    • Time to spend some of the useless military budget on protecting the citizens of Thailand, spend it on health, try and eradicate this desease.

Perhaps you should tell them how to eradicate this disease.

    It affects many countries .........

    http://phil.cdc.gov/PHIL_Images/08051999/00004/dengue_phf/sld013.htm

Perhaps , after you have informed the Thai Authorities how this disease can be eradicated, you will share your expertise and knowledge with the experts at the World Health Organisation and also those at the Center for Disease Control would love to know how Dengue can be eradicated

    show them this article

That is just one of many such attempts at controlling both malaria and dengue by the use of "modified" mosquitoes.

Short term success needs to be demonstrated to have a long term benefit. That long term benefit has never been achieved.

Work on vaccines active against dengue and malaria continue

  1. I am sure the Lady is a nice person.

She was railroaded into a position which she was not qualified to hold and followed orders.

Unfortunately "following orders" is not a good defense for malfeasance committed whilst holding the position of PM.

It is time for the Lady to accept personal responsibility for her actions.

  2. Can the one-year extension be extended for a second year, or does one have to start the whole process all over again?

And one more question: who can be a "dependent"? Can an elderly, wheelchair-bound parent qualify as a dependent? Or does one have to transfer 800.000 Baht into Thailand for the parent as well?...

1.Extensions of stay can be renewed if the conditions are met.

    2. Possibly but you will need to consider the wisdom of moving such a Person to Thailand and ensure that they had adequate medical insurance ..........heath care is not cheap.

  3. BeefSlapper

"Mind I got my new ED (now from Walen)
And its 9 months in total.
    6 months + 3

    Its my 2nd one.

My first one lasted 15 months 12+3"

Where were these "Visas" obtained ?

    1. There is no 6 month Ed visa

2, 12 month Ed visas are not obtainable in the region.

You I believe have never had more than a single entry 90 day Ed visa which was cancelled when you entered the country.

Perhaps Walen should include some basic education in his courses about the difference between "visas" and "extensions of stay"

  4. will need to take the wife, copy of marriage, and her house book and id card, about 7 - 14 days before expiry

Thanks Steve...you mean to immigration chaeng wattana, before the end of the 15 months for a 2 month extension right...giving me a total of nearly 17 months.

    Yes.

    • Enter as close to the expiry date ('enter before") of the visa. You'll be granted 90 days.
    • Towards the end of the 90 days (within the last couple of weeks) you can go to your local immigration office and apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife.
    • You need; Your wife, original marriage certificate and copy, copy of wife's house book, copy of wife's ID. No financial proof needed.
    • It doesn't matter how early you apply as the extension will start at the end of the 90 days.
    • You can apply for this 90 day extension, once, on any 90 day entry.

Got it....except the last line...you mean a 60 day extension? And will they not grant it if my mrs is not with me?

A typo 60 days was intended.

No wife no extension ! Your wife must accompany you if you want the 60 day extension.

  5. Why nobody speaks abput the ED Visa? I never applied for one. So it could be just another option.

Yes, ED visa for a long stay could be an option.

Do not go overboard Macwalen !

An Ed visa obtained within the region allows an entry limited to 90 days.

Any further stay is dependent on Immigration providing extensions of stay .

Time in Thailand is limited to a max stay of one year or less depending on the number of hours "tuition" booked.

I am sure you will correct any of my misunderstandings.

    • Yes. You will be given 90 days giving you nearly 15 months.
    • If you are married of have a Thai child you can also extend that last 90 day stay by 60 days at immigration for 1,900 baht giving you nearly 17 months,

Wow, so let me understand this. Before the end of the last 3 month extension, ie, nearly 15 months into the visa I can extend for a further 2 months at immigration? Do I need the wife with me or to show funds for this? Do Vientianne border officials require a show of funds to get the last 3 month stamp? I intend to go there.

No "show of funds" are required.

  6. I got back to uk Sunday morning the Sunday night rushed into Leicester Royal infirmary infectious diseases isolation unit with bloody dengue from the prasat area

You should tell them the disease is not transmittable human to human !

No need for you to be isolated !

I hope you are being monitored closely and that they are checking your platelet count on a daily basis.

  7. MobileContent. I am not saying that the under fifties should not show that they are financially stable, they can show proof of earnings from rented property, or

business interests, inheritance etc, from their western bank accounts.

    Sure!

They can do that in their Western countries and if they can satisfy the requirements they will be issued a METV..........................

That's OK the first time, but when they go to Thailand with the intention of maybe living there, why should they have to go back to there own country every so often to renew

there METV? Or have I got it wrong somewhere?

    You have understood perfectly.

An METV is not intended to facilitate "living" in Thailand which can only be achieved by qualifying for a (renewable) extension of stay based on marriage or other provable family reason, retirement or (legal) work.

  8. Just came accross this article, it not gives the answer about this specific soap but shows many other natural growth stimulators, interesting. I understand it works via stimulating the swelling of collagen and fat tissue, but will search further for a scientific answer.

    You were asked to

"Provide links to documented scientific evidence for "soap breast enhancement therapy" published in a respected peer reviewed Scientific journal."

And your response is to post a link to a "health and beauty" comic ?

    Pathetic ........................

  9. It's a well documented fact that a large % is siphoned off for back handers at every stage of the purchase, installation, and maintenance of any gov project. My wife commented on a Thai report about these percentages, I cannot quite remember the numbers in that Thai report, but we are talking more than 50% of the total budget price.

    "Well" documented fact ?

Links to the "Well documented evidence" please

  10. So a little over 1 million baht per camera.

    Hmmm.

That price does also include 120 big screen monitors of course, one for each of the cameras (maybe), lots of cabling everywhere (unless they go wireless), and then of course you need a big new room to put them all in (so maybe that extension to the Police HQ is on the cards), and additional staff to watch them all, then you'll need some training for the staff, and nice comfortable chairs for them to sit on ... the list goes on ... sounds expensive tho lol

I have top of the line Sanyo HD cameras which cost 22k baht each which are on par with airport security cameras. Not sure that much cabling is involved as they will probably be ip cameras for that sort of money.

No need to explain where the money really goes.

    Unwarranted cynicism ...........

Public CCTV surveillance systems are expensive to install , staff and maintain!

Unlike some I can evidence my claim.
