  1. However, if you are leaving and never intend returning there is no chance of your failure to report having any adverse outcome.

    * If you are leaving for good there is no need to report.

That seems bad advice to me. You can never say never. Imagine his friends of family decide a trip in Thailand in 10 or 20 years. Computers never forget. I am not sure it will be fun to start the trip with a visit to the airport immigration office to pay a 5'000 (?) baht fine...

Any problem would belong to the OP not the family or friends!

Is the "computer" aware of all the OP's family and friends?

  2. Back on topic, you guys forgot extra voluntary work.

    A/ Contributing to Thailand

    B/ Giving you a visa

    C/ Escaping capitalism

    That could be a possibility...

If you or anyone else wishes to "escape" Capitalism you should head for Vietnam, Laos, or the Indian State of Kerala . All places where the Red Flag flies.

  3. You should check Singapore's requirements more carefully !

In Singapore, METV are only available for residents so there is no point of going there in the first place.

Provide a link which proves that assertion.

  4. The Thai embassy in Rome has just announced the new METV. Two of the conditions (based on TV member translations) are:

    • 6,000 euros in the bank (approx 240k thb).
    • Proof of a job.

And they are dropping the 2 and 3 entry TR's.

IF conditions like that are imposed across the world it will have a big impact.

It's always been the case that in Vientiane you may asked to show 'proof of income'. Money coming in from overseas on a regular basis to prove one is not working in Thailand.

Anyway the word 'income' there and 'job' on the Rome embassy website are most likely just synonymous with 'money in your account'. We also know consultates rarely get the he details right, or

You're clutching at straws with nothing to go on other than 'working is working' in the Alien Labor act. These threads have been going on for years, and digital nomads are still here.

We all know consulates' websites are less than reliable. The Singapore website doesn't mention anything like that:

  5. They want the TM30 filled out by your apartment and a copy of the house book and ID of the person listed in the house book as house-master.

It is something that has been asked for at some offices since at least 2014. More common with marriage extensions but becoming required at some offices for retirement extensions too. It's nothing new due to the Bangkok bombing but maybe more offices will ask for it due to heightened security.

In Phuket this all started some time ago with a "crackdown" on small hotels and guest houses who were failing to report (as required by law) the presence of visitors.

Immigration began in , if I remember correctly, Jan 2015 requiring those on extensions to provide TM30's etc.

Definitely nothing to do with bombs!

  6. First, sorry about my english.

My question is not about getting visa or extension. My question is if i have single entry visa(3 months) , and i stay 1 year with this visa(with extensions) , and if i have to show that i live in thailand 1 year officially , is it okay?

Im asking because if have multi entry visa(1 year) and stay more than 1 year with extensions its counting only 1 year cos have 1 year visa.

    Anybody know something about that?

    Thanks for replies.

"I got non-o single entry visa and im planning to do every 60days extend at chaeng wattana like i have done before my ed visa."

    You cannot do this!

If married to a Thai you can apply for ONE 60 day extension.

You will then either have to........

    1. Apply for a 12 month "extension of stay based on marriage".

    OR

    2. Leave the country and apply for another visa at a Thai Embassy/Consulate.

  7. First of all thanks a lot for the replies,

I got a little bit confused with the extension of the marriage , if I can show income of 40000 per month that means I can work? Or still because its an extension of a tourist I still can't work?

By working I mean of course at the shop

You can only work if a job meets the requirements for a Work Permit (see post 4) .

It is unlikely that you will get a Work Permit to work in the sho+p.

  8. A triple entry tourist visa will provide almost 9 months in Thailand.

Once that visa has expired another tourist visa can be obtained from a Thai Embassy/Consulate in a nearby country but most will not issue triple entry visas.

Many of the Embassies/Consulates will limit the number of Tourist visas they will issue back to back.

Probably the best place to get a visa would be Vientiane in Laos.

  9. if we get married, need only to have 400000 baht or 40000 income per month and I get visa every year without going out?

and what about baby ? (just to know haha )

If married you will not get a visa every year without going out!

What can be obtained is an "extension of stay based on marriage" (it is not a visa)

To obtain the extension you would first need (with your marriage documentation) to obtain a single entry "O" visa from a nearby Thai Embassy/Consulate. This visa will allow a 90 day stay. During the last 30 days of that stay you could apply for the extension which is renewable yearly if you can meet the financial. and other requirements.

  10. There are no 30 day tourist visas or 60 day extensions of such.

You most likely entered the country with a visa exempt entry (it is not a "visa") which provided a 30 day stay.

To extend this stay by 30 days you need .............

    Passport.

Copies of the passport data page, entry stamp and departure card.

    A passport photo

A completed application TM7 form and the 1900 Bht fee.

Some immigration offices will ask for proof of address.

  11. I very much doubt that hotel receptionists are interested in or know anything about 90 day reports.

Strictly speaking you should make the report, there is no "grace period" just a window of time during which the report can be made.

However, if you are leaving and never intend returning there is no chance of your failure to report having any adverse outcome.

    Edit.

if the 90 day report slip is not in the passport no one can see it.

  12. 6,000 Euros. Wow! thats 240k thb

We may see criteria for the new METV vary between embassies and consulates, but I wouldn't be surprised if they all, at least, drop the triple entry.

    Which equals some 40,000/month.

Accommodation, food, transport etc. could easily cost that !

It will be interesting to see what conditions other Thai Embassies impose as conditions for issuing the METV

i would agree that the triple entry TV is likely to be dropped.

  13. Reports suggest the 30-day visa exempt border runs are back on at all border crossings.

Some are suggesting they are now limited to 3x a calendar year, i.e. 90 days.

As far as I know the 90 days is only for the crossings that were not allowing them at for a while.

It seems the Lao crossings are not putting the restrictions in place for Laotians or anybody else.

Yes, but this (if confirmed and enforced) will have serious effects on Laotians who do monthly border runs from Pattaya to Cambodia, in order to stay "legal".

Do the visa exempt entries obtained by Laotians allow them to legally work?
