Such a strange path leading toward Super Tuesday:

a botched caucus in Iowa, then primaries in New Hampshire and Nevada, followed now by South Carolina.

If the fortunes and continuing viability of the various candidates are gonna be determined by what voters in THOSE 4 states think, it's hardly anything close to a reasonable or representative sampling of the U.S. electorate at large!!!!  Yet that's apparently where it's often de facto decided who can carry forward to campaign in the vast remaining other state primaries around the country.

Biden's just lucky he happened to have South Carolina to pull his chestnuts out of the fire in the nick of time, because yet another loss there would have shot any remaining chance held by his campaign -- even though the vast majority of the U.S. would not yet have even had a chance to vote yet.  There's something rather unsettling about that whole affair.

Wrong! Nevada is not a primary. It was same as Iowa, a caucus. More importantly is the SC populations make up is non-white.  I will wait until a canidate wins, American way.

    I keep reading:

"The United States said it is committed to reducing the number of its troops in Afghanistan to 8,600 -- from the current 13,000 -- within 135 days of signing the deal, and working with its allies to proportionally reduce the number of coalition forces in Afghanistan over that period, if the Taliban adhere to their commitments."

So we know what the US will do but as far as the Taliban is concern all I read is " if the Taliban adhere to their commitments."

But what are their commitments? I also have read several other articles and nowhere did I read what we won. Other than that we occupied the country, lost many lives and spend Billions of dollars. What did we win?

    Does anyone know?

The debt directly responsible for Republicans corruption.

Very good question. I, too, would love to see Sanders get in (or Warren; I’d be happy with either), but the Democrats have been calling Trump an idiot for three years and his base remains firm at 35-40 percent, and his support has even gone up since the impeachment. Plus, there are cynics who vote exclusively on what their 401Ks are doing, and those have done well. Plus, there are all the reasons Jingthing mentioned above that favor an incumbent and especially this incumbent. Republicans seem to paint “dirtier” than Democrats do.

Other Sanders supporters who are friends of mine say it’s all about getting the vote out, especially young voters, who are often apathetic during elections. Plus, an article I recently read somewhere pointed out the numbers of African Americans in crucial urban areas like Milwaukee, Detroit, Philadelphia, Miami, and even Atlanta and Charlotte, who simply didn’t vote last time (was it Hillary?), who could also turn those states around if they voted this time. Sanders even talks about Texas, and why not? I recently spent some time in Texas, and it’s an interesting place. If he can spend more effort generating broader enthusiasm and less time talking about Trump (simply calling Trump an idiot doesn’t work), anything can happen, but it’s risky ...

Another embarrassingly bad debate being swept under the rug. They all acted like children and were pretty rude. It's funny watching a bunch of people of which none can win argue over who has the least chance of losing.

Bloomberg is just getting creepy, they say Biden has last his fastball but Bloomberg has no debate skills at all. However we are stuck with him so moving on... Warren, Steyer and Klobuchar should say goodbye.

Buttigieg has won some delegates he should drop out swiftly though if SC primary shows he isn't the one. Biden seems to have better make up. You could almost imagine he could live another 6 months if you squint your eyes.

On the other hand maybe they should all stay in and let Bernie have it. It's becoming obvious the dems find Bloomberg as repulsive as Trump. It doesn't help that he has that arrogant, stereotypical, NYC, Jew, Billionaire thing going. I mean come on it's ridiculous. If you think Trump is ugly I can't imagine Bloomberg is held in much higher regard.

The tribe is divided and there is no clear winner. It is beginning to look like Bernie might do the impossible.

Never thought I would see the day I agree whole heartedly with you, Cryingdick. I also think that what I'm reading from JCauto just nails everything.  The fact Bernie is all about Healthcare plan and trump is not interestd in offering one. The COVID19/economy is the cause of trump not getting re-elected.

    100% this.

His presidency is fully dependent upon the economy (and in his view the economy = dow jones)

His administration is already making Katrina like missteps:

    - SD official forcing infected disaster princess americans on plane with uninfected against CDC advice

    - Trump stating that a vaccine is almost ready (later to be corrected.. "he meant ebola vaccine!")

