The guarantor route is the way many Thais go in order to buy a new car and do not have the money to show they qualify. A friends wife had to do the as the friend would not pay for the car outright and a loan from Krungsri Auto was needed. The local School director, the friend of the woman's father signed as the guarantor. The FIL could not sign as he had two cars and a tractor on loan payments. Of course my friend made the monthly payments so no issues, but just think of those who are not so lucky to have a foreign payment maker in the house. You may ask, why did not the foreign husband sig as the guarantor and the answer was he is a retiree on a retirement extension of stay and has no WP so the bank would not loan the money for the car with him as the guarantor.
Those who take the loan default and the guarantor is on the hook and as you can see the stress is too much.
If you can not qualify for aa loan then the banks really should not be making the loans.
And that is the definition of predatory lending.

When a Thai commits a crime against a foreigner on the other hand....
Oh, so humane of you to sympathize with these murderers. Will you be contributing to their defense then? If there is so much of this terrible injustice and it bothers you so much why are you here? It's their country. They have every right and justification to delegate their priorities as they see fit with regard to foreigners who commit crimes without explaining to you. Plus, you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, the stories that don't make the papers. A crime by a foreigner is news by its very nature. They are often international criminals. Crimes by Thais are not necessarily priority news. How much of what you think is unfair is simply the news media making its own choices? But wasn't there a Thai woman who poisoned a bunch of people? Did the police do their jobs on that one? Kind of proves you wrong, doesn't it? Plenty more examples which you conveniently ignore when you whine about "injustice".

Hi, I'm Brit applying for a Single Entry Tourist Evisa.
The online form is asking for "Identity of the person inviting you to stay e.g. Thai ID Card, Passport" Trouble is no one is inviting me, I have a hotel booking which I have submitted elsewhere on the form. If I leave it blank it won't let me progress to the next page. Any ideas?
Also, It just asks for "Travel booking confirmation" I have submitted proof of a flight into Thailand do I need to show a flight out?
Thanks for any help
I used to do this in the US, it varies somewhat country to country. As I recall you can put the name of your contact at your hotel and the hotel phone number for person inviting you. I think I used to use a lady friend and her phone number, even if I didn't know her number, I think I used the phone number for my apartment. A lot of times you have to guess at what to put in. You can even make stuff up sometimes. There is no real reason why you won't get it, but if there is any issue they should contact you and inform you what is needed. Thailand is uniquely straddling extremely modern culture as well as extremely backward artifacts. Something to be mindful of ahead of time. As an example, when I file my 90 day report online fully half of the form's lines are left blank, and it goes through like that. In another case, when I had to enter the type of retirement visa, which was non-O, I had to enter OA for the form to progress. Good luck and have fun, cheers.

I wonder where they killed him? Obviously they set up an ambush, he walked in, somebody in another room or behind a door snuck up on him. Bashed him on the head with a heavy weapon. Man that's dirty.
Then cut him up with a chainsaw? These people are the lowest of the low.
Must've been a blσσdy mess - ugh, the horror

I advise people tp go online perhaps Lazada or Shopee and look for repellent with the highest possible level of DEET. I wouldn't trust that 7-11 stuff. I brought my own from the US, high concentration made for hunters and campers. It's a little smelly, not in a real bad way, but it works very dependably.

With regard to the vaccine, from the CDC: Dengvaxia is only recommended in those who have previously had dengue fever, children in particular, or populations in which most people have been previously infected. The value of Dengavaxia vaccine is limited by the fact that it may increase the risk of severe dengue in those who have not previously been infected.

These little tiny mosquitos seem to come out of now where in Bangkok and bite me,maybe flies? Also on the bus, why they don't spray the bus in the morning? Little tiny mosquitos all day in the buses.
The problem arises from the breeding areas, standing water, probably the canals, swamps and ponds, rice paddies. Myself, I would question the toxicity of the insecticide used, but might be worth the risk. If they spray they'd have to do it multiple times in the day since windows are usually open and allow them in all day. But I defer to the professionals, I'm sure they already know how to approach this, it's not like it's a new thing. In the US there is a program where thousands of genetically engineered sterile males are released and the females then lay unviable eggs. This has proven successful.

Within certain limitations there are still always choices and possibilities. You'll never know what your opportunities might be if you don't explore each and every possibility.

Wow, 30 years for streaming TV shows? not that i feel sorry for the guy, but murderess an rapists gets lesser sentences that this, very out of proportion in my opinion.
You don't know the details, and you can't trust sources like this. For example, they may have added all the sentences together for the sake of dramatization in this article. You also don't know the specific law and how it reads. You may be right, maybe not.

He's obviously old enough to have known better. I feel bad for his suffering, but come on, did he not know about drugs and Thai prisons? Why take those kind of chances? I knew about it long before I came here, and I wouldn't at the time (10 years ago) even go near anyone smoking weed.

Funny thing about that brown envelope cliché, I was getting paperwork at my bank and they put it in a big brown envelope and so I said to the teller, "ohhh, brown envelope, dee mak" and pretended to hand it under the counter, and she completely cracked up - I had wondered if they knew.

The story continues about her recovery and that she is learning to walk again: "mentioned that she was currently undergoing physical rehabilitation, learning to walk again with a walker". Would a person who just had a leg amputated above the knee be undergoing physical rehab in one week and learning to walk again? It was mentioned in one report that the hospital would be attempting to reattach her leg.
Maybe she didn't lose her leg at all. The stories don't add up.
In today's world amputees begin rehab relatively soon since it helps with the overall recovery and result. The longer a person is off their feet the longer it takes to recover. Meanwhile bear in mind that these stories are not written by medically educated people who then make their own interpretations of what is said

The original story discloses that the guy has made a small fortune doing this, and it's quite likely that suddenly everyone now wants to wet their beak. We all know that porn sells, every Thai person knows there's a cottage industry here for it and that most hotels are brimming with porn creators, he must have committed a big blunder to attract the wrong kind of attention. Could be he picked the wrong hotel to do this, could be he copped an attitude toward the manager, maybe made a ridiculous amount of noise, could be he should have cleared it through the manager first and cut him in for a brown envelope. I don't think he's at any real risk, but now the gov't has a poster boy to make an example of and present this as a show case for the sake of tourism. I think they'll look at his income numbers, demand receipts and tax returns, bank account balances, and then come up with an appropriate "fine" with no further jail sentence, he may be deported or banned, or maybe not, maybe they'll want him to continue to bring them more revenue.

What he was doing might be considered wierd by some. But, it was so utterly harmless. Women are getting abducted, raped and trafficked at this very moment, by Thai officials, and the police are pretending to be engaged in law enforcement. I seriously hope this results in just another omelette on the face of the rather useless RTP.
Exactly. There is a billion dollar porn industry going on in hotels all over Thailand, the difference here is this guy managed to attract the wrong kind of attention by making noise, making himself too visible, or otherwise screwing up. I suspect that the 5 years threat was trotted out prior to a negotiated settlement. That's what police did to me when I had a minor incident and got caught with pepper spray. First they emphasized how long a sentence I might get, then they said they'd rather not do that, then we negotiated a "fine" which I paid with no qualms, since I already knew how the game was played.
