That's nonsense of course, complete and utter nonsense
Confirmed by numerous credible experts that it is true and definitely not nonsense, but do as you will as far as your taxes are concerned. You should refrain from posting false information simply based on your interpretation.

Which is also the information that can be read on the pages of tax professional websites. It is also the information that is being given out by more than 1 tax professional consultancy.
But flies directly in the face of the information I was given on Monday from an RD Office.
Hopefully we will.get a definitive answer when forms get published on the RD website.
As far as I'm concerned what I was told came from reliable and knowledgable experts who have stayed on top of this and have confirmed their information directly.

In other words, if all of your remitted income was from Social Security and bank savings before 2024, there would be no need to get a TIN and no need to file.
Of course if they see your transfers and audit you need to be prepared at that time to prove you were correct not have a TIN or file.
A Thai tax expert told me that exempt income need not be declared and no return needs to be filed

This place is full of scammers who will try everything to get your money.
Governments around the world should work harder to catch these criminals and jail them for life. imo
They are the lowest of the low ....
If you mean that the whole world is full of scams including Thailand, yes. But Thailand has no more than any other country, most of these scams are from other countries.

For what it's worth, I confirmed that immigration will not get involved in requiring a tax return for each visa extension. I also consulted with a local tax professional and was told that persons with exempt income such as US Social Security don't have to file.

“The Thai authorities have said it was drowning"
What do they base that conclusion on?
It's not that big a stretch to assume that they have seen enough drownings to know what they look like. No bruises, obvious injuries, or struggle would tend to support that. OR, maybe they meant that it was a likely drowning, pending a thorough autopsy.

Sad when foreigners walk blindly into such things without remembering that this is Thailand, and almost anywhere else in the world has better and safer investment opportunities.

It seems Phuket is Scam Central - scams everywhere down there.
There is currently stories of another common scam doing the rounds on social media...
From SubWay at Phuket Airport nonetheless.
Tourist's order their Sandwich as per the menu, and are then asked what extra's they want. If they have extra's they are charged an extortionate amount.
Recently a lady was forced to pay the equivalent £72 (yes 72 British Pounds) for 3 Sandwiches - when they gave her the price she refused to pay the ridiculous amount and wanted to cancel the order, but the Police were called and she was made to pay.
There have been a handful of similar stories - the Police clearly in on it... how else could 1040 baht be charged for a single subway 6" sandwich.
Well, 2 things. 1.) Airport prices are always astronomical. 2.) American franchises are already high priced even outside airports. Chances are that the price of the extras were on the menu but she failed to check and assumed they were cheap or free. Too bad people get caught unaware. I never buy food at American branded franchises. That’s not why I came here. Lastly, hearsay stories often get exaggerated with each retelling.

If I were naivé I might think that someone wants to try to unify the populace. Rather, these are the shiftings and ups and downs of the balances of power.

Yup. Jeez, am I actually starting to understand this stuff? I think I'm reading too much news

You get what you pay for. I had bad luck with an external drive that used a fake model brand and imitated a Samsung product. They are good about refunds, but why waste your time?

Android 12
12GB RAM
10 core processor
512 GB Storage
keyboard, case and mouse
For 1600-2600 Baht.
Are the specifications real?
Or have they been manipulated to show that they are bigger and more powerful than they really are?
My eyesight has deteriorated over the last decade so I would like a large size. Some of them are 11 inches. It seems okay.
I don’t take photographs so I don’t care about camera quality. Though being able to Zoom video call family in America without lagging and jumping and freezing would be good.
Watching youtube videos without any lagging and jumping would be important.
Reading PDF books.
Browsing news websites on Chrome.
Connects to our house wifi and can connect bluetooth headphones and keyboard.
I think that would be it.
They have copied the names of brands but changed one letter. Opp0 or Sumsang or Hua Wel etc.
Has technology developed so fast that tablets with these specs can be sold so cheaply?
Or are they fake specifications?
11.6 inches, Android 13, 12GB RAM, 512GB + keyboard. 68 five star reviews many with photos. 2100 THB.
This one looks identical but is listed as 16GB RAM.
Model: pro11
System: Android 12
CPU:Snapdragon 865
Processor: Octa-core(ARM 2*A75 2.0G + 6*A55 2.0G)
GPU: G52-3EE-8core @ 850MHz
RAM:16 GB
ROM:512 GB
Package included(Official standard):
1* Realme Tablet P70
1*USB-C cable
1*charger ( 5V2A )
1*OTG connector
1*user manual
1 ×case
1 × screen protector
1 × keyboard
1 × stylus pen
1 x earphone
1x phone holder
2100THB.
Lots of 5* reviews with photos.
But the reviews are written in Thai and all the photos show tablets with Chinese characters. That is suspicious.
Are these things real? With real specifications?
Did you or your family ever buy one? How was it for the tasks listed above?
Any hardware can be configured to read fake specs, especially thumb drives. There's no way to lower the cost of basic processors or memory and still have high capacity. What I do is open a translation to English tab and copy/paste the Thai descriptions and reviews. Bear in mind that most customers are not tech savvy and may not even know they bought trash.

