The reporting is pretty bad on this one, in one story he's 49 and another he's 59, both by the same author. It's important to remember these are allegations without much detail. He is in jail, pointing this out puts nobody in danger. There's not much info in the story, but an earlier one says he's confessed and been charged.
What's the school's role in this? It seems for years this teacher has possibly been molesting girls within school grounds during school time and it was never noticed? At the very least the need to review procedures, install CCTV, maybe even sack an administrator...
Several years ago an international school in Ubon employed a very well qualified teacher, without any background checks. A Google search would have revealed he'd been jailed in Indonesia for sexually assaulting students.
“blew the lid off Brown’s alleged misdeeds. ” Love the 1940s pulp fiction cliches

Yes, dead people are known for murdering their widows after the fact. Where do you think the money came from? You might want to read the linked story

I hate to judge before all the fact are on the table, but this looks like a token arrest.
Better to spent resources on overstayers and maniacs.
Points deducted from Thai police in this episode *sadface*
This is about generating revenue for the gov't. He'll pay a "fine" and be let go. Just my useless opinion

What's not to like? False and ignorant statements like yours, utterly detached from reality. None of those things have ever been liked to Marijuana. Do you think your comments are taken the least bit seriously? Guess again.

What were the expectations?
And now, did anybody follow up and compare the expectations with reality?
Did it all go according to plan? What went wrong? And why did it go wrong?
Or was there never any study and some politicians just decided that they can make money by legalizing it?
And now some other politicians want to make it illegal again for whatever personal reasons?
Personally I see possible good and bad sides. Decisions should be made based on what is good for Thai society.
There have been hundreds of studies, which you could easily have found were it not for laziness on your part. Most of your questions could have been addressed online with a little research. Too much actual work though, right?

Quote the studies. Which ones? Copy paste from them the evidence. Let's see it. You don't know what you're talking about. Marijuana is nowhere near the same league as other substances. It has dozens of positive and medicinal benefits. And these points ARE backed up with research, and were that not the case it would not be getting legalized at warp speed throughout the world BASED ON THE RESULTS OF ACTUAL RESEARCH.

Stereotyping is disgusting.
Not as disgusting as the smell as I walk past 6 Indians sitting at a table with one bottle of water between them, but disgusting all the same.
Isn't racist hate speech and bigotry against community standards? Such sentiments are far more offensive than any "odor" coming from any source. Personally I think you should go back where you came from and stay there, was it America? You'd fit right in.

How many seriously ill prisoners are there in Thailand? Under which conditions do they live? Do they get proper treatment?
And then compare the hundreds or thousands of seriously ill prisoners with the VIP prisoner.
And maybe even compare medial treatment of normal Thais, who are not in prison, to the VIP guy. How many seriously sick people are transported per helicopter to a specialist in the middle of the night?
If you want to meet courageous journalists I suggest you attend an event at the Foreign Correspondent's Club of Thailand. There are in fact quite a few, including a Thai woman who sustained a lacerated eyeball from a broken bottle tossed at her by Thai police while she was covering a protest with her press ID clearly visible. I met and spoke with her in person. The problem is not the existence of courageous journalists, the problem is where they are getting published or suppressed. You won't find quality reporting in this amateurish tabloid. They absolutely butchered a story I gave to them a few years ago.

Using this accident and its drama to promote her bottom line. Bet she's a lousy orthodontist. Egocentricity does not go well with medical professionals.

More illiteracy in journalism, which then contributes to the same public illiteracy plague. She wasn't "electrocuted" regardless of the rampant misuse of the term. Electrocuted means you died. Etymology: "electro-execute" to execute by electricity. Duh. She was shocked. Shocked, I say (clutching pearls). But you can't fix stupid, can you? Even in journalism. Nonetheless, every time those of us who made it past high school hear someone misuse this we think "there goes another dropout ίdίot butchering the English language". But who cares, really. I'm just another English major curmudgeon.

The arrest warrant was illegally issued for a crime she didn’t commit. There is no doubt that the warrant is considered null and void. Thus the slate is now cleared. Reasoning skills are required here.

Can only feel sorry for his wife, that have to live with such unintelligent entity.
As far as Thailand, maybe yes, but don't visit the US or read any US news - that's much worse plus you're liable to get shot for no reason but being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even with all this Thailand is still the best place to be. (An American)

Hopefully the wife won't bail him out, and his bags will be curbside when he does get out. Almost feel sorry for her. Imagine living with someone like that ... Holy Buddha. Obviously has no respect for himself, let along anyone else.
I've observed a lot of alcoholics, including myself and many in my family (I'm recovered, don't have more than a few beers once in a while) . With some drunks behavior like this is just more of the same, like you say, self centered obnoxiousness. But with others a major Jekyll/Hyde personality change occurs, and a person who is perfectly nice when sober wiII turn into an insufferable god awful human being. It's like flipping a switch. Strange to watch. So this guy could be either one, but one thing for sure - he shouldn't be allowed to drive. No disparagement to those who drink responsibly, but alcohol is a scourge on civilized culture because of the way people behave when drinking.

what a quandary, Thailand is desperate for more tourists but eager to kick out tourists that overstay. if only there was an amnesty to get them legal so they can stay and spend more money. the visa process is frustrating and that doesn't help either
That's a great idea. Refreshing, since most people come here to endlessly complain about a place where they nonetheless continue to live

This is the second time I read something like this in Pattaya. The first time it was some Russians, sometime last year. Take heed as to why your own government tells you to never surrender your passport to anyone. Each time you do you are a hostage to that person.

Absolutely. That's what I did. Even if the risks are minimal, the consequences are too high. None of it is that hard to do, you just have to get through a learning curve like anything else, no more complicated than registering a car in your home country.

R.I.P. to the people who lost their lives but good news to get this junk off the streets
"people" who "lost" their lives? These were the worst of the worst violent dregs of society. Trafficking in human misery and suffering. They weren't selling joints on a street corner. They opened fire first, that's literally attempted murder. How many other people do you think these people may have murdered in the course of their daily business? They were justifiably shot dead as they attempted more murder. Their lives weren't "lost", they were put down like the animals they were, and they deserve no rest, no peace, but an eternity of burning in heII

Is sex with a 17yo illegal in Germany?
I think not!
Can you even extradite someone for this?
So you'd be willing to offer up your 17 year old daughter or granddaughter for the enjoyment of tourists? Or are you also a sex tourist/pedophiIe? Perhaps you married a 17 year old. OK, LEGAL age of consent is a grey area between cultures, but there is a higher moral perspective as to what defines a child vs an adult. I don't think most decent rational people consider 17, or even 18, to be a fully mature adult capable of making adult decisions at the level of a 25 - 45 year old. Then one has to ask, why would anyone lust after a young teenager when there are plenty of 21+ year old perfectly legal and equally beautiful available women? Something wrong with that picture. And yes, though there isn't a treaty with Germany, extradition is possible under a certain process between the two countries.
