Hat Yao beach in Trang A hidden gem on the Andaman coast is set to become the next big thing for international travellers. Hat Yao beach, situated in the Trang province, is being dubbed the next Maya Bay – the picture-postcard beach made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2000 movie “The Beach”. The Tourism Council of Trang believes that Hat Yao beach has all the ingredients to become a major tourist attraction in the South. It cited the towering limestone karts of Ao Po Bay, Hat Yong Ling beach, the caverns of Tham Chao Khun, and the opportunity to spot dugongs and turtles as the reasons why the beach has the potential to be a must-visit destination. Ao Po Bay’s sandy stretches run beneath a shark fin-shaped mountain, which can easily rival the beauty of Maya Bay in neighbouring Krabi province, according to the TCT. Adventure travellers can enjoy rock climbing on the limestone karst cliffs or sailing underneath them. Additionally, the beach offers kayaking through the mangrove forest to Tham Chao Khun. The cave is home to spectacular stalactite formations and a colony of bats. Ao Po Bay’s underwater meadows of seagrass also make it a playground for dugongs and turtles. The TCT President, Pitakpong Chaikot, announced plans to develop tourism in the area in collaboration with Hat Chao Mai National Park. The Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning has been allocated a budget to study, design and develop local tourist attractions. The TCT would also work with local hospitality operators and community enterprises to promote tourism activities in the area. Tour operators would also be permitted to station themselves at Trang Airport, 50 minutes away by car, to promote attractions around Hat Yao beach. Trang tourism agencies are also hosting Chinese tourism representatives to drum up demand from what was Thailand’s largest overseas travel market before Covid. Indonesian tour operators visited Trang at the end of last year, according to the TCT chief. In addition, the area’s reasonably priced food and accommodation would also be attractive to tourists. TCT President, Pitakpong Chaikot, said that the TCT is committed to making the area a popular tourist destination. “Hat Yao beach is among the most beautiful beaches in the South.” It seems like Hat Yao beach is well on its way to becoming the next big thing in the world of international travel. With its stunning natural beauty, diverse range of activities, and attractive prices, it won’t be long before travellers from all over the world flock to this hidden paradise. Hat Yao Beach’s main challenge, or perhaps advantage, is it’s far more remote than Maya Bay. Maya Bay and the Phi Phi Islands are just an hour away by boat from either Phuket or Krabi. Whereas Trang, with infrequent flights to its airport and only passenger vans delivering tourists to the area, is a harder sell. Then again, it’s only 2 hours drive south of Krabi. And Maya Bay is getting very over-listed these days, so… Source: https://phuket-go.com/phuket-news/islands/maya-bays-new-southern-competition-hat-yao-beach-in-trang/ -- © Copyright Phuket GO 2023-03-10 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The report covers an analysis of employment, documentation, wage levels and other basic welfare, such as food, healthcare, shelter and education, through the lens of nationality and gender. Despite the overall data showing that the situations of those from Myanmar are more precarious than their Cambodia counterparts in several areas, both bear considerable risk in each area and are in need of serious development assistance. The report also points out an obvious discrepancy in opportunities between women and men in each area. Phuket – the island of three seasons PHOTO: Phuket monsoons in summer season The sunniest time of the year is the Phuket winter, the hottest time is the spring, the wettest time is the summer – go figure! Full Story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1288708-phuket-–-the-island-of-three-seasons/ -
PHOTO: Phuket monsoons in summer season The sunniest time of the year is the Phuket winter, the hottest time is the spring, the wettest time is the summer – go figure! Phuket experiences three seasons throughout the year – the hot season, the dry season, and the wet season – and each has its own unique characteristics that make Phuket a year-round destination for tourists from all over the world. The hot season, which lasts from March to May, is characterized by high temperatures and low humidity. During this season, temperatures can reach up to 35°C (95°F), and the sun shines for an average of 8 hours a day. While this may sound like perfect beach weather, the heat can be intense, and it is important to stay hydrated and wear sun protection when spending time outdoors. The hot season is also the driest season of the year, with very little rainfall. The dry season, which runs from December to February, is the most popular time to visit Phuket. The temperatures are still warm, with an average of 28°C (82°F), but the humidity is lower than in the hot season, making it a more comfortable time to explore the island. The dry season is also the peak tourist season in Phuket, with many visitors coming to escape the cold weather in their home countries. During this season, the beaches are crowded, and accommodation prices can be higher than usual. The wet season, also known as the monsoon season, runs from May to November. This season is characterized by heavy rainfall, high humidity, and occasional thunderstorms. While the wet season may sound less appealing to tourists, it can be a great time to visit Phuket for those who prefer fewer crowds and lower prices. The vegetation on the island is lush and green during this season, and the waterfalls are at their most spectacular. However, it is important to note that some beaches may be closed during the wet season due to strong currents and rough seas. The monsoon in southern Thailand, including Phuket, typically