Sometimes even though I'm as cynical as the rest of you guys something is better than nothing. The theory is simple and sound. It's always about the money. If it costs the banks more to be recklessly greedy and place customers at risk than to implement effective security we know which way the wind will blow. And since it's always about the money, if Thailand gets a reputation for people losing money to their banks' incompetence the government may be inclined to actually do this. So through my rose colored glasses I see a win/win situation. The only things that might stand in the way are stubborn government stupidity and brown envelopes. We will be waiting with bated breath. Let me add, and I have no idea to what extent it's already been done, I think a massive public education campaign should accompany this. Cheers and happy new year.

Better odds of Taksin serving his 10 years than for these company's to pay out.

As a white person i wouldnt go to phuket anymore. They think all of us are russian and something like this is bound to happen
Brilliant comment. Maybe if you wore a shirt that said “I’m not Russian”, or maybe a tattoo across your forehead, you’d then be safe. Or, if you were nice and respectful to Thai people they might like you, you’d find out they don’t think the way you think they do, and you’d feel safer.

Poor guy. Going home to bed at midnight. Is Pattaya turning into America? Sounds like a bunch of cowardly predators had their eye on the old guy as a frail and easy target.

Cue the unforgiving and repressively puritanical looking down their nose at drunken behaviour in Pattaya because they are so above it themselves. Perhaps this forum should be retitled Prissy Now.
Sounds like you may have spent your share of nights sobering up in jail, so those of us who know our limits and how to behave in public are now looking down our prissy common sense noses at your comment. Common sense is something you seem to have confused with being unforgiving and puritanical. You should have asked Santa for a dictionary for xmas. Not all drunken behavior is bad behavior. We know that, do you even know the difference? Some people who drink actually know how to behave. Ponder that. Pattaya, and the world in general, can do without drunken fools whose behavior causes nothing but problems for responsible people having a harmlessly good time, who may or may not be drunk. Capisce?

Thanks for clarity. You would THINK that would be included in the article which didn't make clear even where Surat was right away in the title AND the interesting fact it's a dry state. Now it makes sense and is kind of funny.
If you’ve been reading here much you know this isn’t exactly great literature. But that’s where the comedy comes in when they try to embellish with 1940s style phrases. Happy holidays

Lack of training ?

The Chinese left and instead of replacing them with well behaved civilized people this is what we get. Badly behaved tourists are not discriminatory by country. American tourists in America can be atrocious. What's sad about it is it brings shame and a bad reputation to that country, meanwhile I have met the nicest and politest Indians in and around my building, they are perfect gentlemen/ladies and speak good English and are always up for a chat. One even taught me some things about my ipad that I didn't know. But my high rise is home to a lot who come here to work and go to school, so you don't get the misbehaving tourists. And people here are probably right about them thinking they can behave just like on a bus. If I had my druthers I would hope that the departing airlines from India would give a speech about behavior at the time they gave the speech about crashing and ditching. If I lived in India I would give it a try by approaching the airline execs with that proposal, it's a win/win for all. Happy holidays to everyone. PS, my nephew lived in India and Nepal, taught there for a few years, and he and many others say that, in spite of all the bad things you hear, it is a wonderful place to visit and the people are great. It looks like only the dregs of misbehaving ignorant ones come here as tourists, which reiterates my point about tourism tending to attract touraons (tourist morons>

We're ALL "content creators". When we pour beer into a pint mug, the content of the mug is beer, then it becomes the content of our stomach. In some cases the content comes back up, and the doctor can search those contents, or it then becomes the content of out bladder and then the content of the toilet, and off to the sewers. As to the content of our bowels, well that's pretty similar to these oniine tiktokkers' and youtubers' content.

When you had your life experience with a woman, and do not have time to get to know the real her, you make up for the rest, and create your wanted image of her.
It's hard to brake that image, without experience some serious defeat, therefor I guess to many hold on to those images to lang, and give up to late.
Can't name everyone I have warned during my life, still they do not want to listen, they need the first hand experience to realize the truth.
I had my set backs, but not as bas as many others. And it I'd not brake me completely yet.
Exactly right, oh wise one. Insight into human nature will save you from a lot of holes in the road. It's too bad they don't teach about scammers' tactics in schools, along with basic human nature and emotion.
