Thanks

Thanks indeed

Right just tried watching UK soap again... Stopped 4 times during half hour Strangely as per last week there are no adverts either before the show starts or halfway through The programme starts straight off and when ad break comes soap name appears as normal then 1 second later appears again and restarts If anyone is within the UK that has surfshark can you just click on a UK isp and then see if a programme runs normally ??......it shoudnt make a difference I agree but I suspect it will run normally This is a pain because the Chivas programme of the year in the Jungle starts soon lol and will be unwatchable....I may have to go home its that serious
-
Yes I get and understand that. However is immigration or the agent doing it for me (I saw the immigration line last week and thought bollacks to that lol) expecting to see my proof for example the screenshot ?? I dont want to be at home to Mr Co** up on this one lol

Despite a trip count a long way into 3 figures I have never stayed longer than hard up against the 60 days Tourist Visa Thats about to change and I will probably need to do an extension Now from what I understand the Hotel or landlord need to submit these documents. Currently I'm in the 3rd place of stay so clearly 3 should have been completed to date From what I read when you go for an extension if those documents were not completed a fine falls on the applicant ?? So how can we/I be sure they've been completed properly ??
-
Only what I had read several years ago. The broadcastors will insert "something" into the live feeds which makes the stream drop off Obviously intended to make people subscribe properly in the first place (fair enough)

Whilst not Grab I acknowledge I use Bolt on a regular basis and shocked how low the prices are at times

E Visa from UK not working
Chivas replied to liddelljohn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yep I had similar minor issues with London website Once I turned everything into PDF and uploaded "something" on every question it sailed through -
In a way I'm glad its not just me.
-
Yep thats what comes up if you do actually get a programme running in the first place every 5 minutes or so
-
Is anyone else getting "interuptions" every 4-5 minutes no matter what programme you are watching ?? No matter what ISP i click on for the UK it happens. I've tried 3 Browsers...Speed is fast (20 down plus) so clearly not a speed issue The complete loss of TvMucho is becoming a pain to say the least I could subscribe to another VPN but could well be the same. ITV have likely sussed it and throw in a "disruptor" into the stream bit like Sky Sports often do on EPL matches to stop the stream I can refresh normally takes 3 or 4 efforts and it'll pick up where it left off. Its "ok" on half hour programmes but films via ITVX are just not worth it currently

Open a Thai bank account on tourist visa
Chivas replied to qwab32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I've said this many times in the past but always worth repeating If you've already got an account dont let it be closed accidentally from inactivity or in most cases when the balance falls below the annual debit card fee because as per thread its not easy to open a new one Happened to me in the 90's but back then easy to open another. Not any more