starts in May (usually straight after Songkran – the Thai New Year) and lasts until October or November. During this time, the weather can be unpredictable, with sudden and heavy rainfall that can cause flooding and landslides. But the downpours are usually short and sharp. The monsoon winds blow from the southwest, bringing moisture from the Indian Ocean and the Andaman Sea to southern Thailand. The amount of rainfall varies from year to year, but on average, Phuket receives around 2,400mm of rain per year, with the wettest months being September and October. While the monsoon season can be unpredictable and sometimes disruptive, it is also an important part of the local ecosystem. The heavy rainfall replenishes the island’s water supply and supports the growth of vegetation and crops. It is also the breeding season for many species of fish and marine life, making it a great time for diving and snorkeling. To prepare for the monsoon season, residents and businesses in Phuket take a number of precautions. Many buildings are constructed with elevated foundations and drainage systems to prevent flooding, and emergency services are on standby to respond to any weather-related incidents. Tourists visiting Phuket during the monsoon season should also take precautions, such as carrying rain gear and staying up to date on weather warnings. Whether you prefer hot and dry weather or lush greenery and fewer crowds. While the monsoon season may be less predictable than the other seasons, it is still a great time to experience the island’s natural beauty and unique culture. By taking precautions and staying informed about weather conditions, visitors to Phuket can enjoy their trip no matter what season they choose to visit. PHOTO: Por Pia in Phuket, Thailand Phuket not only offers a great living and tourism experience, but also mouth-watering local ‘southern’ cuisine. Sometimes spicy, here are the top five dishes you should try when visiting Phuket. There are plenty of other but these would be the most well known. Tom Yum Goong Tom Yum Goong, a famous Thai dish, is a must-try in Phuket. This spicy and sour soup is made with lemongrass, chili, and coconut milk, and is usually prepared with seafood such as prawns or shrimp. However, there are also versions made with chicken and pork ribs. Tourists who cannot handle spicy food should approach this dish with caution. Massaman Curry Originating from Muslim Malaysia, Massaman Curry is a fusion dish that combines Thai and Indian cuisine. Unlike other curries, it does not contain curry leaves but includes a blend of herbs and spices such as lemongrass, galangal, and tamarind paste, mixed with beef, chicken, or pork. Coconut milk is added to create a creamy texture, and it is served with rice. Mee Hokkien Noodle Mee Hokkien Noodle is a stir-fried noodle dish originating from Fujian, China, but has become a popular food in Phuket. It consists of thick golden noodles stir-fried with shrimp, pork, squid, eggs and bean sprouts, and is served with sambal chili and lemon. This dish is typically eaten for lunch or tea-time in Phuket. It can also be served up as a vegetarian dish. Por Pia Por Pia is a Thai spring roll that is stuffed with meat, vegetables, crunchy pastry, prawns, and rice noodles. It is then deep-fried until crispy and served with a special sauce made with a unique recipe. Por Pia is a popular appetizer or snack among tourists, and restaurants such as Lock Tien in Phuket Old Town or Natural Restaurant in Talad Yai, Muang, serve this dish. Khao Man Gai Khao Man Gai, also known as chicken rice, is a simple but delicious dish that is a favorite among both locals and tourists. It is made by boiling chicken until tender and using the chicken broth to cook the rice, which absorbs all the flavors and nutrients. It is served with chicken stock and a spicy-sweet sauce and is a perfect lunch option. In addition to these classic dishes, Phuket also offers some unique southern Thai cuisine, such as Gaeng Tai Pla, a spicy and sour fish curry, and Khao Yam, a salad made with rice, vegetables, and herbs. These dishes offer a taste of the distinct flavors and spices found in southern Thai cuisine. Eight-Lane Bridge Over Chao Phraya River Set to Officially Open Next Year BANGKOK (NNT) - The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) expects the construction of the country’s widest river bridge over the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok to be officially completed by next year. Full Story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1288698-eight-lane-bridge-over-chao-phraya-river-set-to-officially-open-next-year/ -
BANGKOK (NNT) - The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) expects the construction of the country’s widest river bridge over the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok to be officially completed by next year. According to EXAT, the construction of the eight-lane bridge is scheduled to be completed this month. However, the bridge will need to go through inspections and architectural work before it can be officially inaugurated early next year. The parallel bridge is part of the Rama III expressway project which extends 18.7 kilometers from the Bang Khunthian interchange along Rama II Road to the Bang Khlo interchange, connecting the Chalerm Maha Nakhon and Si Rat expressways. The project will help alleviate congestion in the capital and its adjacent provinces to the west and south of the country. The eight-lane bridge is a 2-kilometer-long cable-stayed construction built parallel to the Rama IX Bridge. The new bridge will help relieve congestion from the other bridge, which is expected to be repaired in the future. After the parallel bridge is fully operational, EXAT will cease the use of the Rama IX Bridge in 2025 for a year of maintenance. Rama IX Bridge currently handles an average of 104,000 vehicles per day. Authorities said that congestion on the 35-year-old bridge will be reduced once the Rama III expressway project is finished.
