Yank bashing alert , Again
Telling the truth about American violence alert, again. I'm American. Seen shootings in my old neighborhood, 6 murders over the years. One shooting two houses from mine last year. All in the same block. yes, why DO I live in Thailand now? Ah yes. Violence is maybe 1% of what it is in the US.

Whay on earth?
Seems to be a not unusual occurrence in Thailand. Is it that easy to get a weapon?.
Three bullets to the belly? Real bad. That's his intestines knackered for life.
What a thug and utter scum to open fire at a whole family.
Knackered depends on the caliber of the bullet, where exactly the bullet went, and the success of surgery. Surgery has advanced quite a bit in today's world. High powered rifle, very bad. Pistol, more like a puncture wound. None of which is good of course.

I like it, my Thai girlfriend loves it.
A nice relaxing trip on the river with good food and reasonable prices.
What I don't like are all the people who are constantly making selfies and selfies and selfies. But I guess that is what you get on any tourist boat.
They live in the selfie universe - they don't exist unless they see themselves in a selfie. If you take their phones away they'll disappear. Hmmm, maybe not a bad idea.

So happy to know a person who never in his life made a bad decision even in hindsight. Be careful you don't fall off your high horse and end up like these people.

I dunno where you hide yourself but everywhere I go in Bangkok since last year I see renovation and new tiles being installed on major sidewalks. I was actually quite surprised and impressed. So, yes the sidewalks are bad in places, but the work is being done. Is that not good enough?

Grumpy is a good handle for you 5555.
He went hiking.... He got lost.... In a huge forest... Not like the twits on a tiny island 5 km from the coast. Maybe he was indeed thankful and donated.
You sound angry that a 72 year old is able to hike in a forest 5555
Angry at anyone and everyone who is happier than old "grumpy" will ever be.

He is lucky nature didn't get to cycle his body back into the collective.
How fortunate for the rest of us that you know so much about someone whom you've never met or even heard of prior to this story. You're no doubt an award winning biographer. Please do enlighten us with further details about this man's life and deeds. And your sensitivity and compassion are equally impressive and exemplary. So what have all the "greenie nutters" ever done to you to inspire such bile and venom? Did someone plant a tree in your yard without your permission? And what makes you so sure this man belonged to that particular club? Perhaps it's just a matter of you can't stand anyone who is of better character or might be enjoying life more than you are.

Isn't there some kind of statute of limitations here?
Statute of limitations applies to time of arrest, not to people who have been already charged and escape. Otherwise anyone who ever fled prosecution could easily run out the clock.

So what you're saying is Thailand should have one set of laws for Thais, and one set of laws for foreigners? Foreigners should be punished more severely for the same crimes? Do you understand that's racism?
Do you understand what a dictionary is? No, it's not racism. A nationality is not a race. Every country has laws that specifically regulate non citizen foreigners. There is no hate involved here. Thailand is not declaring any "race" to be inferior or undeserving of respect and decency. Foreigners are not broadly entitled to be treated the same as Thais under all circumstances. I've been here 10 years and have never seen or experienced any actual example of racism personally. I've seen Thai people who resent or don't like foreigners, but that's not racism, I can understand why they feel that way. Where I'm from, Hartford CT USA, racism abounds like an overflowing toilet splattering on everyone and everything. If you've never seen such things count yourself lucky. Maybe that's why you don't understand the meaning of the word - you've never actually seen the real thing. Thailand has the right to make laws as it sees fit, in spite of whiners who for some reason remain here in spite of all their complaints about imaginary racism. If laws are seen as two tiered or discriminatory, that doesn't mean they're racist. Again, consult your dictionary. It's how Thailand sees and deals with its problems regarding foreigners. I've seen way more dangerous driving by foreigners, way more accidents, Thai motorbike drivers actually know what they're doing even if it looks reckless to the uninformed eye (you). So with all of your nonsense, I'm thinking that you're likely an entitled white supremacist projecting your own venom and racism onto a culture you don't understand. No? Well that's what you sound like. Keep that in mind next time you want to cry "racism". When someone burns a cross or hangs a noose in your front yard then you can cry racism.

But, could you imagine the uproar and lawsuits in the west especially in the U.S. if the cops did this? No way they could get away with it.
Speaking of imagining things, your comment is pure baseless fiction. I'm from the US, 66 years. The cops in the US are actually attacking trans people and making their lives miserable. They're getting away with it. There is no predatory theft and violence being committed by trans people in the US like in Thailand, so there is no equivalency whatsoever. If it WAS a problem no one would complain about them being detained for probable cause. So the US cops ARE a problem. And cops who violate people's rights ARE getting sued, and rightfully so. Lawsuits aren't the problem. HUMAN rights are the problem. It's the right wing and white supremacists in the US who are threatening, ostracizing, assaulting, and murdering transgender and gay people in the US. The right wing congress is fostering and promoting malicious homophobia and violence against LGBTQ people. You might want to avoid commenting with your imaginary scenarios which are based on little or no real information, and certainly you ought not comment on countries which you haven't lived in and seen first hand. And if you happen to be American, then you should know better and ought to be ashamed. Meanwhile no harm is actually coming to these Thai ladyboys, unlike in the US. Hope I've clarified a few things for you, but I'm not holding my breath. I suggest you educate yourself a bit more, it might help.

Because it's how the game is played - for show. There are many layers to this, many players. Surely you don't expect them to be honest and above board?

Much worse than bad taste. You must think the holocaust is a regular riot. That you would even think, let alone write such a thing shows you to be a calloused, insensitive a------ . Do us all a favor and leave the country.

Same with the Shinawatra clan they will corrupt the senate to ensure future elections and add to their ill gotten gains for decades.
You have two Southeast Asian cultures whose leaders stole from them. From that you conclude "Asian people are blind to people that rob them". So it's because the people are stupid, is that it? Is that supposed to represent logic? 2 + 2 = 5? What, are those leaders supposed to fully disclose what they do? Seriously? Meanwhile most other cultures have had leaders who do the same thing, some a little more under the radar than others, most never get caught and are purposefully invisible to the general public. USA included. The US Supreme Court has recently been exposed as corrupt and beholden to billionaires. But it's because the American people are blind, right? You possess the classic mind of a bigot, to whom every conclusion is molded into your prejudices and favorite stereotypes. Nobody is "blind" if the corrupt leaders are simply expert con artists and able to hide their misdeeds, which means just abut all of them and not just your "Asians".

Nonsense entirely. If something goes wrong on the other side the bank side would see only success or zero.
The OP does not say he lost money but got a failed transaction. Sigh.
This issue relates likely from the payment provider refusing those countrie(s) and/or banks and/or your current location.
OR there is simply a (temporary) error on their side (website/processor).
Nonsense? Really? You'd be surprised, if you actually tried, how much info is actually on the electronic record. You have to speak to the IT person at your bank who can read the codes and translate them. You also might have to speak to the receiving bank. There is an electronic trail throughout the path from your bank to theirs. Some banks will not process international transactions, but do not disclose this fact unless you dig into it. Could be a number of other reasons for this. Could be an oversensitive security protocol somewhere in the chain. If you want to figure this out you'll have to do the heavy lifting.
