getting closer ...... but the only sensible way of connecting the Gulf with the Andaman Sea is by way of a canal.
The proposed plan would have a bvoat coming from the west to Ranong then off-loading at the port and reloading onto trucks or train to the port at Chumphon where the on and off-loading procedure is done in reverse onto another boat which can then steam over to the EEC port and everything is transfer again to a train.
A canal would dispense with all this time-consuming handling of the goods. It would also keep Ranong and Chumphon as nice places to visit for tourists (if they are ever allowed back). The entrance and exit from the canal could be kept free of industrial development (apart from canal maintenance). A canal would be more ecologically freindly.

I would assume that whoever won the bidding to operate this field took it over 'as is'. They should have made allowances for decomissioning before maki g their bid. Should not come back now and ask Chevron to pay.

The term "oriental" has long ago been deemed offensive. From my understanding (Thai girlfriend from Sa Kaeo area), "farang" means anyone not connected to the Asian continent. Someone from India is not a farang, someone from the Philippines or Japan are farangs.
So India is not on the continent of Asia ? Did you learn that at a Thai school or in Farangland ?

Oddly enough I think most the people who voted for Brexit will accept it.
That is 37% of the electorate !

He is simply stating that the UK should abide by the agreement they made when it left. The one Johnson claimed was an oven ready deal. In fact he was claiming it was a great deal, a fantastic deal, just after he signed it.
He was clearl, and knowingly lying when he said it was oven ready, a great deal, a fantastic deal. Has the world not leaned that Bonkin' Boris cannot tell the truth ?

I try to understand the Remainers, they seems to not want to accept that 52% will decide about the future of 100%, but that's the way it is with a simple majority.
Thus they present the future of the U.K. as somber and all negative.
To be honest I think the Brexiters here present the future of the U.K. as a bit too positive/optimist as well.
But time will tell. However not an easy job for the U.K. government next year :
proving that the Leavers made the right decision;
proving the Remainers that they made the wrong choice.
This can only be reached with concrete decisions/facts which all can see and experienced.
Only 37% of the electorate voted to leave. No other organisation would accept a fundamental change to it's constitution without a 66% majority of votes.
The UK desperately needs proportional representation.

they often just distract the snake whilst sneaking up from the other side and necking the snake.
Is that the same as necking a bottle of Chang ?

They are planning to get the Japanese to 'recruit' a few thousand English and Aussies to help with the job. Apparently they managed to lay down some track from Burma to Thailand a few years back in 3 months.
Most of the workers buidling the Thai-Burma rsailway were asians - mainly Burmese. 'Only' about 12,000 Brits Aussies and Dutch died. Over 80,000 asian workers died. Total was in the same ball-park as a bomb on Hiroshima.

If the answer to all 4 are Yes then I have a bridge for sale in Brooklyn at a low price.
Are you the guy who sold the old London Bridge to some Americans who thought they were going to get Tower bridge ?

The rocks seen near Chiang Mai are clearly volcanic 'glass'. However there are meteorite fragments about 500,00 year old (I think) in the eastern part of Issan. These are the western part of a strew field of meteorie debris which extends over part of southern Vietnam too. They can be collected near Dalat - or they could be in 1986 !

"Many felt they should have been encouraged to stay on and continue supporting the economy rather than chase well-heeled tourists who may not want to come anyway due to the hurdles presented by 14 day quarantine and large expense. "
This quote from the original report is spot-on !

Probably no requirement for buses to have seat belts installed!
Buses are definitely required to have seat-belts, and passengers are required to use them ! The staff on the buses from Hua Hin to Swampy are very strict about this legal obligation.

they realy need to start being original, everything they do is coppied from US movies, the 3 finger salute meant something in the movie, here its just another childish response because they lack the ability to think for themselves. Protesting is their right but copying movies to do it is not the answer, time for them to use their own ideas and maybe people will take more notice especially when they have genuine protests
There is nothing wrong in following others if it supports your aims
But copuing without thinking is just as bad as learning by rote

Hardly surprising when a Government Minister spouts about dirty farangs. People who retire here are supporting Thai families and the smaller Thai shops and restaurants. I hardly ever go to these mafia controlled places. Maybe because farangs complain about the rip offs they aren't welcome.
Maybe the report does not reflect the attitude of many of the hotels there. Perhaps the reporters wrote what they thought their masters wanted to read ...

MRToMRT got it right I think :
I think its the standard Thai inter quarantine flight. They will just run more flights or fill up more seats.
So we have to get the clear to fly, Covid-free test, and then sit in the plane with untested Thais being repatriated. Let us note the large percentage of people on these flights who are found to be Corvid positive on arival in Thailand. Who's up for that ?
