BANGKOK (NNT) - Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Han Zhiqiang has expressed confidence in the success of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) at a seminar held by the One Belt One Road research center at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. Han, during his keynote address at a forum titled “Contemporary China with the World: An exchange of a new generation between Thailand and China”, discussed how Thailand’s 20-year strategic plan and its 4.0 policy have effectively synergized with the BRI in terms of infrastructure development and people-to-people connectivity. The ambassador cited the Chinese-Thai rail development project as an example of infrastructure cooperation between both nations, with the second phase of the project set to start construction in 2024 and be completed in 2028. He added that once the project is completed, it would help lower the cost of transporting goods between Thailand, Laos and China. The Chinese ambassador further highlighted the importance of bilateral trade in the success of the initiative, noting that China had invested in 158 projects in Thailand in 2022 - making it the kingdom’s largest foreign investor. Han added that the Thai-Chinese industrial estate located in Rayong province serves as clear evidence of the close partnership between Thailand and China. The economic zone has managed to draw in more than 180 Chinese companies, resulting in the creation of over 45,000 employment opportunities. BANGKOK(NNT) - Thawi Watthana District Chief Dicha Kongsri on Monday (24 Apr) clarified that the recent removal of campaign posters belonging to a political party was not an act of political discrimination. He noted that the posters were collected from a road parallel to Khlong Thawi Watthana and Aksa Road, which had previously been declared off-limits for campaign posters. Dicha added that the district office had publicly announced the ban in advance and that the party or its candidates may not have been aware of the restrictions. The Election Commission (EC) has meanwhile revealed a method of sharing the remaining 100 seats for party-list representatives after seats had already been distributed to parties depending on the number of party-list votes received. According to the EC, if one party has the largest remaining votes, it will receive an extra party-list seat. Other parties with fewer remaining votes will also receive an extra seat one by one until all 100 seats have been filled. If two parties have the same remaining votes, a draw will take place to decide the recipient of the extra seat. Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo Breeds Critically Endangered Vultures BANGKOK (NNT) - The Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo in northeast Thailand wants to ensure any hatchling bred in captivity does not imprint on humans so they will be better prepared for eventual release into the wild. BANGKOK (NNT) - The Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo in northeast Thailand wants to ensure any hatchling bred in captivity does not imprint on humans so they will be better prepared for eventual release into the wild. As a scavenger, the red-headed vulture used to play a crucial role in the ecosystem by consuming animal carcasses. However, hunting and changes to its habitat mean the species is extinct in the wild in Thailand and is significantly diminished globally. After nearly two decades of trying to increase the red-headed vulture population, the zoo is starting to see results, with another egg being incubated by its parents in conservation. The conservation team hopes it can create a large enough population for eventual release. Zoo Director Thanachon Kensingh said, "The most crucial aspect of our success would be to enhance the ecosystem of the UNESCO heritage site, Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary," adding that the park in the west of Thailand was once home to the largest community of Asian king vultures. He also said, "We would like to see the Asian king vulture soar once again through the skies of Thailand." -- © Copyright NNT 2023-04-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. She was there to give her side of the story regarding her live TikTok broadcast where she revealed her experience with online gambling. According to her account, she lost more than 25 million baht in just three and a half months. Sodor Style began her gambling journey in January this year and encountered losses throughout the experience. In one instance, she revealed that she gambled 300,000 baht in one go and ended up losing the entire sum. She wagered on three games, totalling 900,000 baht of losses. Furthermore, she talked about her betting on football matches in her live broadcast, which began to accumulate losses into the millions. At that point, Sadao Style claimed that money held no value for her and losing more led her to gamble further, sometimes making significant returns in a short amount of time. As a result, she became one of the top customers for several gambling websites during this period. In a brief statement, Sodor Style revealed that she received a summons to testify as a witness from both the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and the TCSD. Initially, she was uncertain about the topics the authorities would cover during her questioning, but she expressed her full commitment to cooperating with the investigation. Sadao Style did not express any distress regarding the situation. SET focuses on developing and disseminating financial planning contents, catering to financial management needs for the near-retirement age group, and has recently launched a new campaign called "Happy Money, Happy Young Old", setting the goal for the Thai people to live comfortably after retirement in a sustainable manner. SET Senior Executive Vice President - Head of Corporate Strategic Planning Division and Capital Market Sustainability Development Division Soraphol Tulayasathien said that the number of senior citizens in Thailand has increased at the fast clip and the country is entering the completely aged society defined as a country where the ratio of population aged 60 or above is 20 percent. In addition, the survey results showed that a majority of retired Thai people have financial problem with 54 percent having some savings for retirement but most of their savings below THB 50,000 (approx. Significantly, this campaign is expected to be a vital learning source for everyone who wants to prepare for the future, help upgrade the quality of life of the Thai people in terms of financial stability and get ready for retirement particularly when Thailand is entering the completely aged society,” added Soraphol. The "Happy Money, Happy Young Old" campaign provides knowledge for retirement preparation, consisting of two new SET e-Learning courses (total of two hours): "Age 50+: Preparing for a Wealthy Life, Welcoming Retirement Day”, and “Age 60+: Managing Money after Retirement, Cool Gen.” For further understanding, SET provides a six – hour workshop with hands-on practice in retirement planning. Photo via Hat Yai Focus A Thai man accused a lieutenant general of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) of using drugs, engaging in sexual sadism, and physically abusing him during their sexual encounter in the southern province of Songkhla. The accuser, a Thai man named Nut, spoke to the media today about his relationship with the aforementioned RTA soldier named Wor. Nut disclosed that he met Wor through a dating application and arranged to meet him at a hotel in the Sadao district of Songkhla on Saturday, April 22. Nut claimed that he was not aware of Wor’s high-ranking position in the RTA until the day they met. According to Nut, Wor invited him to use crystal meth before engaging in sexual activity, but Nut declined. However, Wor injected the drug into his veins. During the sexual encounter, Wor started using sex toys on Nut in a sadistic manner. He beat, bit, and physically abused the Thai man, causing him to fear for his safety. Consequently, Nut recorded some videos as evidence. Nut said… “I did not consent to the use of the sex toys. He beat me, but I was hesitant to resist because Wor was a high-profile RTA soldier.
