  1. I took a mini bus from Kampot to Koh Kong today. What was upsetting was this women who was completely unconscious being taken care of by her husband. When i first got into the van i thought maybe she is sleeping or bit sick but then after a while as we drove on, i realize she was completely out cold, unconscious. The drive was long and rough, the road was unpaved and dusty. At one point we stopped for a break, i was relieved to see she was still breathing. I tried to ask what was wrong but nobody spoke English. The other foreigners on the bus, seemed to care less. They just shrugged. Her poor husband kept trying to proper her up. Why take her so far, instead of to a local hospital. What do you think was wrong with her? Is it illegal to transport someone like that? I was thinking of flagging a police man. It is depressing image in my head. Cambodia is sad country, seem to be run by children.
  2. Thailand has a high number of poor and uneducated people. Food preparation or food businesses are a primary source of entrepreneurship and economic development for these people. It is simple and easy to scale. Especially for women. So it reasonable to exclude foreigners from this industry.
  3. Life cycle in definitive hosts Adult worms are found in a tumor located in the gastric wall of the definitive hosts and release eggs into the host's digestive tract. The eggs are then released with feces and in about a week hatch in water to develop into first stage larva.[16] Larvae are then ingested by minute copepods of the genus Cyclops.[17] Once entering the copepod, the larvae penetrate the gastric wall of their intermediate host and begin to develop into second-stage and even early third-stage larvae.[16] The copepods are then ingested by a second intermediate host such as fish, frogs, or snakes.[3] Within this second intermediate or definitive host the larva repeat a similar pattern of penetrating the gastric wall, but then continue to migrate to muscular tissue and develop into advanced third-stage larvae.[16] These larvae then encyst within the musculature of the new host.[18] If the cyst containing flesh of these hosts is ingested by a definitive host, such as dogs, and cats, the cysts are ingested and the larvae escape the cysts and penetrate the gastric wall.[16] These released larvae travel to the connective tissue and muscle as observed before and after 4 weeks they return to the gastric wall as adults.[16] Here they form a tumor and continue to mature into adults for the next 6–8 months.[3] Worms mate and females begin to excrete fertilized eggs with feces 8–12 months after ingestion of cysts.[14] They are passed out in the feces and eaten by another fish.[citation needed] Life cycle in humans Infection of humans by gnathostomiasis is accidental because humans are not one of the definitive hosts of the parasite and do not allow the parasite to complete its life cycle. Infection in humans follows ingestion of raw or insufficiently cooked infected intermediate hosts.[14]The ingested third stage larva migrates from the gastric wall and its migration results in the symptoms associated with infection by gnathostomiasis.[3] The third stage larvae don't return to the gastric wall preventing it from maturing into adult worms, leaving the life cycle incomplete. Instead the larvae continue to migrate unpredictably unable to develop into adults, so eggs are seldom found in diagnostic tests.[1] This also means the number of worms present in humans is a reflection of the number of third stage larvae ingested. "it was not until 1889 that the first human case was described by Levinson when he found the Gnathostoma larva in an infested Thai woman. The lifecycle of G. spinigerum was described by Svasti Daengsvang and Chalerm Prommas from Thailand in 1933 and 1936.[24] This delay in identification of the parasite in humans is due to the fact that humans are not a definitive host for this parasite making infection from this parasite rare. Gnathostomiasis infection is rare because the parasite must be digested when it has reached its third larvae stage, providing only a short time frame in which the parasite is capable of infecting humans. It is uncommon for the larvae to penetrate the skin of individuals exposed to contaminated food or water without ingestion."
  4. " Gnathostoma, that infect humans primarily by eating undercooked or raw freshwater fish, eels, frogs, birds, and reptiles." Another reason to cook your own food in Thailand.
  5. Just take baclofen instead. Drinking problems solved.
  6. That is not suppose to be good, the vegetables will absorb the soap and not rinse off.
  7. This is just not machismo or losing face. This guy is a psychopath who lacks empathy. You can see how explains to the cops calm and cool, that the farang cut him off, soooo i just shot him.
  8. Never ride a motorbike. Period. It's been said a million times.
  9. There has been numerous cases of farangs bank account getting lighter.
  10. Let's hope the bank didn't lose the money some how.
  11. Severe bites such on the stomach or a vein could require a Human rabies immune globulin (HRIG) is administered only once, at the beginning of anti-rabies prophylaxis, to previously unvaccinated persons. Which might not be available if/when it happens to you. That is why you should get vaccinated against rabies if you are living in SE asia. There are cases in India of people getting all the shots and still dying from rabies. In India the stray dog situation is much worse. When you start reading the data; it is lot easier to catch rabies than you might realize. A scratch or lick from a dog, cat, monkey or donkey is all that is needed. Again, the vaccine is thought to be highly effective for at least 20 years if not a life time.
  12. Do you do any special preparation to your fruits and vegetables to remove pesticide residue? Avoid certain produce? Probably fish is the safest. Chicken is exported and maybe checked for pesticide content. Are they still using banned pesticides?
  13. Consult with local health authorities or doctor about the prevalence of mosquito diseases. If it is serious situation then you may have to move. Once you catch dengue then second time can be much worse. The simple answer is stay indoor and keep everything shut in the evening. Spray with deet or pyrethrin in your home.
  14. Western people take it for granted that things in Thailand are the same as in their country.
  15. You are a bad object. Marijuana just exaggerates your paranoid condition. Simple answer don't smoke it.
  16. Order from amazon, take 2-3 weeks
  17. Try some house plants.
  18. The meth makes him paranoid. So that is why he carries the gun, not because he is a gangster. He could shoot someone by accident because he is mentallly disturbed.
  19. I took a seat in the park one time and looked down and see used strip of tramadol on the ground in front of me. I'm thinking, hmm that is not smart. I look around and behind me are some teenagers, a few of them passed out on the bench. Then i notice some undercover cop eyeing them. Then he looks at me and smiles. Not sure what he did, probably sent them. Needless to say a bad idea to experiment with drugs. You have to ask yourself what is wrong in someone life that they need to take drugs. Why do you augment reality so you can accept it? You see this with alcohol, most people get drunk then have causal sex or meet someone. If causal sex is so great then why do you need to be drunk to get into it? It because it is not causal and your subconscious is giving you warning signs. Teenagers need to find out what makes them happy in life. If they take drugs, then they might just stop at that level and never progress to what is real.
  20. You wanted it cheap. You could got to 7-11 and pay 2x the price.
  21. He should write a book like Shantaram,
  22. They will try to ripe you off at first. Once they see you enough you will get the right price. Also find out who is selling the better vegetables from the farm. Some of them are just resellers.
  23. This is why i always carry my passport in a money belt pouch around my waist. If ever i take it out and need to show it to someone, it immediately returns to the pouch and the zipped up. Same with my atm and credit cards. This way there is no chance of dropping it or forgetting it. When i am not wearing it goes it special place in my back pack. I do carry a photo copy of my PP which is folded up in plastic zip lock baggie that goes in side of my money pouch that i carry around for day-to-day use. That is, in case i get in accident or lose it or stopped by police. As for the OP, Jan 3rd is really close. I would suggest you play dumb, go to the airport and fake it until you make it.
  24. You need proper venting is the only real way to solve the problem.
