Initial investigations show that the pregnant woman came out of a gas station and rode into the path of the oncoming car that was driving quite normally.
Please define "driving quite normally"

I would imagine that if the Thai government see lots of people moving from O-A to O that there will soon be a change to the law requiring insurance for the O too. You already see talk of requiring insurance for everyone that enters Thailand.

I got one a couple of weeks ago. I live in Ratchaburi. So it has to be higher up the chain than just one of the local offices.

“We haven’t yet experienced recession, but we’re on the verge of it if we look at quarter-on-quarter growth of 0.1 per cent in the third quarter, the positive result coming from the downward revision for growth in the second,” said Kobsidthi.
See. They will never show negative growth because they will just revise it before the next announcement.

If you are not afraid to drive a motorcycle here I don't know why you would be afraid to drive a car.

When we bought our car the dealer recommended 60 % sides and 40 % front/rear.
that is also what is legal in Thailand but of course most go darker and the law is never enforced. 80% on the sides is fine in the day but at night it is too dark for safety. You will find yourself opening the windows to see better at times with 80%. 60% on the front seems ok to me, no problem seeing at night.

The Visa was issued in Oz on the 14 February 2019
That's great. It will give me plenty of time to get organised.
I have travel insurance that is valid for 12 months.
It's a great policy issued by Woolworths - considering I'm already 74.
Only catch is you have to renew it in OZ.
That insurance will not be accepted when you apply for an extension of stay. It must be one of the listed ones only. Also considering your age I recommend you apply immediately for one of them. The latest cut off age I have seen to apply is 75.

Let us use a complicated solution to a simple problem to make it seem like we are technologically advanced.

The only investing I would do in Thailand is a fixed account or CD.
I opened a Charles Schwab International account. The only minuses to it are you have to have $25,000 US dollars to open it and lots of paperwork to fill out for applying.
Normal broker transactions are fee free now. Buy and sell stocks, etfs, reits at will without worrying about fees lowering your returns.
The Charles Schwab Debit card is one of the best, if not the best available. You don't get it automatically by opening an account. Tell them you want one and a simple form to fill out. But you can use it at ATM's world wide with no fee, no foreign transaction charge, plus they rebate most fees charged by the ATM bank, like the 220 baht fee for Thai banks, unlimited. The one thing a little weird about it is you can withdraw $1,000 per day but only $500 per transaction. So to get $1000 you have to do 2 withdrawals. But hey you get the fees back and Visa exchange rate which is pretty close to the mid range you see when you look up exchange rates.
Also you can do international wires with them for a $25 fee.

The Mahanakhon skybar is now the highest one. 76-77th floors. I imagine it is expensive too.
I haven't been there since it opened.

I saw a YouTube clip where somebody paid 1000 baht for a small bottle of beer at the Lebua Sky Bar. Ouch!!!!
At Vertigo a small Singha was 300 baht. I thought that was overpriced.

From various international news media outlets, this is the latest during a test of its so-called armored glass windows, which went horribly wrong during a public demonstration when rocks were thrown at it - loss of face for Elon Musk!

Those that are already having problems meeting the financial requirements will be in trouble with the insurance requirement. So the answer is a combination of both.
Maybe agents will be able to help with both??? Never used one myself.

If you can find it a non-toxic solution is to use food grade diatomaceous earth (DE). You can look it up about using it. I have used vitacost to order some, it's in the pet section.
You can also look on lazada for camarcio dust mite killer. I have no idea how effective it is though. You attach it to a vacuum.
Or perhaps look for a herbal spray.
I would use poison on my stuff as a last resort.

If you obtain a new O-A visa at home, you will be subject to the new law requiring you to purchase Thai health insurance. Went into effect on 31 October. It's suboptimal insurance and overpriced.
But to answer your question, yes, you should be able to obtain a new O-A visa using the income method.
Thank you. And yes I knew about the health insurance. But not that it is overpriced and suboptimal. Thanks for that info.
When applying for an O-A in your home country you can use your existing insurance if the insurance company will fill out the required form. If you do not have insurance already you might as well get one of the approved ones because when you go to extend they are the only ones accepted. Pacific Cross has several different plans that are approved for extensions, not just the longstay version they offer. Where it says maximum coverage that is per disability per year, not just a per year total.
