  1. You know Chevy will not be selling autos in Thailand next year.  It sold its property here to a Chinese company.

I don't know what if any service you will be getting from Chevrolet in the future.

That said.  40front/60sides is the legal limit.  Me personally the highest I would do is 60% all around.  I have a vehicle that, at my wife's insistence, is 60/80.  In the daytime it is great.  But at night the side windows are too dark.  It does not make me feel safe driving at night.  I sometimes have to roll the windows down to see better.

Whether you can update the bank book depends on the particular bank and type of account.  For example only, a fixed term account at Siam Commercial bank (an account that accrues interest for a set period of time although you can access the funds earlier with a loss of accrued interest) cannot be updated regardless if you or the bank sticks the bank book in the update machine.  That type of SCB account is what I've been using for the annual extension (800k method) for almost 10 years here in Chiangmai and never has the bank book been updated (as it can't be) or has an immigration officer questioned it.

Sure it can.  For one thing the interest payment will show up as an update.  You can also deposit or take out a small amount to get an update.

What are the seasoning requirements on the 800k THB?  Does the $25k have to stay there a certain amount of time?  Could I deposit it 3 months before applying and remove it soon after?

If you are just talking about getting the visa in the US the money does not have to be in a Thai bank.  You can use the money in your US bank to qualify.

Also you don't need to get the Visa every year.  As long as the visa date has not expired you can leave Thailand then enter again and get another year entry permission.  So you can almost make it 2 years to have to reapply for the visa in the US again.

As far as medical insurance I would check out Pacific Cross plans.  They have several plans that work for the O-A visa.  You could look at getting one of the cheaper plans and max out the deductible to make it as cheap as possible if you plan on keep your existing insurance.

  4. Civic Horizon is a nice hotel.  Breakfast buffet is mediocre though.  It is mostly Japanese clients.  Rooms have a little kitchen area with sink, microwave, a few dishes.

About a 2 minute walk from BTS station.  But if you are worried about getting sick you probably wouldn't be using it.

For the most part the fear of this virus is overblown.  Regular influenza still kills more people and people aren't going around in a panic because of it.

  5. I needed it in Ratchaburi for my O-A retirement extension.  The certificate makes it easier for them to see if you meet the requirements compared to them having to read through your policy and decipher it.  Keep it simple for them.

Pacific Cross emailed a certificate to print out and also said they had uploaded it to immigration.  So you would think they would already have the information.  But they still wanted proof at the office.

  6. I have an Everest Titanium+ but not 4WD.  I like it a lot.  Lots of technology.  Good acceleration and good mileage for the size of the vehicle.  I get about 900KM on a full tank(80 liters).  The steering on it doesn't feel as tight as my Raptor.  And one thing that bothers me a little is that you have to turn recirculate air on every time you start it if Air is on auto setting.  Every time I see a big billow of black smoke ahead of me I look down to see if I remembered to turn it on.

I have not owned any of the others so I can't make a comparison.

  7. Currently you have to keep the 800K for 2 months before and 3 months after you apply for the extension(then keep 400K for the rest of the year).  I would keep the current account until the 3 months after has passed and then close and open a new one.

The first few years I moved here Ratchaburi had no immigration office, you had to go to Nakhon Pathom.  My bank account was in Ratchaburi but I would go to the SCB close to Nakhon Pathom immigration to get the letter.  I never had a problem doing that.
