Sort it out yourselves .. The idea of getting govt' involved is to strong arm the negotiations to T A's advantage .. Another aspect of this is major aircraft components such as engines requiring overhaul are sent back to manufacturers or certified overhaulers outside of Thailand and can be held back until legal and financial issues are resolved .. not only engines are worth a lot of money they are a bargaining asset that T A need and cannot operate without ..
I seem to remember that Thai bought some engines from Rolls Royce not too long ago - and that squeeky clean British company seemed to have been handing out vast sums money in bribes in order to get the conract.

Still the case for Germans.
"Seven years ago though, when he went on overstay , you just needed a letter from your Embassy without actually having to have the cash"
After I retired, I came in 2008 and got a one-year A-O Visa. I did not need any cash, but I did need proof of adequate income in the UK which was verified the British Consulate.
Perhaps our German friend did not have sufficient income in Germany because it seems that he woukd not yet have a pension and with no job he was probably financially challeneged !

They are pretty comprehensive. I remember mine for a work permit once:
Doctor: "Are you well?" Me: "Yes, fine."
Doctor then wrote a out a health certificate.
I had to get a medial certificate for a work prmit too. I went to the hospital, gave the girl at the desk my passport. She asked me to wait - I thought this was to wait for the doctor to see me. A couple of minutes later she brought my medical certificate to me. Very efficient service !!!

Maybe the Post Of The Year ( POTY 2020 ? )
I wonder whether the forummers here would protest if there is a virus outbreak in New York and all Americans are prevented from entering Thailand.
Not all Americans, but those from New York State in the US of America would be a good idea

Can we know where these people were when they were identified with the virus ?
I guess this information is hidden so that it does not cause 'panic'

I think it depends where you are going. I would avoid major tourist areas and try to find an area not frequented by tourists and particularly chinese toruists. I would travel parts of Isaan or southern Thailand but l would avoid phuket, bangkok, pattaya, krabi, chiang mai, koh chang, koh samui. And I would definitely not fly with a Chinese carrier and a transfer through China. The plane may be more worrisome than when you land. Nothing against the Chinese just this could be a dangerous virus we will know more in a few weeks.
So Hua Hin is not a place to be avoided ?

Up in Soi Khoa Noi they are building a gazillion new Choc Chai condos - they even built a three storey sales building catering to the Chinese. They were trafficking in the Chinese by the coachload a few weeks ago - now the odd taxi turns up.
where is Soi Khao Noi ? Is it the one in Hua Hin ?

Our primary concern is getting on a plane, and transfers at high risk locations, but a secondary concern is that if things got bad, we might not be able to return to the US and even if we were we might have to be quarantined for 14 days.
I share your concern. I'm an aging retired Brit booked to fly home mid-February. The greatest dangers seem to be getting to the airport : taxi drivers are a great risk in Thailand - for lots of reasons; are gtrains safe ?), and oncd at the airport you are in the highest risk location full of potential carriers. Should I stay here until it's all over ?

Its good to see the immigration officers taking all reasonable precautions against infection.
Will they require me to put my fingers and thumbs on a biometric scanner which has been touched by the whole world and his dog when I leave Thailand in a couple of weeks time.
This pre-supposes that we are allowed to leave LOS ............

Jindarat further explained that since October 2019, BMA has been working with Royal Thai Police to randomly inspect vehicles in Bangkok areas for black smoke emission. “We have already identified almost 30,000 vehicles that have high levels of emission and ordered the owners to fix the problem,” she said.
Does anybody think that they with folow these arders ?

"a committee to ensure 'ease of travelling'. The committee will focus on upgrading tourism sector and solve problems for travellers."
The main problem for tourists who want to travel around the country is the necessity to report to Immigration Office every time you move from one place to another. I am talking about the new rules. It was bad enough with 90 day reporting. I went to Imm Office in Kanchanaburi (because I was there and not at home) at lunch time. The formal notice outside said it was open from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm (I may have got these times wrong- it was a while back !). An informal notice on the door said that it was closed for lunch from 12.00 until 1.00 pm. Come 1.00 pm it was still shut. Sometime before 2.00 it opened again. I presented my passport having filled out the necessary form, and was told that I could not do it there because this was not the IO I was registered with. According to the IO website you should be able to do 90 report at any office in the country. When I got home to report, I was late so was given a 2000 Baht fine thanks to the ever-so-helpful officer at Kanchanaburi.
Trips to Immigration Offices take up a very large amount of time. They are also very stressful when the officers refuse to do their job properly. Anybody wanting to tour round Thailand will soon learn that they will spend more time at the Immigration Offices than they planned.
Somebody with some clout needs to get Immigration to be tourist-friendly, otherwise the tourists wkill stop coming

I would think the result of this little squabble is known in advance: the last time the French won a battle over the English was in 1066 (and even then it was only the Norman French).
If this statement were right, England woud still hold half of France ! We did win some majot battles later (Crecy, Agincourt) which all Brits know about thanks to Shakespear and Olivier's Henri 5. But we must have lost a lot (obvously I do not know them) later to end the 100 Year War. We realy should have claimed back Normandy after liberating it (with US help) in 1944 ..........

Yes, there IS 121 better universities in Asia. If you had gone to even a <deleted> university, you might have noted that Universities is pleural so the verb must be ARE. The second phrase of your sentence contains a double negative so ends up being meaningless. Wear was u teached English ?