    - complete botching of test kits

    - Kudlow breaking with CDC on coronavirus: ‘We have contained this’

Not to mention when people become sick in droves and going to get care bankrupts them, it sure does make that wacky socialist with plans of 'medicare for all' seem awfully appealing.

Stock market nose diving. trump will lose the election because of healthcare alone.

Vote anybody but trump.   Keep America Alive

Dividing Americans to gain power for a party going potentially communist!  Can he ever stop at the chance to ridicule the POTUS!

The USA would be a whole lot better without CA and NY representation from the divide and conquer dems!

    JC ,Chuck work with us!!!!!!

Not funny your suggesting CA and NY representation are the dividers when it is always trump himself

“But I thought the very stable genius said not to worry!! Maybe that’s why he’s defunding the cdc and po poing science ”

The Center for Disease Controls current annual budget is over 11 Billion. When was the CDC defunded?  Asking for 2.5 Billion now to combat Covid 19 appears to be a proper first step.  The Federal Government is not perfect but most of the time they do a good job in responding to major events.

In 2018, the Trump administration fired the government’s entire pandemic response chain of command. One of many reversals he took trying to get to Obama's accomplishments.

I am glad you brought this up. I am just reading news story  of a Yale University study that says

"The analysis, conducted by researchers at Yale University, the University of Florida and the University of Maryland, found that transitioning the U.S. to a single-payer health care system would actually save an estimated $450 billion each year, with the average American family seeing about $2,400 in annual savings. The research, which was published Saturday in the medical journal The Lancet, also found that Medicare for all would prevent about 68,000 unnecessary deaths per year. "

When i found out that the "middlemen" in healthcare were taking in 27% I knew where the problem was. AMA is the worlds largest union.

I am no one's Bro! Well except my brother John:smile:

You misunderstand me. I did not think you were bashing Sanders, I was trying to understand what you said.

I Supported Sanders 2016.and contributed to his campaign, this cycle I initially thought he was too old and supported Yang , Unfortunately Yang dropped out.

I still think Sanders is to old, but I don't see another viable candidate IMO. I would like to see who would be Sanders VP, because I don't think he will finish two terms.

I understand that Sanders is not running for emperor, and all the ideas he has will be subject to a majority in the House and Senate. but would be a step in the right direction IMO.

I also have no Idea who the Democratic Candidate will be, we will have a better idea after March 3 (super tuesday)  But I will vote for whoever the Democratic candidate is.

Tomorrow I will go Change my political affiliation from Independent to Democrat so I can vote in the Florida democratic primary.

I am an Independent. The best part is we Independents seem to be immune of malisious attacks unlike the other two parties.

It has being said that a "Little education is a dangerous thing". It means that:

" The proverb 'A little knowledge is a dangerous thing' expresses the idea that a small amount of knowledge can mislead people into thinking that they are more expert than they really are, which can lead to mistakes being made.

and that's how Propaganda works. it is not in what you are being told, what you know, it is in what you are not being told , what you don't know that leads one to make cognitive mistakes, and people such as you support trump.

So let's get a little more knowledge on the subject.

"The Academy Awards, more popularly known as the Oscars,[1] are awards for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. Given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the awards are an international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. "

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Awards

The film industry, not the American film industry!!!

The Oscars are given by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).

Not the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, simply the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences . I hope you will agree that "Parasite " was a motion picture that require "Art: and "Science" to be made, Do you disagree?

Pictures from all over the world  are nominated for best Picture and many other subcategories, including the one you mentioned.

Over the years 11  Foreign language  Pictures have being nominated for best picture . Many of them very good and deserving pictures . I submit to you that this picture did not win because of political correctness but because it was deserving, I submit to  you that many of the 11 foreign language pictures that were nominated did not win because of what was considered then to be political correctness.

I am indebted to you for the clarity to this response. I wanted to respond like you have. You touched on all points so well.  Thank you
